  1. Nyquil. That's my beverage of choice tonight. :(
  2. In this case I would give my approval and help him attain his goals. Encourage him to look at all the options and get a guaranteed job before he signs the dotted line. He can actually get really good training as a fire fighter in the Air Force and come out with a very good paying job. Give him your blessing but make sure he makes smart choices - if you can. I'm raising my kids to NOT join the military, but if they do I will give them my blessing and full support.
  3. If I were him I would've answered the questions wrong and made her sleep in the bathroom. Wise up, woman!
  4. No, I don't think I'd survive that one. Life just isn't worth living without good bread. :)
  5. I consider using The Passion another form of "Hell, Fire, & Brimstone." I don't think these kinds of tools are effective in encouraging a loving relationship with Christ with most people. And I don't use them with my kids to coerce their feelings towards Him. Yes, I can't seem to stay away from this thread.
  6. I don't think seeing The Passion brought me any closer to Christ. It was gory and horrifying to me. But my imagination is far worse based on scripture without the visual aid of the movie. I don't think I benefited in any way seeing it. I think this movie should be saved for a mature person, hence my 16+ rating.
  7. Yes, I break rules I find silly or not necessary. I speed just enough not to get a ticket, etc. I am a rule breaker.
  8. Slap me back, okay? I'm a leader in a few different groups and I'm dropping them all this May. Yippee!
  9. I should have addressed you in the post below. I don't think its a big deal. I don't post much. You can be Elaine number 1. :)
  10. I would hope neither of us would have to change. I'm going as True Blue because there is an established Elaine already. But inside its more intimate to have my name. I don't post enough for it to be a big deal anyway. :)
  11. We require closed-toe shoes but not socks. Toes can be amputated from the tire spokes.
  12. When I search online for an innocent subject and it brings up porn.
  13. Mine isn't sullen or moody. I loved 13. We are now in 14 and so far so good. We did bump heads a little when he first turned 12 but I attribute it to me still treating him as one of the little kids. When I gave him the respect he deserved (and this trickled down to his sibs) it caused an incredible growth in our relationship. We talk a lot when things get stressful. Ds knows I'm on his side and so there aren't any major issues - yet. :)
  14. How much time per day does AG take? I wonder if I could use AG in my own way to review. Could I break lessons up?
  15. I agree with you. Teachers and administrators usually see most of the homeschooling failures. :(
  16. The only homeschool family I ever thought was doing a lousy job ended up with the oldest getting a perfect SAT score. I thought he was odd at the time. He's an incredible man now. All the people I know who homeschool are very responsible parents who want the best for their kids educationally, emotionally, socially, etc. Oops, this should be under the OP.
  17. We are finishing up our grammar work in 8th grade. What can we use in the high school years to keep our grammar fresh without being bogged down by a lot of work? We will be doing a lot of writing and literature analysis here on out and that with a full high school load will keep us plenty busy without adding another program. What do you use for grammar review?
  18. Yes, I remember worrying, too. I only had one bedwetter so it didn't seem normal, but it is.
  19. Talk to dh. Get take in for dinner. Make a plan to tackle the jobs before me. This is easier said than done. Sometimes I can get in panick mode for a few hours before I can make my plan. :)
  20. Where are you finding good new condition intermediate algebra at? I've been searching and seeing all the good books going for $70-$80? Thanks.
  21. Yes, used pullupps. My youngest boy wet the bed until somewhere around 7. Eventually, he was just able to wake up and go. It took that long and was well within the normal range for this.
