  1. I was just thinking about you today! I am so glad to hear an update. I think with a baby in the NICU you just have to put one foot in front of the other until it is over. It is hard. Accept all/any help that is offered and remember to take good care of yourself (rest, fluids, food!), too. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
  2. Could it be pityriasis rosea? Has he been sick with even a minor upper respiratory illness recently? My ds had a random rash on his torso and legs last year and that's what it turned out to be. It didn't itch or bother him, it just looked awful.
  3. Not at all, because others are listening! This thread has given me food for thought. Thanks to all who have posted. Lots of great wisdom.
  4. I have used Brainpop through onlineG3 for a couple of years now. I just broke down and subscribed to the homeschool solo option and used a coupon code I found online (code: sciencealmanac) so the total was around $87. We do use Brainpop a lot and it is beloved here. I mean, there were literally tears when our subscription expired.
  5. Along the lines of what Down the Rabbit Hole said, do you have a pet your child can read to? I know the local library had a program where kids could come and read to dogs. I had ds do that some at home with our dogs, he loved it!
  6. Yes, that would bother me. Then I might consider that the person using the word might not know the correct definition of "sporadic." :glare:
  7. We are currently (as in right this minute :)) listening to the Rob Inglis unabridged version. Love it.
  8. Kringla Bakery and Boulangerie Patisserie in Epcot have great snack options, also. We will be there in September also! :D
  9. We were not impressed with the Mexican QS in Epcot. We wished we had eaten at Tangierine Cafe again. We also love Sunshine Seasons! We had a really good lunch at Tortuga Tavern (MK) and we go to Columbia Harbour House without fail. We are vegetarian so that may impact how much weight you give my advice :001_smile:
  10. :iagree: This is exactly how we did it also.
  11. I was thinking about starting a similar thread because I'm feeling the same way. I've got things planned out but I feel like I'm missing something. 6th grade: Math: TT Science: finish Biology (we've taken a loooong time with lots of rabbit trails)/start Astronomy using Intellego Astronomy unit study, GEMS guides, etc. Latin: First Form Logic: Art of Argument Grammar: Grammarlogues Writing: Adventures in Fantasy/WWS Literature: CHOLL Vocabulary: Word Within the Word I, II History: History Odyssey Middle Ages Level 2 Music: private piano lessons, private drum lessons Art: Meet the Masters OP, I think what you have listed looks reasonable. I am also trying to be reasonable:001_smile: I have a tendency to "bite off more than we can chew" so to speak.
  12. We have been using Classiquest Biology this year and have really enjoyed it, but if memory serves the topic of genetics was covered in just one lesson. In fact, I supplemented with additional reading and the fruit fly lab in Froguts. I'm not trying to discourage you from buying Classiquest, but if you prefer ES then genetics probably shouldn't be a deal breaker. I think it would be easy to supplement ES and do your own little rabbit trail on genetics if that is important to you.
  13. 1. Freedom of speech 2. The many regions and dialects 3. Availability of goods and services
  14. We go to dinner and a movie every other month or so and out to socialize with friends maybe 2 or 3 times a year.
  15. :grouphug: Ds had pneumonia, diagnosed the week of Memorial Day, and didn't get over it for a month or so. Hope your dd gets better very soon!
  16. :iagree: I think that would be the last time I would go to that doctor.
