  1. Yep. We're all sick here. Fevers, coughing, sneezing. We're a mess.
  2. I'm so sorry. I have been there and it is not easy.
  3. We had fleas in our house last summer. I am still traumatized by how much laundry I did.
  4. Add me to the camp of never washing any meat.
  5. Grocery pickup. Saves me from impulse buys!
  6. INFJ here. Your description is 100% me. Seriously, eerily similar.
  7. Similar boat here. My DS is 10 1/2 and we've bounced around a bit for Math. He doesn't have much patience - he loved BA, but got frustrated with how long it was taking him. So now, he just started MM 6A and I think I'll make him finish that to make sure he's got fractions, etc, down pat. I think I have Zaccaro's Challenge Math, so I'll see if I can find that one. I have a copy of Foerster's Algebra 1, so I'm going to use that next year.
  8. Depending on the kid, I think age 12 is fine for the Holocaust Museum. If the 12 year old is highly sensitive, then maybe not. But I think it would be fine.
  9. Also, are you taking kids with you? How old are they? Take that into account when you are choosing things. For example, my kids are 6, 9, and 10 and I won't take them to the Holocaust museum yet. It is seriously intense and my kids wouldn't be able to understand or handle it. I believe the FBI Tour is also not recommended for younger kids.
  10. National Archives – pretty sure this one is free and you just show up. I have been before and waited in line about an hour to get in. Holocaust – Free Advance tickets online. Get them NOW. Washington Monument – currently Closed, but could be open by May. Check their website. You can still see it from the outside. Ford's Theater – can do online tickets in advance Arlington National Cemetery – I believe you can get advance tickets, but you can just show up and do it there.
  11. Yes. Here is the BEP website https://www.moneyfactory.gov/washingtondctours.html I would check every place's website individually because things change frequently. Also, some places will do tours only on Mondays and Thursdays, for example. The way I would approach this is to make a list of all the places you would want to visit - you could even prioritize them. Then, check everyone's websites to find out their policies. I know the Holocaust Museum does Advance Tickets online, but I think they also do same day tickets as well. But their tickets are limited. Then call your Senator or Representative's office and talk to someone. See if they will take a list of your choices and then let you know. Some places will have a very limited number of tours available and have to be booked far in advance. Also, plan to be flexible. Things change, often at the last minute. And weather - you can do Arlington Cemetery on your own, but you probably don't want to go on a day where it is pouring rain all day. I hope that helps a little. I used to live near DC and have done most of the things on your list. I love panning trips, so I will help as much as I can!
  12. For the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, you don't need to arrange that in advance. Just show up. It's next door to the Holocaust museum, so plan to do those on the same day. Maybe the Rep tour is a special one? Not sure, but you could just do the regular one and that would take it off your list to arrange.
  13. Thank you everyone. Our crisis is that DD6's anxiety is sky-high. Therapy alone hasn't helped, everything else we've tried hasn't helped - diet changes, etc. But it keeps getting worse. She has an appointment with a Psychiatrist, but it isn't until March. The mental health system in this country is so inadequate. So we are hanging on until March!!!
  14. My family is in the middle of a crisis time right now. Putting the kids in school isn't an option. So we are cutting back to bare bones for a while. I don't have to test them at the end of the year, and they are all working ahead of grade level anyway. (Not that I get too hung up on that, but just to give you an idea.) Tell me everything will be OK. We will do Math, Writing, and lots of reading. We will do whatever else we can manage to get done, but I need to get to a place where I feel OK about this. My kids are ages 6, 9, and 10. Tell me they won't be scarred for the rest of their education!!!!!
  15. We tip on the pre-tax amount, but we usually tip at least 20%. Our tax on prepared food is fairly high, and, we almost always use a coupon, so we never see the original total including tax. We ALWAYS tip on the total before the coupon. Always.
  16. Drawers not being closed all the way. Cabinet doors left open a tiny bit.
  17. We are seriously LOVING the Picture Smart Bible (K-3 version). The kids color while I read the story. Even my 10 yo DS, who hates to color, LOVES it.
  18. I keep a few to use for shipping curriculum. But most I end up recycling. At the moment, I have approximately 1 gazillion of them from Christmas!!!!! This weekend, I'll be flattening them and making a recycling center run.
  19. Ugh. It never, ever fails that I put off getting rid of something - finally donate it - and then very shortly after, I need it back.
  20. We are adding in Trail Guide to World Geography. I ditched Biblioplan a little while ago, and we've been doing a little of this and that for history. I finally have Mystery of History 4, so we will do a little of that along with Trail Guide.
  21. My DD8 regularly does gymnastics while doing her math work. I have no idea how she can do math while hanging upside down on the couch or standing on her head. But hey, it gets done!!!
  22. I am already Gluten-free because it helps with my migraines. I really, really need to cut out sugar. It is such an addiction for me and I know I would feel better. I'm good with eating natural sugar, like fruit. It's just sweets, like cookies, candy, stuff like that that needs to go. Tell me how to do it. What snacks do you eat? Is there any chocolate that would work? Some type of super dark chocolate, maybe?
