what about a wall frame?
Or a photo book - you can make great ones on Shutterfly.
We are converting old video tapes to dvd (slowly - it's about $15 per tape) for one of my aunts - my mom is not as much a home video person.
We have also done a video greeting card type of dvd to show what the kids are up to, how big they are this year, etc. - About 10 minutes long with greetings from each child and a song or poem or something.
We ordered ceramic ornaments of each of the kids (I found/took pictures of each of them from Nov/Dec and wrote their name and the month/year of the picture in photoshop). Ordered them from Winkflash today (theirs were my favorites, but lots of places have different ones).
My mom usually loves anything photo related - especially of her grandkids and kids. :001_smile:
I know it is more of a pain, but is there a way/place during boot camp that he could get a money order.
I think, even if it is more inconvenient, if at all possible he needs to take care of this himself.
:iagree: He already turned down your help when you offered him advice and reminders before he left. If he is mature enough for the military, he should be mature enough to handle his finances as well.
maybe art stuff - a new sketchbook, colored pencils, or markers that kind of thing, a basic drawing book of some type.
Even non-artists (like me) liked to doodle that way:tongue_smilie:
Pajama/lounge pants
pillows (I have great GI Joe and Spiderman material for the dorks in my life) or blankets
I made my dad a drawstring bag for his golf ball in his golf bag for his birthday.
We like the ceramic pictures ornaments at winkflash.
Collages of pictures are always a hit (more with the older guys than the younger ones).
Photo mugs?
i think there are more things for women, because more often than not we are the ones making the whatever, that we come up woth things we would like.:D
My oldest dd did this sometimes when she was younger.
Lanolin worked great and I didn't worry about her ingesting it (since it was from licking or as a baby rubbing her sucking thumb around her face).
I have done both, somethimes it is easier to ket them read it and with at least one of mine, she understood much better reading than listening :001_smile:
:iagree: Right now you are angry, maybe leave it on the tree and see how you feel at the end of the season. We like the broken (aka well-loved) ornaments just as well here.
I tried Beloved by Toni Morrison for a month or two - I made ot to p.258 out of 322 and at that point I couldn't renew it from the library again and I was still hating it - I could see no way for that book to improve at that point.:tongue_smilie:
I also could not get into The Other Queen, which is strange since I usually like (if not love historical fiction)
Yes, let us know what kind of music you like.
My DH is sad that he doesn't have enough Christmas music to fill up his 8gb mp3 player (only about 5-6 gbs). He feels we have a shortage .
Mannheim Steamroller
The Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Lorrie Line
These are all primarily instrumental
Oooh, Toby Keith Christmas, I didn't know about that :D
