  1. I think of numbers as vectors, having both magnitude (the absolute value), and direction (the sign). The negative sign can be thought of like undoing something. When you multiple two negatives, you undo what had been undone, resulting in a net positive.
  2. I too had to let go of my career in order to stay home with the kiddos to homeschool. I tried to do both, but have come to a place where I had to choose one or the other. I am now making pizzas at a convenience store part-time @ $8 an hour to supplement the household income. My options were to let my career go, or let my kids go......to public school. It really shouldn't matter, but seeing your post makes me feel a little less crazy for letting my career go. I am thankful my husband supports me in my decision, even though it is a financial stress, but sometimes I need someone else to say "It's OK" Our room isn't finished --it's a big job. We're doing school in the living room. They have a very small table where they sit and I sit on the floor. It's working fine, school is getting done, and I have decided "It's OK". We're all happy with our day and the kids are excited about the things they're learning.
  3. I do not know who Rivka is (I'll have to have a look see), but the thing to remember is that the blog only shows a small part of someone's life. So, yes they can serve to be an inspiration, but caution is advised to remember it is not the whole story. No two homeschools will be exactly the same in their day to day process due to the indiviuality of children and the fact that the homeschool is formed around the child. As far as the meltdown goes, there are other potential contributers in addition to the curriculum style. Was it beyond her grasp? Was she frustrated, tired, wanted to have fun with ..., were you frustrated, tired, wanting to get on with other things? One bad day does not constitute failure :) I know I have not said anything you probably haven't already thought through - but it seems you want to have someone else say it too? And yes, I agree with Linda, the less you read about other homeschools, the more content you will be with your own. And you will free up more of your time for something else!
  4. In the video they show a section of yellow tags of the gospels. I may be wrong but I think those were scriptures teaching of the gifts/blessings we are given. I also don't recall what's on the back of the cards (and I don't want to watch it again) but I'm thinking they were a more positive approach also. If you are unsure or wary about the product, I would suggest watching the video where they explain everything it entails.
