I never thought it would happen to us, hubby just got laid off...

This thread made me think of a parking issue we had once. At our old house, they clean the street one day a month so you can't park on our particular street that day. On those days, everyone parks on side streets. That's what dh did too, of course. So he parked the car and we actually left it there a few days. No law against that in our area as far as I know. It was still close to our house, we just didn't use it for a few days. I went over to it to use it after that and there was a note on it. The note was from a disgruntled neighbor saying we were taking up two spaces- seriously, it's a Camry, there's no way, lol- and that we had better move it because they were having it towed the following day since it had been parked there for ten days now. It hadn't been anywhere close to even a week at that point. It was nutty. We also had a lady that was attached to us who would get upset when people parked in front of her house. We lived on a street where parking is at a premium. You parked where you could. All that said, op, in your situation, I totally agree with you and would be annoyed as well. I am rather shocked by something I noticed on Back to the Future II
kristi26 replied to Ginevra's topic in The Chat Board
I'm not sure if anyone has said this yet, but I always thought they used a black family in his home with younger children because they didn't want there to be any doubt that they were NOT his family (his family is depicted as the pasty white color of people who don't go outside enough...or me, who goes from pasty white to freckled and red and back again...they also had older kids in the house, not young ones, when he left). What you are pointing out never even occurred to me, honestly. Also in that particular dystopian realty was a white principal with a shotgun, white Biff in charge, white henchmen for Biff...lots of bad white people. I always saw the black family as a good family. The mom and dad are married with children in the house and dad comes charging in the room to defend his daughter when she's in trouble. Just my two cents on this one... -
I had to vote "other." My sorting method probably makes no sense, but here goes... - I wash sheets together in a load (like, the set of sheets for that bed; if it's kid sheets, they get washed together- I have no real reason for this) - I wash the white towels together (and they can even go in the load with the white sheets from my bed if they need washed at the same exact time) - Everything else gets jammed in the washer and washed together. :leaving:

have you seen this horribly bad show Scream Queens...
kristi26 replied to bettyandbob's topic in The Chat Board
I love that you just proved your post by telling us the name of the movie described. Regarding Scream Queens, I haven't seen it but a friend of mine has a daughter who's into it and was raving about it. It just looked dumb to me. But then, I'm not into horror movies of any kind. -
Congratulations!!! This is wonderful news!!!

When should a woman stop coloring her gray hair?
kristi26 replied to Lady Florida.'s topic in The Chat Board
Okay, I voted "other" because I'm part of the group that doesn't think coloring grays is necessary. It's not that I'm "against" it really, I just don't imagine I ever WILL. I really don't care if others color their grays...I guess if I had to pick an age, I'd say that "whenever YOU are ready to stop coloring your hair, stop." ;) -
I agree with the bolded: shop around. You can often use coupons to get a discount or even find a great price at a place like Costco or Walmart. I'd get one now after shopping around. ;) But then, I set up a Christmas tree right before we MOVED last year. Lol. DH was all, "But it's one more thing we have to pack!" And I was all, "It's Christmas! We need a tree! Don't worry, I'll take care of it!"

Spider bites? MRSA? What to do? Am I contagious?
kristi26 replied to Daria's topic in The Chat Board
Any word on what it was? -
Ok, so I just read the rest and have to agree with the others. Set clear boundaries and don't be available. She sounds like she has major boundary issues. :( Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk

This is exactly what I was thinking. I'd probably text back with, "Oh no! Did you call the restaurant about it yet?" I would not pay for the meals. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk

Start ibuprofen about 2 days before her period begins and continue taking it as recommended in the bottle through the second day ( or whenever hers ease up). That helps me when I do it. It was doctor recommended. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk

Rick Riordan has a couple of other series out in addition to Percy Jackson. He also has a new series conning out in the next few weeks. Have you looked at any of those? Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk

I'd want to know before attending the party so I could decide for myself. Sorry you're having to deal with this! Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk

DonnaYoung.org requires a subscription?

Aww man! I liked several of the forms on her site. I won't be subscribing though. -
I'd switch to frozen veggies as much as possible as others have mentioned. Buy them in bulk when they are on sale. Ours often go on sale for $1/bag around here at a regular store. You can also hit up the bargain grocery outlets. We have Amelia's (they changed the name recently, I think), Aldi's, Sharp Shopper...anything like that in your area would be helpful. Also as others have mentioned, go vegetarian several nights a week. Good luck! We've been working to cut our grocery budget down too. It's not easy!

trying not to be frustrated...doggy adoptions - a long vent.
kristi26 replied to PrincessMommy's topic in The Chat Board
What?? Were they afraid the DOG would be swayed?! :glare: Ridiculous... OP, we have been looking at adopting and/or buying a puppy/young dog for a little while now as well. I haven't actually applied anywhere yet but in looking at the applications, I got the feeling that it would be easier to adopt a human child than to adopt a dog. -
I had considered watching it with my family up until I read a review online about it warning families that it would NOT be family friendly. I was a little skeptical about the review, thinking it couldn't be true and was planning to preview it on demand before watching with the kids. Good to know I don't need to bother. My kids will NOT be watching that and neither will DH and I. Sad. :(

No. I had one ex who persistently friend requested even when I rejected him multiple times. I ended up messaging him and telling him that it wasn't appropriate for us to be friends, even on facebook. He finally got the message and stopped requesting. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk

We have a dentist like that in our area. I'd find a new one and not use them. Our dentist office is very nice and welcomes parents in the rooms. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
