  1. Hi there! It's been quite a few years since I've visited the forums as we sent everyone to public school for a while, but now DD13 is back home again and homeschooling with me (as of last year) and so I thought I should reintroduce myself again. My husband and I are homeschooling one for 8th grade-- DD13. ODS is graduated now. DS16 is going into 11th in public school and very happy there. DS10 is in public school for now, doing 5th grade work, but will likely come home again in the next few years.

I am back on the forums looking for suggestions and ideas for DD's last middle school year! Plus, I'll need to start thinking about how to do high school in PA. I've never had to do it before and it makes me nervous.

    Thanks for having me back!

  2. I love my Contigo. It lasted a year before the lid broke. I contacted the company and got a replacement lid for FREE. The beautiful thing still works two years running (so 3 now). My coffee stays warm from around 730 when I fill out through to about noon when I tip it back for one last desperate sip. No leaks.

  3. They sent us cash, too. I want to say it was as much as $8 because dh had said he would do it. But dh works extremely long days and at that point I was hardly seeing him as he would not be home during my regular waking hours. When I would tell them I didn't want to do it they would say, "your dh wants to do it". Made me crazy. He agreed to do it but was NEVER home and I didn't want to do one more thing. So, I guess I stole their $8. I certainly have paid for it in aggravation dealing with their calls.

See. Now I'm glad I said no. Lol. They sent you $8? Such a silly thing to do. I don't get why they thought that would make people participate. Guilt, maybe?

  4. My husband agreed to fill out some survey about our radio listening habits for the Nielson company. I threw out the survey when it came. We have been getting phone calls every couple days for about six months. Everytime I explain that I threw out the survey and would not be completing it. One time I lost my temper and yelled at them to stop calling (my kids thought it hysterical because I am so nice to service workers). I then yelled at my husband who called the company and told them to stop calling. It hasn't stopped. Less frequent now but every couple of weeks they call again. Ugh. I realize my husband agreed to do it but I threw it away. I can't fill it out even if I want to.

They sent us a letter in the mail asking us to complete a survey over the phone and included an actual dollar as the bribe to get us to do it. I still said no when they called.

  5. Dh and I were on a date a few years ago and there was a family at the next table. The husband was extremely loud so we heard his entire side of the conversation. He insisted that his feet don't stink because he doesn't wash them and that people who have stinky feet only have them because they use soap on their feet. He said that the soap gets trapped in your toes and makes your feet smell bad. He went on and on about his feet for at least twenty minutes. Dh and I were dying. Lol.

  6. There's laminate throughout our house. We moved in a year ago and it had been here for awhile already before that. It still cleans up beautifully and had held up under our family's heavy use. We love it.

  7. My teacher read it aloud to me and my class in third grade. In fact, I read it so many times that my copy is ragged now (he gave it to me for Christmas in third grade when he found out how much I loved it). I adore it. It was perfect for that grade. But as others have mentioned, Dahl does use some mean names and says stupid a lot in the story.

  8. DS6 is first grade this year. He will finish up or current curriculum for this year.

Over the summer: Tons of outside time, lots of good books plus a summer reading program.

    2016-2017 Plans:

    Math: MUS Beta

History: SOTW2 with activity guide and extra fun literature

Reading: Good books at his level

    Phonics: EtC6-8

    Spelling: word lists from EtC6-8

    Handwriting: undecided

Science: This will be through our co-op. I'm hoping Apologia Astronomy. We'll see.

    Gym: co-op class

    Art: co-op class

Music: He is on the kids worship team at our church.

I don't think I've missed anything...this is, of course, subject to change. ;)

  9. Although what makes them girls' clothing exactly?

The OP specifically stated that they were women's leggings. I didn't know that meggings were a thing but I would like to assume that meggings would have a bit more, ahem, support in all of the right places if you catch my drift. ;)

And by the way, the OP also asked what we would do if it was our own child. I am telling you what I would do with MY boys. Though I can't picture any of the three wanting to wear leggings unless MDS wore them with shorts I suppose...I could see him doing that. I would, however, insist he buy them in the men's/boy's department and wear shorts over them to cover his boy bits. I am in the "leggings/meggings are not pants" camp. ;)
