  4. So glad to see there is a second one. We used the first one and really liked it. :)
  5. We are long time MUS users (my dd will be in pre-algebra w/ honors next year), but there is always that nagging feeling that maybe something else would be better for HS. I am hoping to hear some success stories from people who have used MUS through HS. My dd is not looking to pursue a "high math" career. Thanks. (I am also hoping not to hear a lot from people who HATE MUS. I know they are out there... just looking for some positives. Thanks.)
  6. We cycled through SOTW for grades 1-4. For 5th grade (and a ds in 2nd) we did MOH vol. 1. We are Catholic and I did not like how MOH vol. 2 was written with an anti-Catholic bias. My dd did History Odyssey level 2 Middle Ages for 6th grade. (In place of "The Story of Mankind," I had her read similar lessons from "The Old World's Gifts to the New" to give more of a Catholic perspective.) My ds (grade 3) listened to the audio of SOTW 2 and also did lessons from "The Old World's Gifts to the New". Since I felt that our first go-round in history did not cover enough American history, we are focusing on that next year (dd 12, ds 9, ds 5)-- from the discovery of the Americas up to (but not including) the Civil War. We will be using From Sea to Shining Sea:the Story of America, plus the audio version of A Little History of the World to add some details of what was going on in the rest of the world.
  7. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm glad to hear it. We will just play the cds in the car and look for something else. lol. That's why I asked. I just wasn't sure what all comes in the texts/workbooks, but doesn't sound like enough. Maybe we will just build a biology class around botany, genetics, taxonomy etc. and skip dissecting.... or maybe we will study rocks instead. Who knows. :tongue_smilie:
  8. :iagree: I LOVE Startwrite. You can do all kinds of things with it. Highly recommend.
  9. I am really thinking WAY ahead here.... but I am trying to put a plan into place.... my dd (about to start 7th grade) is very squeamish. She is not especially interested in science to begin with, but I might like her to have biology in HS. (Our state requires two years of science for graduation-- one must be biology and while I realize that I don't have to necessarily follow those guidelines, I am interested in trying to figure out how I might do so.) I have the Lyrical Life Science CDs, but I don't have the texts or workbooks. If I were to get them, would they be appropriate as a 9th or 10th grade biology course? What else might we add to make the course complete? Thanks.
  10. Does anyone use Connecting with History? It is from a Catholic perspective and is being published little by little.
