  1. Doing CAP with my 8 and 9 year old (after doing WWE 1-3) and we are really enjoying it!
  2. bumping up for some more thoughts on the writing component We are currently using CAP and considering a switch to Hake for grammar next year Wonder if CAP writing and both Hake Writing and grammar would be too much?
  3. I see there is a 1st and end Edition of Hake? Any recommendations on which to use? Also, I have seen a lot of great posts here with recommendation on the grammar, but not much on the writing component. Thoughts on the writing?
  4. That is helpful! I agree that CAP seems much more engaging. But actually thought CC might go over things more slowly and in more detail given that goes through the series slower?
  5. We use a combination of MP and Kolbe now and plan to use Kolbe for high school. So, I am intrigued they both pick this curriculum- especially since I really trust their choices. We are really enjoying CAP, so hence being torn on the chocies..
  6. Ok, one more bump. Hopefully someone can share their thoughts!
  7. Mine are science-y too, so was hoping it would be enough
  8. Halcyon, we love the Scientist in the Field series also. But, we are not familiar with Oliver Sach, and I couldn't find it on amazon? Could you share what those are?
  9. I was just thinking Yikes too, was really hoping this was enough for science for a year for my science loving, horse loving kids. Would love to hear hwo people have supplemented it!
  10. Thanks reefgazer1963, I was hoping it was meatier than that for science. Did you find a way to supplement it? Giving a bump too inc ase anyone else ahs any thoughts...
  11. Could these be used together as history and science or is there too much overlap to make it worth doing both? Think I want to do WP for science next year. Anyone have reviews on either?
  12. We are using CAP Writing and Rhetoric for third grade this year after finishing WWE3. My original plan was to use Classical Composition for 4th grade as recommended by Kolbe and Memoria Press. However, we are really enjoying CAP. So, now I am not sure which to use next year. I was wondering if anyone could compare the two or make a recommendation of one over another?
  13. Already did Little House series too, Wizard of Oz and Anne of Green Gables. Thanks for all the other suggestions! It is hard to keep up with her! ;)
  14. My daughter recently read Heidi, Lassie, and A Secrety Garden. She loves them all. Book recommendation for her next book?
  15. Can anyoone compare the two or recommend one over another? (For ages 8 and 10) Thanks!
  16. We love these books. I think my kids will look back on the rabbit trails with such find memories- that is what makes homeschool so special. I try not to stress about the other things we don't get to-- it will all get done eventually!
  17. Can anyone compare the Holt Life Science short courses used by Kolbe with RSO Bio 2? Thoughts on either one?
  18. Thanks both Spelling Wisdom and the Dictation Resource book look perfect. Now, just to decide which one to do...
  19. I would like to do a daily studied dictatiaon (one or two sentences) with my 8 and 9 year old. 9 year old struggles with spelling (mildly dyslexic) and want to do this for spelling and grammar reinforcement. I know I could just pull sentences from our reading, but wondering if there is a resources out there already I could use?
  20. We use them as anature study/supplement. I like them but wouldn't use it as my only science
  21. I recently asked about lit guides and got a lot of great suggestions in this thread: http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/493051-literature-guides/?do=findComment&comment=5283358
  22. I just buy the teacher's manual and we do them orally.
