  1. Ds is currently in 11th grade. So, staring this fall (2016), he will begin his senior year (he will be graduating in May 2017). The college he wants to attend requires an application in November. Therefore, he will be filling out his college application during the beginning of his high school senior year, right (ie: November 2016)? This is before he will have any grades for his senior year. Do I just put blanks down for this grades? Will his GPA be calculated on only his 9th-11th grade scores? Also, when should I be filling out the FASFA and the common application? Do I do it this August 2016, when the common application is available so the school has it for his application? How about the FASFA? Thanks Hot Lava Mama
  2. I shot oven cleaner into my eye. Well, not on purpose. The spray nozzle thingy shot it backwards into my eye. Boy, did that hurt. The good news is that all the oven grease is out of my eye now. Can't say the same for my ovens, though. Hot Lava Mama
  3. Yes, I do give the test. I don't have them do anything "special" for the test. I think a solid class would cover all that stuff, at a minimum. If my students ever failed that test, they would be required to re-do the entire class. Hot Lava mama
  4. FYI, SS biology is a very tough class. I believe it is one of the classes as a prep for the AP biology class. The book is HUGE and very detailed. I would be very hesitant to have an 8th grader go through the book. Unless he is really into biology, it might be way over his head. Just a thought. Hot Lava Mama
  5. Count us in, too! We would love this-either as a book series (Like Story of the World) or as WTMA classes! :) Hot Lava Mama No Facebook with us...so I posted here instead.
  6. by Alexis De Tocqueville Any ideas? This will be for an 11th grader. Thanks! Hot Lava Mama
  7. Thanks for the suggestions! He is doing a rather hard chemistry course and enjoyed the living book side. I will try those listed. Thanks for the help! :) (My library search engine is terrible! I usually have better luck searching on Amazon, then going to my library to see if they have those books. The problem is I don't know what phrase to use because "chemistry" just brings up chemistry text books.) Hot Lava Mama
  8. Ds read Napoleon's buttons and loved it. He loved the history part and how it related to chemistry. I saw Disappearing Spoon as another chemistry book. Anything else? Thanks Hot Lava Mama
