Pretty sure that would disrupt other subjects, too.

  4. Kids have left for school and I'm still in bed. Lovely. :)

  5. Happy to back wasting time on the boards! :-)

  6. Sort of! We lived on our sailboat in San Diego during the summer. We sold the boat last year and are now looking to buy a condo there (my dh's hometown, and where I lived for many years). We'll probably also buy a smaller (25') sailboat once we get the condo - my husband has been depressed ever since the sale. :tongue_smilie:

The bright side? The condo will have laundry in-unit (no more laundromats - whoo hoo!), showers (no more communal shower facilities!), and room for everybody to have their own space - a key point with two teenagers. :D

The down side: we miss our boat! We love sailing, love taking people out on the bay for an afternoon sail, especially those who have never been sailing. We love cocktail hour in the cockpit with friends, watching the sunset. We love leaving the yacht club and not having to drive anywhere - just walk down to the boat, cook dinner, watch a movie, and all hit the sack. Waaah, now I'm sad and want it back. :drool5:

    So.....do you sail?

  7. Hahaha, thank you! He's grumpy and affectionate at the same time...purrs through his grumpiness. ;-)

  8. I hope you can get that boat and cruise - what a wonderful experience!! I "met" a gal on TWTM boards and they were cruising a 5-year circumnavigation (below the equator) and homeschooling their daughter onboard. I loved following their blog - the things they saw and experiences their daughter had! It was amazing. They have since returned to the Denver area, and we keep in touch periodically. Jealousy reigns. ;-)

  9. Well, thank you Mama Geek! That was kind! It's so funny, because I remember Stacey being here for years, and I've been on the boards since 2000. I guess I lurk more than post, and sometimes during the school year when I get busy, I don't go on at all. That may have something to do with it! ;-)

We split our time between Phoenix & San Diego, and live on our sailboat during the summers. My dh is a San Diego native, and I lived there for 15 years before we moved to Phx. During that time, we raced sailboats every weekend, although we didn't own one. My kids have loved living on the boat - they take sailing classes all day, and I have lots of time to read, relax, and kayak. :-) I love the peacefulness of being on a kayak! I also have a little sailboat (very little) that I sail myself, and race with a women's group during the summer. Do you live on a lake? Very lucky if you do!

    Thanks for reaching out!

  10. That does help. I, too, like to focus on spoken French, because I'd like to be able to actually use the language we're learning! I live in an area that is easy to learn Spanish because of so many Mexicans living here, but I'm waiting until high school to introduce that. I figure after learning Latin & French, Spanish should be a breeze, and that's the language I think I'm going to use on transcripts. At least, that's the plan now. ;)

  11. Lorna,

Thanks for linking this. I'm glad GP is considering a higher French text, but it will probably be too late for me to use it. What to do, what to do! Ideally I suppose I need a French tutor since I don't speak the language myself, but I was hoping to avoid outsourcing French in high school since I know I'll be outsourcing science & upper level math. Decisions!

    Thanks again!
