  1. I did a colonoscopy cleanse and went completely cold turkey from all animal products. It can be done, just depends upon your way of doing things. My husband tried the gradual process and is back to completely non-vegan.
  2. I started this diet 6 months ago after watching the movie and then reading Preventing and Reversing Heart Disease. Just this last week I got results from my blood work 6 months out: Total Cholesterol 200 down to 145 LDL 104 down to 77 Weight loss: 38.6 pounds One of the B.E.S.T. Cookbook for this diet is Happy Herbivore www.happyherbivore.com Her recipes are all very flavorful, low in fat and seriously, if you never knew that there were beans in the butter beans cookies or the chocolate mug cake is no fat vegan...well, if you never knew, you would never know.
  3. Ok, haven't had time to read all the posts (sorry, there's 20 pages!) but my HUGE pet peeves: "frick" and "fricking" Do you really think I don't know what you're feeling in your heart when this comes out of your mouth?
  4. I rocked both my girls to sleep for naps and at night until they were old enough to say "I'm ready for bed." I still sit with my 12 year old until she falls asleep and I almost always sit and talk with my 16 year old unless she is tired and goes to sleep before her sister is asleep. We have some of our best conversations curled up on her bed right before sleep.
  5. One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp changed my total perspective on life.
  6. I switched to a 100% plant-based diet (vegan) in September. There are many benefits to such a diet. I am now reading The China Study by T. Collin Campbell, PhD. You might want to get a copy of it from your library. The reason that I say this is that his research over many years shows that we don't need as much protein as we have been convinced we do. Also, if she only recently went on Vegetarian diet, her body is probably doing a mini-detox which can be a bit not fun.
  7. I always wanted a daughter. My mom and I were and still are close and I wanted that mother/daughter relationship for myself. My first born is a girl. When I got pregnant 4 years later I wanted another daughter...I never had a sister so thought my daughter should. I TOLD people I was ok with having a boy since I had one girl but I really, really wanted another girl. And, that is what I got. I guess I am the exception to your rule. :001_smile:
  8. I pick and choose which forms I need to work for me and primarily use the homeschool planners. However, I think she has a chore chart generator. Not sure about the household planner...I've never been that organized :001_unsure: I would think that others here might have more experience with all that is offered.
  9. Try looking at Donna Young's site: http://www.donnayoung.org
  10. This is my first Thanksgiving as a vegan. My mom will be doing the usual fare but asked me about some special recipes. I think we will try this vegan stuffing: http://www.vegkitchen.com/recipes/cranberry-pear-wild-rice-stuffing/
  11. I ran into a similar situation at our library. The "story times" were for 5 to 10 year olds and my dd was too mature for the "baby" stories and activities. I spoke with my librarians, who are awesome, and in time they started doing activities for 8 to 10 year olds. I was thrilled that they let 11 year olds participate in "teen" events. These are more on her level and I just have to monitor subject matter of books for book clubs as some are too intense for her, but those will probably be too intense when she is 18 as well.
