  1. I agree! We love our Roku. We use it for Netflix streaming, amazon.com video on demand (to purchase shows we'd like to watch for $1.99), and Pandora music (free music station, you type in a song title and it creates a list of songs similar to it). If you don't care about having a flat screen television, local thrift stores carry some nice televisions with fairly large screens now for under $100. ;)
  2. An ornament that has their names, Engaged and the year. Can you tell I like the one I got? :D
  3. No cable - made the biggest difference in our family We have a Roku and watch using Netflix or Amazon video on demand.
  4. I think you should tip in all the situations you mentioned. I'm a big fan of tipping. People in service industries often work very hard for little pay. Also, as a Christian, I see it as a way to bless others.
  5. My ds (almost 12) has friends that are 13 and 14 who still like Legos and Nerf wars. Perhaps that's still an option.
  6. Later in December is my dd's birthday. It'll go like this: Night before, "Good night, 8 year old girl." Morning of, "Good morning, 9 year old girl." Complete with big hugs. :D We do parties, gifts and other things but both of our dc love this tradition.
  7. I love these! Hmmm...the dollar stores have some nice plates. :)
  8. Our family celebrates Christmas similar to Daisy's family. (Although we haven't done a super cool code! ;) ) We've always treated Santa like Mickey Mouse or Barney. He's pretend but a fun character!
  9. My dc have loved doing a Jesse tree every year. This is a beautiful devotional. I agree that it's a good idea to start with one Advent tradition and see how you like it.
  10. My dd loves Paper Fashions Fancy. She received it last Christmas and still uses it with the original paper.
  11. I just love your site! It's very user friendly at first glance. I think we'll work through some of it this year. Would you like suggestions at the end? Thanks for sharing all your hard work. :)
  12. We've had a difficult time finding recipes for bake goods as so many have a "gluten-free" aftertaste. This box mix makes an excellent carrot cake (we add an extra 1/4 cup of grated carrots to the recipe). All the ingredients are organic. We love these cookies made with the box mix: Pumpkin Spice Cookies 1 box of Simply Organic Carrot Cake 1 can pumpkin 1/2 bag of milk chocolate chips Mix and bake as cookies at 350* for about 15 minutes or until done.
  13. We made the coasters last year with napkins then friends made some with scrapbook paper. The scrapbook paper coasters turned out really nice! I think wrapping paper is a great idea. My dc loved this Jesse tree. We did it for many years.
  14. We order through www.amazon.com Video on Demand and stream to our Roku. We watch Warehouse 13 too. ;) ETA: I really enjoyed reading through your blog Wyndie. (We have food allergies in our family and my dd spent a year decorating a fairy treehouse!) Thanks for sharing your encouraging stories.
  15. We rerowed books and then moved to Beyond this year at ages 11 and 8. I wasn't sure I was going to like Beyond, but the subjects are great for going more in depth.
  16. We like the Jotham's Journey series! :) Our favorite Christmas chapter books are A Tree for Peter and If You're Missing Baby Jesus.
  17. You could purchase a regular dollhouse and remodel. My dd received a gift certificate for a Year of the Dollhouse for Christmas one year. I got the idea from another homeschool mom. My dd decided to make a fairy treehouse. We decorated and made furniture and had a wonderful time!
  18. We bought everything at Target. The juggling balls were in the $1-$2.50 section.
  19. We just filled one for church. We were able to fit: deck of cards Uno game small Lego set nano bug toy sunglasses squishy ball juggling balls silly putty slinky
