  1. Yup. I was present for the last thread on this topic. I knew exactly how to respond....
  2. I just wondered out loud to dh if we should give Schitt's Creek a try. We are running out of shows. We are going to our vacation home next week. I am so looking forward to just sitting there, watching the tide come and go and the fishing boats go by.
  3. Prayed. May it be mild and without any lasting effects!
  4. For some inexplicable and totally illogical reason, I don't mind seeing a young person in a Bikini at the beach but someone my age needs to be more mindful what we subject other people to. I like to blend in - I know some like to stand out - so I would not be in a bikini at the beach or anywhere else. However, many moons ago, we ran around the beach in Italy in bikinis and nobody thought anything of it - without kids and the potentially detrimental effect they can have on clothing that can be easily "dislocated."
  5. I have those bluish things. Are they actually considered varicose veins?
  6. Especially if the carpet maintenance involves wax. We had a thread on this years ago that made me shiver.
  7. If someone has the figure for a bikini at the beach, sure. I mean it's the appropriate place for it IMHO. But not to the grocery store or the gas station. For some reason, a bikini looks okay next to the beach but not really elsewhere. :)
  8. Can you send a pic or link? I may have to take a look...
  9. Sounds good in theory. But can you imagine what it would take to implement with the wildly fluctuating rate of cooperation.
  10. Again, let me rephrase...it was likely not a "respectable" person (by your definition) as in someone scientifically minded or with adequate knowledge to speak on the subject, HOWEVER, in the early days of CV19 any number of articles floated around and some people were influenced by whatever they read without implementing principles of CRAAP.
  11. That's exactly the point. Yes, someone was, hence my comment we have to separate hyperbole from useful info. In the early days of CV19 there were so many articles published by people who knew very little about pathogens, replication or stats. Misinformation was rampant and not just in the US.
  12. Early on there was a dire prediction like that because Sweden dared to do it differently. I can't remember now where I read it but it was likely not a scientific journal. Since nearly everyone has an opinion that they can publish we have to separate the wheat from the chaff.
  13. Excellent viewpoint and confirms what I have feared - this has so many variables that we are only seeing half of the sheet instead of the big picture. If I had more time, I'd look more into Sweden's stats. I found their approach interesting and the prediction that 3/4 of the Swedes would die from this has not materialized.
  14. @mommyoffiveHere is an example of a ductless mini split (Dh said this would be easiest cause you won't have to install ducts): https://www.homedepot.com/b/Heating-Venting-Cooling-Ductless-Mini-Splits/N-5yc1vZc4m1
  15. Agreeing with those who said it raises your bill considerably. We had one at the old farmhouse and we paid a fortune to the utility company. Any chance you can get a mini split to heat (and cool) that space?
  16. Good point. Far away...until it was the neighbor.
  17. Yes, indeed! And in a world where information moves ahead (or backwards) at lightening speed, we can all afford to offer a little grace especially since we don't know if our own "cutting edge" informational status has not already been superseded by the next, latest and greatest blurp.
  18. Yup. Didn't the UK prime have it too and a few other well known people (was it Albert of Monaco?) who are often seen at things like galas and fundraisers?
  19. The Kill Artist by Silva (Reading) Trauma & Recovery by Herman (Audio) Murder in Little Italy by Thompson (Audio) I am bit all over the map right now. :)
  20. This is exactly what I was thinking when I read it. Next time perhaps: I apologize for having had some technical issues. I hope this did not delay the meeting. I choose not to participate in the singing. Thank you. May we proceed now?" I wonder how long they would argue with you. How utterly childish.
  21. Thanks for mentioning this. I usually don't have much time in the morning to check on news but I had a bad feeling fires would be starting with this dry, hot wind we've been having. We have family in Santa Rosa and area as well and friends in Napa.
  22. Don't know if anyone mentioned it already. "Ladled" by Kimi Harris is one of my favorites. So many different flavors.
