  1. Could it be gallbladder issues? Some of your symptoms are similar to what I experienced.
  2. My daughter had a blistering rash on her palms and soles of her feet when she had it.
  3. Lots of :grouphug: s and sending thoughts of strength and peace.
  4. That's so great! Yay for you!!! And, Yay for the shelter. It sounds like they have a great volunteer.
  5. Thank you for this ^^. It is a perspective I had not considered and I believe you are right.
  6. It does always seem like things pile on one after another. Probably because once it feels that way we begin to notice those things more often than we otherwise would. So, here's a big :grouphug: , lots of warm, peaceful wishes, and hopes for a really good night's sleep. Deep breath. One step at a time. Even if it's a baby step. I'm cheering for you!
  7. Early in my marriage, well before I had children, something clicked for me - my taste and his tastes differ. So, generally, we would try to choose meals that neither one of us disliked. However, from time to time, we each chose to have a meal that was one preference and not the other's. No one felt disrespected if the other chose to prepare themselves something else. Now that I have kids, I've chosen to think of it as choosing not to eat what I prepared rather than refusing what I made. With 6 kids, I could never please everyone. So, I try to make meals that please the majority and if I something is served that isn't liked, kids were free to choose to make themselves something for themselves. As they got older, we practiced eating 'polite portions' in order to expose them to new foods - usually a small spoon size of an item. Sometimes all they did was touch it to their tongue. That was more my husband's idea than mine. Whatever, if they 'tried' I wouldn't make a big deal out of letting them make themselves something else. It was a low pressure thing and did help them learn to eat new tastes.
  8. What are your iron levels? Low iron has been implicated in some leg issues at bed time.
  9. I chose 'Other' In Alaska, home-schooling can be anything from complete and totally free of any oversight at all to being enrolled in a public or charter school and receiving a State allotment. Many hs-ers I know take advantage of one of the oversight option because of the allotment and with those programs there are rules and regulations which vary from minimum to strict depending on the program you choose. Since many, many hs-ers here choose one of these options, I know that they are meeting the minimum standards determined by their Board of Directors or School Board. Of course, we have independent schoolers and un-schoolers who may not meet any standard what-so-ever but I've never run into them. So, who knows?
  10. While the dr is trying to figure things out, ask him about AZO. It's an over-the-counter supplement to help with the burning and urgency. It helped my daughter tremendously. The doctor actually recommended it while she was on antibiotics. It does turn your pee a lovely shade of orange but it was a beneficial in the relief of the annoying symptoms even after the infection cleared. (helping with lingering burning, urgency, etc)
  11. I think your frustration today is based on two things: 1. You seriously overreacted about a bus being late. Even if the sub is trained and prepared to work on the special ed buses that doesn't mean that everything will flow smoothly his first time. Take a deep breath and relax. 2. You really don't seem to understand the process of bidding on a contract for a job. Generally a 'bid' is only open to qualified applicants. This just isn't a hill to die on.
  12. Closed for fire safety reasons and to keep unwanted family pets out. Now that they are older and even more capable than I am of getting themselves outside in event of a fire, they can do as they choose. DD keeps hers closed because she doesn't want the cats to eat her rats and snake. DS usually keeps his open so the cat, which likes to sleep in his room, can get out to use the litter box if needed.
  13. My daughter used to get it frequently as a toddler/preschooler, She had it so often that she would come to me , tilt her head back and ask for her 'tickle drops'. Her's was a viral thing aggravated by allergies.
  14. I normally have absolutely no issue taking pills. Every night I take a combination of 10 pills and capsules. I pop them all in my mouth at one time, take and sipo and swallow. However, last summer I was really sick and hospitalized and I needed to take magnesium supplements. Those things were HUGE and very bitter and I was pretty sick so my gag reflex was working over time. I was having a hard time keeping anything down so the thought of trying to get them down was really daunting. One night, after days of trying, a nurse came in a said she had a 'never-fail' trick. Okay, let's see what you've got. She brought in a mini container of apple sauce and said take a spoonful, drop the pill on and swallow. I never imagined it would work, but ti went right down. Like I said, I never normally have problems so I didn't expect this to help at all, but it was down in less than a second. So, maybe give it a try.
  15. Is this for personal use or something you want to sell? There is no problem if you want to write something for your own use.
  16. I was seriously ill last summer and in the hospital for 14 days. My DH is currently on a 3 year overseas assignment. Because the illness was so severe he came home to take care of me and the kids. Now, I'll be the first to admit that there are a LOT of things that took place that I don't remember clearly. Two of my children took me to the emergency dept and they mention things that happened, things I said, etc and I have no memory of it. But, recently dh was home again, a year later, and the subject of me not being able to remember came up. He was filling in some of the details and I was saying it never happened. He argued that it definitely did. He was sitting in the hospital waiting room while I got an MRI and..... going on and on with all the details. He would not admit he was wrong. After all, since it was blurry for me, how could I possibly know for certain that he was mistaken. It was only after I pointed out to him that he returned home the day AFTER I was discharged and he was never with me at the hospital that he admitted that he 'might' be wrong. edited for clarity

'Sex offender' can have a lot of meanings. Do you know what the offense was? But, as it's said, trust your gut. Edit: Due to new information.... Ugh. Child porn. Okay, No. Just...No
  18. Yikes. No experience but sending all the best. Hope you heal quickly and your pain is well controlled.
  19. Lots of people above had really good comments about taking the 8:00 class. So, I'll just add that classes are usually only 15 weeks. It's a pretty brief period of time in the grand scheme of things. If this works for your daughter academically and helps her toward her long term goals, I would consider it a few weeks well spent.
  20. First time I ever heard it was when we moved to Australia.
  21. Glad to hear you are finally on the way to mending. Hope it heals quickly.
  22. My kids have flown without me quite a few times and I've flown with other people's kids. ID was never an issue. They have been asked at times but when they've given their age, TSA just moved on. It wasn't an issue. Personally, in my experience, it goes a long way toward making the passage through security easier to have boarding pass ready to go and tell the kid to just look secure and confident. The only time I've ever had trouble was when someone elses kid was with me and he mom insisted she give them passport, state ID, letter to allow he to travel with me, etc. When the TSA agent learned she was 15, he was more aggravated by the extra 'stuff' she handed him than anything else. YMMV, of course, but in my experience, it has never been a big deal.
  23. Yep, as others said, this demands an in-person appearance at the bank.
