  1. CONSTRUCTION GINGERBREAD ¾ C buttermilk 6 Tbsp butter or margarine 1 C brown sugar ½ C molasses 1 large egg 5 C flour 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp ginger 1 tsp cinnamon ½ tsp salt Dough for gingerbread construction projects is perfectly edible; it just has more flour in it to make it sturdier than gingerbread cookie dough. It’s simple to put together, and should chill for an hour before being rolled out for baking. 1. In a large saucepan, heat the butter and buttermilk until just melted. Remove from heat. 2. Add the brown sugar and molasses. Beat in the egg. 3. Mix the spices, salt and baking soda with one cup of flour. Incorporate into wet mixture. 4. Add flour one cup at a time until dough is smooth and stiff enough to be flexible, but not crumbly or sticky. The texture of the dough will change and become more malleable as it rests. 5. Divide the dough in half; flatten each half in a plastic bag and roll it out before chilling for at least an hour. ROYAL ICING 3 egg whites 1/2 tsp cream of tartar 4 cups confectioners’ sugar optional food coloring & extract
  2. It's a good way to get enough protein when actively building muscle; increasing protein intake improves muscle mass when doing muscle building exercises like weight lifting, and should be ingested within 30 minutes of the workout for maximum benefit. Whey-based powders cause stomach upset for a lot of people, but pea-based protein is gentler on the digestive system. I like Orgain Chocolate, but the vanilla is yucky imo. Sometimes I use it to make protein muffins or other baked goods. I mix it with yogurt, banana, flax & chia seeds, a little olive oil, and a bunch of ice and water in my ninja blender cup - it is difficult to get it to mix thoroughly otherwise.
  3. Where is the angry-face emojii?!
  4. I've found that pans of cinnamon rolls can be made ahead and frozen. Ime they sell much better than muffins or cupcakes.
  5. I tried it for ~3 months, and didn't notice any difference in my focus.
  6. Lol! Oops! Welp, it's probably too late now, but the link was supposed to be for gloves I've purchased from amazon which are now out of stock. Honestly, we usually buy the stretch knit texting gloves at Walmart for cheap. They look most like this first link - but these are more expensive than the ones we usually buy in person. The other links look similar and cost less, plus different colors... Original Cheapo Style Cost Less, Look Better Different Colors You might find stretch knit texting gloves cheap on ebay, too. I got some thinsulate gloves that cut the wind while nordic skiing from ebay, and they're quite nice for the price.
  7. IME, long fingers will always go through the fingertips of stretchy knit gloves eventually. But it sounds like he'll lose them anyway - maybe before that happens! These are thin knit gloves which can be used with a smartphone, and also have somewhat long fingers before stretching.
  8. I'm wondering... I might possibly have turned off auto updates for apps on my phone. Maybe it will never update to the new format?
  9. Oops! Apparently a zombie started by my hitting the "back to the beginning of time" button instead of the next page number...
  10. The changes, which I've known about for weeks, have not hit my phone app yet. This is really the only platform I use it with. I didn't realize you could get points for listening to the excellent podcasts though... I've been listening to them on Spotify!
  11. MIT Splash is this weekend, so campus will be full of high school students.
  12. How about upholstery pleather? Upholstery grades of fabric should stand up better to constant use than regular fabrics.
  13. I used to do transcription for infectious disease doctors, but I am not a doctor myself... osteomyelitis is a bone infection most commonly treated with IV antibiotics. As Ellen noted above, vascular disease (which can be caused by heavy drinking and/or diabetes (alcohol is pure sugar!), as well as nicotine) complicates treatment, and oftentimes amputations are necessary. Lots of times, the infection can be antibiotic resistant. If it does not improve, it will lead to sepsis. I'm sorry for the poor prognosis, your stress over it, and also for the suffering you endured as a child and while watching people you love make self-destructive choices. I hope you are able to work through some of these feelings through the counseling services included in hospice care.

  15. My dd flew by herself with no problems three times last summer when she was 16yo (aside from luggage three days late on the first trip). She took Southwest for two of the flights, and American for the third. She had plane changes, and also had to find a ground transportation shuttle, and she did fine. I agree with PP^ that she's probably checking the unaccompanied minor box or something similar, or maybe an adult needs to be the one to purchase the ticket.
  16. We LOVE MLP: Friendship is Magic! That's a great choice - very prosocial about friend relationships.

  18. Our supply pipe between our well - on the other side of the state highway - and our house froze during a very cold winter a few years ago, and we had no running water for three months until it thawed. Luckily the well head has a constantly running overflow, and dh filled five 5-gallon buckets across the road every night for flushing toilets during the day. We had a camping water jug with spigot for the kitchen, and went into town for the laundromat and to take showers at a fitness center which we afforded due to a gift certificate we had acquired. It was certainly inconvenient. We refinanced our house over the winter to include construction repairs and had a new well drilled in the spring. We thoroughly insulated the well supply pipes and also upgraded the water systems in our basement.

  20. I still don't have any idea who y'all are talking about! 🤣

  22. I just looked up Soolantra, and it is just Ivermectin! That does make sense, since Ivermectin is used to treat parasites like worms, and rosacea (and most acne) is caused by skin mites. I wonder if you can just rub some OTC Ivermectin paste (horse wormer) from Tractor Supply into your skin, or if you'd need to mix it with another base cream...?
  23. Once my rosacea was under control, I stopped using the soap. If I had a little flare up I'd use Prosacea medicated rosacea gel, which I get at Walmart for less than $10. The bumps & redness do go away eventually with the soap/gel combination. I recently had a larger flare up that was quickly knocked back down by the soap. ETA: Prosacea gel has sulfur for the active ingredient, which is how I figured out to use sulfur soap.
