  1. :iagree: :iagree: Or cry. I wish I could take my own advice, though, as I cry at the drop of a hat. :glare: Op----> :grouphug:
  2. I so know what you mean. The kids are practically brain dead, I'm out of energy and ready for this year to be over, and yet there is still so much left to do!! It doesn't seem fair!
  3. I know nothing about horses, other than they are majestic to look at and I would love to have some. That said, he is stunning. He seems to be posing for the camera and the look on his face just radiates 'tude!
  4. Have you looked in thrift stores? The ones I go to always have lots of them. You can look through them that way to see if there is one you like. You have received some really good suggestions, though!
  5. This would have been me -----> first this :001_huh: then this :scared:, and finally this:svengo: I just don't do snakes. Shudder.
  6. Wow. Just. Wow. I have never heard of such a thing. Dh and the kids were also stunned when I told them your story. I agree with everyone else that the dinner you served sounded divine and the lady is a whackadoodle. You now know why these people aren't making friends. :grouphug: to you, Audrey.
  7. How beautiful!! I am sure you will all be very happy there. Congratulations!!!
  8. :iagree:I agree with this. I would chalk it up to one of those problems translating thoughts through e-mail and leave it at that. I *love* the goat comment!!:lol:
  9. Ok---- THIS is what I should have said. Great idea!! OP, do you have a tent to offer them?
  10. Well, you asked. :D I dislike someone telling me what I will and won't do, especially in my own home. I dislike people playing games and using threats to get what they want. I also have a hard time with house guests who stay longer than three or four days in the *guest room*. And those are for people I love dearly and who cause no strife within the household. Other 'guests' I am ready to give the boot after a day or so. So, uh, I would have a big problem with your situation. :D And to answer your question, since you are asking and it is your brother & his family (as opposed to your dh's), I would say 'no'.
  11. Brag away!! :D Congrats to your (darling) girls!!
  12. Actually, the part I bolded is exactly why I haven't purchased materials from them. Their website (at the last time I looked in Aug) was beyond confusing and I found no pricing for individuals--- everything was packaged in groups for entire classes. I gave up and went elsewhere for what I needed. I have checked with them for three years now for various classes, and for three years I have gone elsewhere for my materials. I won't even bother to check their site again, as it's just a time killer for me and I would rather spend my time on a site where everything is laid out clearly for me.
  13. :iagree: I would have a problem with it if you were fudging residency or something like that, but if this is the school your child would attend anyway, then, no, I don't see a problem with it. It is different from, oh, say, buying a camera to take on vacation then returning it when you got back because you got the photos you needed. You pay your taxes, so you should be able to take advantage of the services.
  14. Calc I and II (at the cc) Java and C++ (at the cc) Physics AP English Personal Finance (1 semester) International Cuisine ~~ or International Cooking ~~ haven't fully decided yet, but are leaning toward cuisine. (1 semester) *Hoping to add: Literature study (1 semester---- in the works/not fleshed out yet)
  15. Val and Sangita, thanks so much for the great info. Based on your posts and my own thoughts, we will be choosing an AP Lang class. Thanks again, and thanks to everyone who shared their thoughts and experiences!!
  16. That sounds like a great day out! Happy Birthday!!!
  17. :001_wub: What a cutie! I love how he is looking at you.
  18. Val, can you share why you think the AP would be better for your ds than the Adv Comp? A PM is fine if you would rather not post here. I would really appreciate it. Sangita, can you share with me, too? I'm sitting in the boat with Laura... in fact, I have a page up with the AP Lang on it (not PA, though), but I keep hesitating to push the button to seal the deal! I can't help but wonder about TPS Adv Comp. :001_huh:
  19. I can't comment from a 'teacher' standpoint, but I compared the two side by side and dd and I both preferred the second edition for reasons we can't put into words. I suspect it's along the lines of what Jann posted, though. :D If you decide on the second edition and don't have a source for it yet, I do have mine available for sale... I have the text, the Teacher's Guide (actually I have two TGs~~ not sure how that happened ) and most of the tests. I have all the answers, but not all the tests. I do have tests & answers from the 3rd ed. that I used in place of the missing ones, though. It doesn't align perfectly, but we managed. Anyway, I just thought I'd toss that in for you, as I know I had a hard time finding mine, which is how I wound up with a few missing tests! I do wish you luck in deciding--- there are just so many options!!
  20. Awesome!! I hope it all works out! What an exciting time for all of you. :grouphug:
  21. This is my 16y/o ds. His hair is so think the first bit of water or rain will just roll off it!! He tried the 'in style' cuts over the years and just went back to what he was used to. With his think hair, it meant frequent trips to the salon to have it thinned (every two weeks) and it required daily maintenance and styling (gel, pomade, etc). He hated that, so he is just back to a regular 'guy cut'. The longer hair just doesn't work for him!
  22. :iagree: I am so sorry for your loss. :grouphug::grouphug:
