  1. I see than Yesterdays Classics has released a third ebook package. Several of these I already have from my previous Gateway to the Classics subcription several years ago. I am curious though, how many books does Gateway have available on their site currently. Promises of two books a week, ought to be quite a few. However, towards the end of my previous subscription, the books were not being released quite that quickly. Does anyone have a current subscription give me an idea what they have on their site now?
  2. http://www.scienceforhighschool.com/shop/a4-high-school-biology-in-your-home-total-package/ It has specimens to dissect, but looking at the other stuff, it seems to focus more on cells and bacteria. I would thing (no science backround here) that the cells and bacteria would be of higher importance.
  3. I'm so confused, lol. I was really considering the "Science for High School" biology course. Then I looked at the link for lab materials from the Home Scientist. The lab supplies for the Science for High School looks more like prep work to become a butcher. Using CK12 just seems like such a hassle (I've been unable to really use any of the materials thus far). Has anyone really used the Science for High School program, and offer some input?
  4. I am a lefty, so I had to test myself to see how I cross my T and A. I do it from right to left. Other than that, and of course my slant, I write just like a right handed person. Nothing special for teaching a left handed child, other than avoiding having them sit on the right hand side of a righty.
  5. I am so very sorry for you and Rowan! How awful. I wish there was some way to take away the pain. Again, so sorry!
  6. Thank you very much for the pdf. I have the book on the shelf for my son to read. I have a hard time keeping up trying to read materials for 6 kids so that I can be on the "same page". This should help alot.
  7. Was this it? http://www.cuchicago.edu/experience/arts/visual-arts/art-lessons/
  8. I ordered in Mid July, and received my order quickly. I figure it's the nature of the business, and August and September will be the busy months.
  9. That is rather limited, lol. I wish they had more, and I'd be less wishy washy about it. I do have a $10 off offer here, making it $39 instead of the regular $49.
  10. I see that they have lesson plans to go with the issues as well, so they do expect them to useful in a educational setting. I didn't go thru it closely however.
  11. A month or so ago, I received a solicitation to subscribe to Lapham's Quarterly. It looks interesting, but it's a bit pricey. Has anyone ever read this magazine, or have their kids (older) read it? Is is worth it. The magazines website http://www.laphamsquarterly.org/ TIA
  12. I just pick up what I can used from Better world books. I'd take tree/plant guides as well as bird, and a snake/bug/frog/turtle guides. I've gotten about everything but the trees and plants covered. Every time the kids find something new, we look it up. As far as apps, I don't have a smart phone, and live in an area of spotty reception anyways. Sorry I can't offer anything there.
  13. I've only ordered thru them 2 or 3 times. Never received a order confirmation, or shipping confirmation. It just shows up.
  14. Looks like Activity Bags has pulled out of the sale, as well as the Alcazar Audioworks. I don't think this sale was thought out well.
  15. A globe. May sound funny, but I finally bought one when my 6 yr old thought Alaska was next to Hawaii after looking at a map of the U.S. with a cutout for Hawaii and Alaska in the lower left hand corner. Now she can see where it's really located.
  16. I just looked closer. Yep, looks like lesson plans for up to year 6. I believe after that is where you run into the password protected stuff.
  17. I have a cheapy $5 one. I don't know how I've not broken that thing yet. Only does 10 sheets at a time, so holepunching jobs can take forever. May consider this one when it finally comes time to replace. Can't be much longer.......
  18. Answer keys are under Teacher Support materials. They are password protected, and the password is CIMT4maths
  19. 3 hole punch. Brads, pencil sharpners, colored pencils, binder clips for thicker bunches of paper (my preference over paper clips), tabbed dividers. That's all I got off the top of my head w/o getting into laminators, more artsy type stuff etc.
  20. And, I'm sorry, I want to add. You can get this package in both Kindle and epub formats. She'll send both to you upon your request. I have both even though, so far, we only have kindles. Just to make sure my bases are covered in the future.
  21. You can print off Baldwin. When I've done that, I've typically copy and pasted to a open office doc, so I can adjust font, and print duplex.
  22. I would just pick one good history encyclopedia, and one good atlas, and leave it at that. You may be able to find all the maps you need online even. Also, for purchasing books, a couple of website I love for used books are thriftbooks and better world books. Prices include shipping, and they often run sales.
