  1. another "many sons" I taught a vacation bible school around 10 years ago and used the song. The kids loved marching around an. It was new to the kids LOL and new to the parents that didnt' attend church as kids. I had 50 kids marching around it sure was good for burning off energy. I wonder if the "many" vs 7 has to do with denominations or regional. I learned in Nazarene church rural Alabama circa 1970 something LOL
  2. maybe some of us have been on this forum before things got fancy LOL. Ya remember the old forum style. Also without the person even putting in there profile she mention the state, coop a few other things. I found where someone lived. I didn't mention it cause I didn't plan on meeting up or anything. So I agree people have a right to not put there state. I forever put south east but I'm sure through post people know what state I'm in My kids are also grown. I probably post every couple of months these days. So you young millennial parents want to do things different go for it Generation x person hear started on the internet as a 20 something. Its funny when email first came out they told us to make them anonymous LOL. We now use them in business with full names. So maybe the well trained mind will turn into a facebook type forum in the future.
  3. Omron b/p are really good and accurate. I'm a old nurse LOL and have a manual also. I get the same reading. I check it periodically cause electronic anything can malfunction. THis is the one I got for my dh. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Omron-10-Series-Upper-Arm-Blood-Pressure-Monitor-with-Cuff-that-fits-Standard-and-Large-Arms-BP785N/38335906?action=product_interest&action_type=title&beacon_version=1.0.2&bucket_id=irsbucketdefault&client_guid=41bb9fcd-3782-459d-3bcf-395bdfdb7dba&config_id=106&customer_id_enc&findingMethod=p13n&guid=41bb9fcd-3782-459d-3bcf-395bdfdb7dba&item_id=38335906&parent_anchor_item_id=38335909&parent_item_id=38335909&placement_id=irs-106-t1&reporter=recommendations&source=new_site&strategy=PWVUB&visitor_id=W35awXlFNRsU8RBU8ChPBY
  4. I just put mine in the washer with a white towel. I then use detergent and Clorox. THey get very clean. I have the clear liners.
  5. I had a facebook account years ago. I didn't like the bragging, gossip and high school crap of it. I open a new one a year ago with no friend. Its more like the old yahoo group account for me. I'm in several fitness group. I have zero personal information. I follow some business etc but that about it. I have meet up with people that I found in my fitness group that are local but that's about it Facebook is becoming like old yahoo groups/chat for people. The more popular instant news picture now days is Instagram, twitter and off course the kids love snap chat. I pretty much keep up with my adult kids nephew nieces and stuff through their Instagram accounts. They rarely use facebook at all. Facebook is for middle age adult now. I see a lot of the business I followed are also just not using facebook much any more.
  6. what were they thinking LOL Maybe with todays all elastic stretchy fabric they may be more comfortable. But like everything being sold now I have a really hard time buying any of it. I seriously feel like I've I'm in a time machined back to 86 or something.
  7. Oh I remember the shirts with the 3 snaps at the crotch LOL. They were not comfortable
  8. THe last time legging were in style was 80's we called them stirrup pants LOL. We also wore the scrunch ankle boots. They came with a elastic strap that went under your foot within the boot so no ride up. Between my childhood of the 70 and teen years of the 80's everything has come back. There is really nothing new. My sons girlfriend was having the same issues. I sewed some elastic strapes for her. So if you like the look for a bit of thread and time make your straps to keep the pants within the boots - good luck.
  9. I wear white all year long. I have long sleeve white dress I wear. I have sevveral white slacks and skirts. I dont' think its the color but the materal that makes white maybe not be appropriate for a certain time of year. I'm not going to wear white linen pants to a christamas party but would for a 4th of july kwim. I think all of the old rules are just that because we left the heam-line rules for each season a long time ago. The rest are antiqated also.
  10. I'm a ER nurse this nurse was a burn patient unit charge nurse. She followed the law and protected her patients and her license . I and my coworkers have watch the long unedited version. There was a couple of things she could of done to deescalate the cop. But since she doesn't work ER she doesn't know the MVA ER procedures. My guess they did a tox screen on arrival. We do them on every MVA. So she could of said I can't allow you assess its against policy but let me see if a tox screen was done in the ER or she could of directed him to the patients MD. THe nurse should of not dealt with this guy for an hour. She should of volleyed off to someone higher up the chain. Yeah she had administration or someone on the phone but the police had been badgering her for an hour by this point. They were not getting there way. .She was taking the nice nurse diplomatic thing to far. The guys in the white shirts were probably administration staff or house supervisor. The 2 security guards were a joke SHe did the right thing but she should of told them to wait in the ER and someone above her paygrade would come see them SHe was being nurse nice and this cop got a power trip. He was in the wrong. The second cop was coming in without full information trying to be man diplomatic condescending to her. The sad thing is the guy was still working until just a few days ago. also adding that this cop would of been drawing blood on a patient that had already receive opioid pain med. It would of not been accurate. He surely knew this. THis is one of the reason we draw upon arrival.
  11. well I'm with scarlet I know people with 50 year system that have never been pumped. IF you have long adequate field lines then it should never clog. My own system is 20 years old and has never been pumped. The only people I know that ever get them pumped have been people from the city that move out here and demand it get pumped before they buy the property. THen guess what they don't pump it either LOL If you had your septic tank put on property that has not perk correctly then you will get back-up, clogged lines, tree roots can rip up field lines. My neighbor who house was built in 1968 just now had to redo his field lines. My inlaw have a house build "late 50's rural that has never had the septic pumped SO anyway that's our exeirence not sure what part of the country push or needs such frequent pumping out
  12. I've been a nurse for 25 years all the hospitals I have worked for had a disaster code. We were all expected to be there/sleep there for the duration. He would of been told this during orientation . The hospital usually will hold off to call the code until they are sure. Cause it cost a lot to house/feed a whole staff. We are not paid to sleep time but meals are provided. We are usually all ready 12 hours shift so we just literally have a opposite shift partner we shift cots with. You don't' sleep much and its heck. Cause then when its all over you are exhausted but still come back in for the regular grind. I've never worked with a nurse that bailed during a disaster code. I've lived at hospital through hurricane and ice storms here in the south. We were so short during a 90's ice storm I had to bring my kids. They hospital set up child care.
  13. my son spent a year as vegan all about the early adult hood finding there way. I pretty much just cooked 2 meals for a year. He was happy with lots of bean/quinoa/tofu meal. He is not a picky eater. When on vacation I took veg burgers and other false vegan foods. He ate lots of fries LOL. I pretty much see most young vegan/veg eating lots of greasy fries so I was always trying to find healthy meals for him. We get a lot of young women with low iron that aren't eating meat. I would ask her whats on her diet or just take her shopping with you when you get to vacation destination
  14. I live on the gulf coast for years. The hurricanes you learn which ones to say or go depending on how far off shore your are and what side of the hurricane eye your are on. The summer of 05 before Katrina we were told to evacuate for cindy and ?dennis someohting like that. When you live in teh zone you have the list for quick evacuation and then if you stay "shelfter for weeks with out clean water or electiricy" I know for some they just ocund afford to leave for a 3rd time that summer. It's expensive. I had neigburs that couldn't afford hotel room so they just decided to drive and stay in their car a few days. I actaully ended up staying for Katrina and I lived on a bayou which thankfully didnt' flood. They have differnt zones for evacuation. I was in the non manutarory but advised. There were lots of us that stayed. We moved computer and imporatnt stuff upstairs just in case. We had a flat bottom boat. So what I'm saying is you are prepareid. I now live on a lake and we get flooding. I happen to be on a hill so it want be my house but I could be cut off for a while. So I'm ready. I think for people in houston. The parts that flooded probably were in the zone that has never flooded before with previous storms . But the fact this one parked and didnt leave just flooded with people that just never saw it coming. The official were in a tough situation. I've been on an interstate with all lanes going north waiting to evacuate. It hell and then when you have a inner city I'm thinking there are poor folks that don't even drive. So public bus would need to run. But you don't know what gonna a flood or not. Its just a gamble do we spend the money get all the people out or chances it. The city gamble and people gamble. If you are living paycheck to paycheck you have to decide do I take the money and evacuation and it not be a big event or take my chances. Like I said I evacuate twice the summer of Katrina. There were a lot of that had 2 false alarms that summer. THe hurricane were suppose to be a 4 or 5 and actually only a 3. Which a 3 you usually don't leave you just ride it out. Seriously if your got shutter and in a not food zone or on piling its a party kwim Houston chanced it because of the death after rita and all the bad unpreparedness of rita and katrina. I know the rest of the country just wonder how does this happen. I ask that about our barrier island that only wealthy can afford to build on again and again. The storms take it away and fed flood insurance keeps rebuilding for them.(that's our tax dollars)
  15. Both of these articles spell it all out. The second one list the 2 other navy accidents along with the Fitzgerald and McCain http://www.straitstimes.com/asia/5-burning-questions-on-what-led-to-collision-of-uss-john-s-mccain-in-waters-near-Singapore http://www.straitstimes.com/world/united-states/us-navy-to-conduct-broader-probe-of-operations-after-uss-john-s-mccain-collision I'm so heart broken for these families. I know with the Fitzgerald I was looking at all those young people. The only older one was one year from retirement. I kept thinking I hope the Navy gives the widow all his retirement/benefits. There is something wrong with the 7th fleet 4 accidents in a year. The army has had 2 Blackhawk accidents one in ?miss and the other Hawaii with deaths within the past few months. I wonder if its being undermanned they are just exhausted and making mistakes, equipment is being sabotage or terrible training. I know there were troop cuts a few years ago. I'm wondering if that's what causing all these accidents. Overworked military
  16. we have beautiful clear skies and the ellipse has hit its peak for us in the 90% zone B'ham bama. The light is the same as if you had dark sunglasses on at the beach or tinted windows on your car. But its natural kwim. Pretty cool!
  17. I live in alabama and wear flip flops all year long but for my job close toes shoes are a necessary evil LOL. I really hate shoes
  18. I started graying in my 20's by age 29 everyone was telling me "you know you got gray hair" I was tired of hearing it so I havne't been without dye since LOL. I'm now 47. I actaully started dying the gray at age 27 with temorary stuff but it really didnt' work for my hair. So permanit dye for a long time. I will continue to dye until I'm ready to look old LOL.
  19. Lets get real if one of the democratic leaders suggest a moderiztion CNN would of worded the whole thing differently. They would of used words like revolutionary, modern and kindness would drip from every word of the article. I think its funny today CNN has 2 fox contributors comments on their page. They are trying to look balanced LOL. There are a few people on each channel that are actually balance. I wouldn't give my blanket trust to any media source They have been bias for a long time. I don't trust any new organization anymore. I search for my own sources. I read foreign press then make a decision on things. I hate how America has lost true journalism. Its freedom of a press that's suppose to actually be for the people I'm a independant but not blind to the media biaz against republicans This BBC artical approached the same subject without the bias http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-40618356 Right to bare arms: Us congressman protest against dress code
  20. I suggest the dental school also it keeps the cost down for you. I have bad teeth. My sibillng do not. My mother has tetrecycline in her last trimester with pneumonia while pregnat with me. I had all my baby teeth caapped. The research says it doesn't effect the enamel in the permanent teeth. I'm gonna say BS. I've had a life time of issues. I have kindergarden pciture all silver caps. Then around age 22 when I had a good job. I got all my molars crowned. Its sad being that young with so much dental work. It could be genetically I got the bad bacteria in my mouth or the invitro drugs changed my body and teeth so that I didn't get normal enamel. So I manage to make it to age 46 with just crowns/fillings. I got my first root canal last years. The root part has held up but not enought tooth was left to keep the post/crown. The crown part has broke off twice. Its not painful just cosmetic SO this year big money. I'm getting my first dental inplant. I would be getting a bridge but lucky my insurance decided to covre 80% of the implant. I have insurance and stuff now but I have used a dental school and got great service SO sorry you are dealing with the teeth issues. I've brushed twice or something 3 times a day, flossed and did everything right. It just suck. I've only had one dentist that was a total bitch that started in own me about my dental hygiene. I told her off LOL. I've been doing everything right and its just sucks. My current dentist of 10 years has been the greatest. He actually did work in 3rd world country. He said it was eye opening to him. It helps him really evaluate a mouth with no hygiene vs one with some type inherited dental issues.
  21. Great thought I've never had glasses not made correctly but it could easily happen I image
  22. I've been wearing glasses and contacts for alost 40 years. I have traveled and used random professionals and never came across such different prescriptions. I even went to the cheapest Walmart and all those type of places. He has randomly found some bad doc He is not speaking up during the exam. I will sit there and go back and forth on each section till i'm more sure. sometimes I tell them no difference or I cant' decide. They will keep working with you. I also have astigmatism so it takes a while. My dh also has worn eyewear for longer than I and never had such random prescriptions. I think he is not participating in the exam well or he has some neurological changes happening.
  23. IT means they love and proud of their grandkids. They love to talk about them.
