  1. Bumping in case an Idiot's Guide user is around this morning. :D
  2. I've seen some posts where others are using the Complete Idiot's Guide to Music History for music history. If you're doing this, how are you using this book? Do you read a section, create notebook pages, use other books too, etc? My goal is to break the book into the 4 year history cycle and teach a part each year. So I'm looking for suggestions before I start my planning. Thanks! Mandy
  3. It drives me crazy!! I like seeing all the places my books visit. But I'm pretty sure I've never gotten any notice from them other than the order confirmation.
  4. We did ancients level 1 four days a week, mainly me reading followed by copywork, a history pocket activity or simply drawing a pic of what we read. It usually took around 20 minutes or so. My older 2 did ancients level 2 four days a week and took about 30 minutes depending on how much they did that day. I just printed out the schedule for each of them and they checked stuff off as they did it. Some days they couldn't finish all of "Day ##" so it was spread over 2 days. My older ones always hung around when I was reading to the little one, especially SOTW. Heck, even my hubby who works from home would wander out of this office to listen. :) We really like the program and can't wait to start Middle Ages this year!
  5. I ordered from RR late Friday night and got my box via UPS today. But I didn't get any shipping email from them, only the order confirmation email.
  6. My DD has used Easy Grammar for the past 3 or 4 years and sometimes has a hard time grasping the new stuff too. But EG comes back around each year so if she doesn't completely 'get it' this year, she'll work on it again next year. And each year they build upon it slowly so it doesn't overwhelm my DD. I have also found that having her try to memorize things like the prepositional phrases or pronouns is very helpful. I looked on youtube and found some kids who had memorized by singing to a tune so she watched those and started singing away.
  7. Thanks for the comments everyone! It sounds like that, for us, the old version will be enough. Both my pocket book and I thank you. :) Mandy
  8. We are going to start vocabulary next year and I really like the look of MCT Caesar's English in general. I see that there is an older version and a new, enhanced version so I'm wondering which I should use. The main differences I see besides price are that it ties in better with other MCT products (which we don't use), it has more photos/history of Rome (we studied last year) and talks more about the English-Spanish connection (we study French, not Spanish). But it is supposed to have more reinforcement activities like word searches which are things my kiddos really enjoy. So my question for those who have seen the old and new: Is the new version worth the extra $25 for a family like ours? Thanks for your help! Mandy
  9. All my kiddos (ages 12, 10 and 6) use French Level 1 and love it. Not only have the enjoyed it but they have really, really learned a lot. I know some Spanish but I can't help them with French at all so anything they learned they got from the program. They like the computer-based format better than worksheets or just audio programs. I definitely think it is worth the money. If you watch for a sale from different companies, you can get a better price. I bought all 5 levels for less than $400. Mandy
