  1. I love all the ideas! The neighbor kids are "okay," just really aggressive. I've had some try to argue with be about my 2 hour "quite-time" rule. We will defiantly be put up a sign this year. I love all your signs.:001_smile:
  2. I was 18, he was 20. We are now 26 and 28 and have loved every minute of it. ;)
  3. 1,100 for a family of six. (183ft/person) I really miss our larger home we had. (1,500 ft, but a MUCH better lay out) I think larger homes are easier to keep clean; at least they don't look as dirty with the same amount of unfolded laundry in them. :tongue_smilie: We don't have a yard here, and with little kids, that is what I miss the most. A big back yard, surrounded by a privacy fence (if you're in the city) with a play house/swing makes a huge difference to a small house.
  4. I would totally do it! How exciting that you have the ability to pay off all your debt in one big sweep. We owned a home in VA for 4 years and loved it, now we are on base, and after this we plan on renting (cheep, cheep renting) so we can save up a large emergency fund and a large down payment. In the military we have the option of a 0% (or nearly 0%) down VA loan, but we will never do that again. We want to have equity in our home the first day so that if the market (nation wide or only just on our street) drops 15% or so, we will not be in over our heads. Get a GREAT realtor! This is your biggest asset and it's not time to turn it over to someone who is just really nice. Some one who does over a million dollars in sales a year and has been through down markets. It feels so good to be debt free. It even feels good in a tiny rental house with four kids. (as long as you have a plan for the future!)
  5. Thanks Pamelia! We belong to a "Keepers" group here, but nowhere as organized as that one. :) It looks great. Do you pay the annual fee to WHO? What do you get in return? I will defiantly check out the WA thread on this site. Thanks again!
  6. We listen to only one chapter a week. I put it on while they are coloring a picture of what they are hearing (DD 7 and 5) or DD (7) starts drawing (on a half blank, half lined page) to put in her note book. I do this so I can clean my kitchen! ( -; After we finnish one CD I let them listen to it as much as they want. They really love the CD's and only introducing one chapter a week keeps them looking forward to more. Enjoy!
  7. Oh, I'm am so sorry you are under this much stress. I don't have a lot of detailed advice, just "hope" that there is a peace to be found on the other side of debt. DH and I have done stupid with money as well, but as of last month, we are debt free (praise God!) and will never go back! (Lord willing...) We owe all of it to hard work and lots of knowledge from Dave Ramsey. http://www.daveramsey.com You don't need to buy anything from his sight to still get great info. (Although Financial Peace University is worth every penny.) I love to listen to his radio show every day, and I still cry when I hear stories of people calling in and yelling, "WE'RE DEBT FREE!!!!" You can also find his books at the library. On an emergency basis, he has great advice on how to deal with credit collectors. (only talking to then every two weeks, not letting them ever be rude to you, know that they lie every time they talk to you, making sure you are paying for your necessities first - not your credit card bill, working deals for pennies on the dollar, NEVER giving them you checking account information, etc...) You have my love and I know you can have a completely different financial reality in the near future. :grouphug: Also, thanks for being so honest about your money. I think the fact that we don't talk about it honestly and openly is one of the reasons so many of us get into trouble.
