  1. maybe im not wording it right? Im not restricting healthy things. Im not restricting unhealthy things. ETA: I had locked the stuff because it was not taking a few of something. Im not even upset it was apples, im upset it was the bag of it. Thanks for the suggestions and I will certainly ask the pediatrician. They dont have any weight issues or health issues. I think I will clear out a lower cabinet for just them and tell them they can have whats in there. I can put some of those juices (where its flavored water), granola bars, snack mixes, homemade popcorn, etc. Its worth trying.
  2. I should explain- i dont care if they have an apple, make a sandwich, grab a glass of water, etc but when they are taking an entire bag/box/container then it becomes an issue. we have a strict food budget and it has to last 2 weeks. They are 4 and 6, not adopted and no major changes in their lives. It actually only started when we moved to where we are now, which i know doesnt really make sense but before we lived here they never did this. Weve lived here since July. I havent tried a cabinet just for them, which is an idea. Like a free for all.
  3. How do you stop the kids from sneaking food when child safety locks wont work (they know how to open them) and they can climb over a baby gate (they get a kitchen chair to climb the tall baby gate)? Im not talking about sneaking a cookie, im talking about entire bags of apples, gal of milk, jar of PB. Its NOT a matter of not feeding them- they are just that down right sneaky and defiant. (by the way, they DO get time outs when they do it and i DO find out because food is gone and they hide it under their beds). EX: This morning i told the girls they could have an apple with lunch. I went to the bathroom and they got into the kitchen and got the entire bag of apples, went into their room and ate them ALL. I gave them a time out, explained that i told them they could have an apple with lunch and that they especially did not need to eat an entire bag. They had just had breakfast (oatmeal and poptart) at 9:30.
  4. Gas is $3.26 and with my KrogerPlus i paid $2.96 this AM :)
  5. I listen to the christian radio station (90.1/93.3/104.3) and country (105.1). ill listen to other things but i prefer those.
  6. Good, we can be weird together :cheers2:
  7. I have no idea. I have been doing it since i can remember. My mom would stand at the sink to make mashed potatoes and shed always peel me one and i have just always done it. I also like eating raw spaghetti, well not so much anymore but i use to sneak it as a kid and when i thought id get caught, id hide it in the couch.
  8. I like them without skin. I also LOVE LOVE LOVE raw potatoes to eat. Peel it, wash it and eat it!
  9. It says "Made In The Image Of God" it doesnt say spiritual. In Fact, the Bible (unless ive been missing something) doesnt specify ever what God looks like. Heaven, Jesus, Satan, yes but what God looks like....no. Which may make it seem like it leans towards spiritual image, but then what does a spirit look like? How is a spirit and adam made of dirt but we are in the image of God? ** NOT starting a religious debate, im asking for what you mean by what you said...
  10. We use and LOVE Zoodles.com here. Its online and free, plus educational and you can pick the content. It is online but they cant just click around on things they shouldnt.
  11. I dont understand this either! Especially by time you get to #2, 3, etc as far as children. Who keeps track? Who has time?!
  12. I was leaning towards Horizons Penmanship, but I like the look of Abeka Writing with Phonics 1 (because it breaks it down into boxes then sentences, etc) but i dont really know?
  13. I taught C that compound words are glued together and that contractions are playing hide and seek. Ex: hotdog. hot is glued to dog but you can un-glue them to make 2 words. It's. the apostrophe is hiding a letter, its hiding I in Is. Maybe relating it in that way could help?
  14. I tried Horizons K with my 4yr old and it was NOT a good fit. I tried the K Math with my 6yr old and it wasnt a good fit either. My 4yr old switched to Rod & Staff and my 6yr old switched to Math U See but that didnt work so we switched to Saxon 1
  15. I have this issue too. It is mostly in my back but my Rheumo told me i have Fibro and we tried depression meds (since they can apparently help with fibro?) and the s/e were so bad and we tried quite a few, i gave up with that fight. Sad I know. I do have pain all over but it starts in my back and is the worst in my back.
  16. N has friends at school, he sees them every day. Im semi happy with them. C has friends from Scouts, Church, HS Group. She sees them weekly- for example her best friend she met at HS Summer Camp and they see each other weekly at Ballet and HS events and they do weekend slumber parties. I am happy with her friends. L has friends from church. She sees them weekly. Im happy with them.
  17. :grouphug: BTDT. When we lived at DHs grandpas house, it was a 1 stoplight town and everyone knew everyone. HATED it.
  18. :grouphug: I would talk to the Guardian Ad Litem. If the caseworker wont stand up to the judge and explain how Monkey is doing well in your care and how switching her can cause further issues, then talk to the GAL and maybe he/she can help. Its not SUPPOSE to be up to the caseworker for placement, a judge is suppose to decide. At least here in OH thats how it works. Maybe the judge wont let you stand up and talk but if you annoy someone enough, surely theyll talk for you or let you talk.
  19. I wonder if you could do glue and then paint/color the glue? Pinterest may have something similar
