  1. That office is not just a "no" but a "heck no!" Our pediatric dentist doesn't allow parents back usually. The kids all go to a large room with many chairs, video games and toys. Its like one big dental party. When ds was little and would be restless or scared they would come get me to sit with him. The kids see the same hygienist each time. There are separate treatment rooms. I'm not sure if parents go into the treatment rooms or not. My children LOVE going to the dentist. DD thinks its unfair they only get to go twice a year and I usually end up carrying out a crying ds because he doesn't want to leave. The last survey they sent out I asked if it could be a little less fun so the children would want to leave.
  2. I bled a lot with my last pregnancy. Three times I was told I was having a miscarriage. That baby is now 7 years old.
  3. Everyone in our house gets flu shots. Both kids were micro preemies and ds continues to have lung issues as a result. I'm sure this makes me extra cautious. If I had a newborn in the house during cold and flu season I would make sure that everyone get the shot. Nothing worse than seeing a sick baby struggling to breathe.
  4. Any activity we do requires an hour drive. I keep a Rubbermaid container with snacks such as dried fruit and granola bars in my car at all times. It helps cut down on our fast food trips.
  5. Slo-niacin also will help make the vldl more fluffy. My husband went from having the smallest particle size to the bigger, fluffy and better for you kind in six months by adding slo-niacin.
  6. Yes! I shop all year round. I have two big boxes in my attic that I try to keep stocked with gifts that I have found on clearance or sale. This way I am always ready for birthdays, Christmas or other occasions that call for gifts. The boxes mostly have kid stuff but if I find adult things I will add them in. At Christmas time I make an inventory of what is in the boxes and match them with people. As for how do I know what they want, dd loves Playmobile, Calico critters, Barbies and small toy animals. That gives me a pretty good range. Ds loves books, Legos, Magnaformers and anything Disney jr. I look for gifts that match their interest. Klutz has a book out on how to make things with Legos so I added that to my stash. If there are toys in the box that I don't think will be loved by my kids then I donate them to Toys for Tots. Its a win either way.

  8. We have a room that could be a dedicated school room. We never use it for that, we prefer to pile extra books and art supplies in there and do work at the dinning room table. The dinning room is central to the whole house and has a sliding glass door that lets natural light in. We are all happiest there and that is where we learn best.
  9. I have opened and closed accounts and the world did not end. We were still able to buy a house and cars. I keep my two oldest open but the rest are fair game.
  10. The Magic School bus kits are fun. My kids are enjoying them. As for the snap circuits we have both the 100 and 300 set. I don't know much about them but both sets get played with. The kids are always swapping pieces between the sets.
  11. She really needs to see a better GI doctor for more testing.
  12. I think the booklet you are looking for is called "Gone from My Sight." Its the one our local hospice uses. Easy to use and has great information. If you FIL has a regular medical doctor make sure you get a do not resuscitate form so that when FIL passes then EMS will honor that. Plus it makes and unattended death a lot easier.
  13. DD8 is very tall and thin for her age. It is almost impossible to find age appropriate pajamas in her size. I found 4 sets! Carters is now making girls pajamas up to size 14. :hurray: :hurray: This is helping the horror of last years shopping for pajamas trip to fade a little. That trip was where I found the nightgown that had a horse on the front, with the words "ride me" in big, bold letters that partially obscured the horse. I'm not going to even start to tell my tales of woe when it came to shopping for shorts and shirts.....
  14. OP never said she was investigating. I understand the anger and frustration with an unreported and unpunished child molester who is out in society. Yet, OP never said that she was not going to report him, it sounds like she is taking steps to protect her family before reporting.
  15. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: LavenderGirl, I hope you get the information you need soon so that this person can be reported and hopefully reap the consequences of his action.
  16. I think it depends on what heavy looks like for you. At 20 I thought having to use a super absorbent pad was awful. At 40+ I'm using the largest incontinence pad I can find, lining it with a sanitary napkin. I'm counting the minutes until all the gyn tests are done and this can end.
  17. I'm having similar experience and am working with my gyn for a solution. Due to scar tissue, a hysterectomy is going to be our option of last resort. There are hot and cold ablations or an IUD would be the first options. I will know more after some testing later this month.
  18. :grouphug: Trying to say this gently.... if she is a real friend then she will understand and respect that you have a difference of opinion. If she does not understand then she values you more as a potential customer than a friend.
  19. I like the Emergency Essential website for some information. They can sometimes be a little over the top but do have some good basic information.
