  1. Old movies are my favorites, here are a few that I love: Mr. Blandings Builds his Dream House Harvey Hold that Ghost Going my Way Bells of St. Mary's For Whom the Bell tolls Lady of Burlesque (the title is racier than the movie) Slippery when Wet with Esther Williams Please Don't Eat the Daisy The Thrill of it All The Thin man series The Egg and I (the start to the Ma and Pa Kettle movie series) Summer Magic Snowball Express The Women
  2. My son's reflux was so bad that he did have surgery to correct it. The procedure is called a Nissen Fundleplaction.
  3. My calico cat doesn't like when the kids jump and scream. She growls twice in warning before taking a swipe at the kids. She has been doing this since they were toddlers and are now 9 and 10 and it still happens just with less frequency. She will also pick a time when she thinks they need to go to bed and will lay on them, and growl when they move, until they fall asleep. Honestly, its kind of nice not being the perpetual bad guy saying "quit running in the house, quit screaming" all I have to do is point out that the cat is not happy. Despite all of this, the kids love her and so do we.
  4. We have had cats for years, some are better with the kids than others. One cat did not like the children as toddlers but once the kids hit about 4 years old and could feed the cat, they became best friends. I would work to keep the toddler and cat seperated and see what progresses as the mama cat weans.
  5. After having a too small fridge for 6 years, Dh convinced me to get a bigger one. BEST. IDEA. EVER. Each day I am so happy that we did this. Its a little thing but it makes a big difference for us.

  7. My current favorite is Little Green Peas. There are also some counting books that are about Ants marching.
  8. I cut the potato in half, spinkle salt, pepper and garlic powder and add a pat of butter, wrap in foil and bake in the oven. Sometimes I add a slice of onion.
  9. I like pretty story books. Llama, Llama series, Father Bruce, Silly Sally, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom are all favorites in our house.
  10. In our area, the budget for EI has been cut so much that EI is not guaranteed even for babies that were micro preemies. When my children were little EI was a wonderful program, today it is almost impossible to get my foster babies approved for EI even though they all have similar medical backgrounds. The therapist are no longer able to bring toys or therapy tools, they are to use what the families have on hand. Instead of physical therapy or occupational therapy weekly, it is now every other week or even every third week. The rational is that the parents should be learning the therapy and doing it, this decreases the need for frequent visits from a licensed therapist. While I can agree that parents should be involved, I don't think parental participation should replace therapy visits as not every parent is willing or able to this. :cursing:

  12. Lots of secrets on both sides of the family. The two that I have the most interest in are the ones involving my parents. While my father was in the military he fathered a child while overseas. The mom wrote to him asking for help for their son. I found the letter while cleaning out his desk after he died. When my mom was a teenager, she was sent away to spend several months with extended family and came back noticeably thinner. I believe that she had a girl that was adopted by the extended family. This is absolutely not a topic open for discussion in that side of the family. There are other stories of infidelity, births, deaths and such but most of the people involved have died.
  13. My foster twins had RSV last year. One spent almost 9 weeks in the hospital and the other spent 6 weeks. After discharge, both boys did very well. Its a wicked virus with no vaccine. They can give synergist monthly, but not every preemie qualifies and it is very expensive.

  15. Congratulations! My go to for the never ending nausea was McDonalds french fries and plain cheesburgers as well as a steady diet of Reglan or Zofran.
  16. Our christmas eve dinner is appetizers such as meatballs, chicken wings, cheese and crackers, fresh veggie tray, pickles and olives. Would something like that work?
  17. DD was born at 27 weeks and spent 2 1/2 months in the NICU. DS was born at 25 weeks and spent 6 1/2 weeks in the NICU. We learned a lot. One thing that we learned was that Dad's can do kangaroo care too. The babies loved kangaroo care with Daddy and it gave them bonding time.
  18. 2nd and 3rd grade: Notebook of Doom, Erie Elementary, Kung Pow Chicken, Haggis and Tank, Haunted Library, Monkey Me, Geronimo Stilton, Andrew Lost, Looniverse, Bunnicula are all favorites in our house. 1 year old: any of the Llama Llama books, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, Mother Bruce, Hotel Bruce, Silly Sally, Bats at the Beach
  19. Christmas eve is always appetizer bar: meatballs, chicken wings, pigs in blanket, veggie tray, cheese tray, relish tray, hot cream cheese and bacon pinwheels. Christmas day: late brunch with eggs, muffins, bacon or sausage, fruit and mimosas. Later in the day we have leftovers.
