  1. We went back today for about 50 mins and he came out saying "that was soooo much fun, but a little hard". I did not go with him today, but he said lots of memory games, reading things that did not make sense, games. I was extremely impressed with how quickly she made my son feel at ease and not nervous. He is excited to go back for the last round of testing :-)
  2. Thank you for the reminder! I do have a friend who is going to the same place and I know she is paying for "monthly" sessions. I thought that sounded reasonable, do you agree? I read that on here yesterday and I will go into the year knowing I may have to adjust my schedule for him.
  3. And I am already excited! It took all of 15 seconds and 1 test to see that DS#2 has "shut down" his left eye. He did a few more tests with him today and then we go back for an hour this Friday and another hour next week to complete the testing, followed by a consult with the Dr about his findings. This board was so helpful in getting me to this point and I am very thankful for all of you that having been willing to share your experience with this!
  4. This is how it works at our house too! School has to start first thing in the morning for our day to go well!
  5. Thank you for this! AAS is the one subject I am really nervous about this year since it is so different than any other spelling program we have done.
  6. The last 6 weeks of last school year I went back to being a participant in their school day instead of just an overseer. We listened to audio books together and then did small projects each day that went a long with what the book was about. That helped some, but I am excited to see what helps others!
  7. Before the kids, around 6:45-7. I am hoping to get everyone in a good routine this school year, but we will see!!
  8. We have 2 (one for each child) and really, we don't use them much. They are just so big and we school in our "formal" dining room and there is really no place to put them where they look nice. Instead I bought these at Target and it works much better for our space!
  9. I am so in! I spent hours in our playroom, this weekend and it is still not quite done (but almost). I wish I would have taken a picture before I started (but I probably would have been too embarrassed to actually post it here!!). Let just say you could not even see the carpet ANYWHERE in the room and every bin was overflowing with toys. My boys are playing with things they have not touched in years because they could not find all the pieces. My next task is SCHOOL BOOKS (and stuff). That has to be done in a month before our school year starts!!!
  10. Thank you! We are getting ready to start AAS and I will be picking up one of these for sure!!
  11. It has done wonders for my 8 year old! In December he was in basically the same place he had been for 4 years (reading wise) and since we have started using Dancing Bears he is doing soooo much better! He is really bad a guessing the word by the first/last letter and the cursor has helped break him of that habit!
  12. Yesterday for the first time ever my 8 year old was able to take part in the silent reading part of our school day. The Sound Out chapter books are just what he needs! I would have never know they existed if it were not for this board! He is actually EXCITED to read today:hurray: We will be taking him to be evaluated by a Dr listed on the COVD site to see if that is the issue, so I am sure I will be back posting for help when we get back those results. I can not tell you what a huge help just reading all the advice on this board has been for me and my son.
  13. I was was really excited about getting my boys their own desks...they hated them and we use the dining room table instead.
  14. I am a little confused what to do with Dictation Day by Day and hoping someone will help:blush5::blush5: What do you do with the words that are not a part of the sentence? I am looking at the 2nd year version. Thank you!
