  1. I have the Canon Rebel T3 and so far I really like it. I ordered the photography guides/books to go with it along with a second lens. The one it comes goes up to 55mm and the one I ordered goes up to 250mm. I use mine for scouting and family trips. It was a Christmas gift so I am still learning. I use mostly the auto and action function but look forward to figuring out all the other functions.
  2. Flash card user here. I have the store bought Latin and math cards but for everything else I have made up my own flash cards using business cards since they are smaller than index cards. I like them becuase there are days when we cannot get much done and it's a good day to just flip thru the cards for a review or while in the card the kids will drill each other. even my oldest gets a benifit of it while she won't tell you. I have cards for all subjects.
  3. We just finished 4 and 4 1/2. I could have skipped and gone back but I didn't have the other levels yet so we just went thru and repeated with extra worksheets and reading (we'd talk a bout some words in the stories) and he finally got the hang of it. I am sure if I had the other levels I'd still go in order because of me. I have to go in order, going out of an order drives me nuts.
  4. We drink out of them because it reminds me of my place my DH and I use to go to before kids when we lived in Florida. Forgot the name but you drinked out of the mason jars and you threw your peanut shells on the ground. I also use them because it's different from everyone else here and it goes with my country kitchen look. I use mason jars for lots of stuff, there are so many things you can use them for. I will also agree with others on the breaking. While we still do our far share of glass breakings the jars seem to last longer than the regular glasses.
  5. well poo then. i will just wait a day or two and see if they are still listed. I am looking at readers and a spelling program. This is what I get when I try to contact the buyer: and refreshing doesn't work. There appears to be an error with the database. 6. I don't have anymore time to go searching or figuring out why I cannot get thru but I was hoping to make contact with two sellers and I keep getting the promt that it didn't go thru. I didn't add enought characters or something like that to the subject? hoping tomorrow it will work. :|
  7. My daughter who is currently 7th but will still be in this book in 8th (we are really slow moving right now) enjoys it. She is reading the chapters on her own and does the experiments in front of us. She gets them all ready and shows them to us. She will say it's boring at times but she is happy I bought it for her. I have added reports on top of what she is reading. Right now she is researching scientists for a report. There is a companian CD that we have and we forget about it half the time. The CD version is just to book on CD. I have it too because we sometimes do lessons out of the house and the CD is better but I prefer the book than the electronic version.
  8. no plans to share but are looking at places with room to add when my parents finallly move in or near us. some places we have looked at have the additional in law suites. we haven't started actual house hunting but will be come 2014
  9. as much as I would love to have a full set of encyclopdieas it just isn't an option. just not sure which one to get. want something that is on the go with our laptops and don't always need internet connections. which one do you have or have used? what did you like and not like about the one you have? just looking for the pros n cons of each. thanks in advance
  10. we saw one when we lived in FL. thanks for the link i can show the kids and then show the picture of the 'blob' that was the manatee that we saw.
  11. It's similar here for us too. It's not as cold as other think since we too come from a colder climate. I make them take jackets with them and if they take them off no biggie. I am mom and parent so my call. I did have an issue when my DD was 6 and in school. It was snowing outside and she forget to take her coat with her to lunch. The teacher said she and her friend could not go get their coats and they were outside huddled against the door waiting to go in. I was not happy and let it be known. Their reasoning was they should have remembered to grabbed their coats and I was like they are 6. They still need to be reminded. Thankfully here no one has yelled at my kids but have heard the, that kid should have a coat on.
  12. From used the history from Heart of Dakota until 5th grade. Then I used SOTW 1-4 four 5th-8th. Right now my younger two are in Heart of Dakota and my oldest is using SOTW 3 and World Geography(school text) with current events. That has been our route. Not sure what 9th and up be, we are not there yet.
  13. if they had their own family farm then they couldn't do all that traveling that they do. they'd actually have to stay home.
  14. i like to change because i get tired of my old screen names. i emailed asking for my name to be changed but no one replied so i have a new account. i am sure again in a year or so i will change it up again. it's not just screen names, i change emails and arrange my homes all the times.
  15. First we do a pretest and it helps know how to schedule the next week. If she knows it she will read the lesson and go off to her room and do the work on her own. If she did poorly in an area we will work on the lesson together. I make sure we do the oral review before each lessons
  16. I am using Rod and Staff English and Spelling with my 7th grader. I almost bought another writing program but decided to use other subjects for her extra writing. Also with three children I cannot be using so many different curriculum. So for us just R&S is working. My husband is the one who reads and checks her papers and so far he's happy with what he has seen. I read them too but even I have him check my work when I have to type something up for what ever reasons. LA is her highest marks in yearly testing so I am sticking with Rod and Staff until the end.
  17. My DD is a Brownie and we did the full Blue/Brown uniform. My oldest is a Cadette with the white/khacki and I wanted them to be different. You can also wear white top with brown pants/skorts.
  18. Sadly we are not consitant in our days. I wished we were but my daughter attends middle school and their schedule days are just crazy. Some days we are there twice a week and others it's three times a week. On the days are are home for the day with no during the day activites then her work is about 4 hours, sometimes 5 if she needs help. Everything but English and Math is on her own. With these we review together, go over assignment and off she goes.
  19. My oldest didn't use it but my younger two did and I made them do it all. Then again I am one of those who just has to do everything in the books (why we take so long in anything). I think it does help out in the long run. Everyone has really good handwriting - when they want to. I have noticed better sentences too.
  20. I have the fall one but haven't used it. To be honsest I forgot I bought it. I am like that with most e- stuff I buy. I get it and then forget about it because is use all my on hand stuff.
  21. I like that. We still do the Halloween thing here since I still have younger children but this year my oldest is going around more to be with her friends than to get candy. We go to them all, don't care what they call it. We go for the candy and games.
  22. Being military we have gone thru many moves where they (movers) do the work. Since they are there morning thru evening I make sure they have food. I always have coffee and muffins and bottle water and then pizza at lunch time. I even kept a radio out when moves were stateside. The American moves the movers took our offer of drink and meals and overseas the movers declined. I swear to it by having food and being kind and keeping our distant (I still kept watch over everything)we have had little to no damage.
