  1. Our local group was told they will have a homeschool price of $145 for any Sunday- Thursday night Sept to May instead of doing the old system of a few weeks in Sept, Dec, and Feb. code is HOME
  2. That's great!! My 8 year has competed for 2 summers and the 5 year old twins will join him this summer. Such a great experience for fitness, work ethic, confidence, and great friendships for kids and parents!!
  3. I buy the earrings used for piercing, some really cute reasonable ones at Sally's beauty supply store.
  4. I would not ask. I have had parents do all sorts of interesting things in regard to birthday invites. We invited a girl from my son's preschool class and her mom responded via email "DD (his classmate) and DD 2( younger sibling, we had never met) are excited to attend."
  5. I think different doctors have different opinions on "full term". At 36 weeks most babies have adequate lung maturity regardless of singleton versus multiples. Some data shows increased likelihood of complications after 38 weeks for multiples but not all docs in the practice I went to agreed on this. I had my twins at 38 weeks and was soooooo ready to have them out!!
  6. My twins are b/g (still was asked daily for 3 years if they are identical!! One is blond, once with brown hair, but I digress) I know people who have used http://www.proactivegenetics.com/fees-for-twin-and-triplet-testing.html, which seems to be on the less expensive end of the spectrum. The folks at twinstuff.com are pretty good at determining if identical from pictures.
  7. My 5.5 twins do one page of HWOT or about 3 short sentences per day. A few times per week they will color and write a few words during geography. They will often make cards and pictures and initiate writing on their own.
  8. We are using daily science with my second grader and have been pleased with it - supplement with library books.
  9. We see Dr. Schuberth who is a partner of Dr. James Wood. We have been very pleased with the care my DS receives.
  10. Oh yes, we have that lovely issue here as well. Drives me batty. (7 year old DS, 5 year old b/g twins)
  11. I do not miss the afternoon grumpiness!! My oldest (7) went to private K & 1st and the afternoons were very difficult. Since he has been home this year, he has been much more even tempered, happier, and gets along much better with siblings (5 year old twins). I would bring them home at semester break.
  12. Hang in there!! My twins are 5 now but I still remember the babies and my organs fighting for space, babies usually win!! Hope the rest of your pregnancy is uneventful!!
  13. I get a second wind to stay awake but the energy dosen't find its way back, hence I hang out on the computer!
  14. Thanks for organizing this!! No drawer or cabinet is safe from my cleaning frenzy!!!!
  15. We are using the orange book (with Right Start games & Education Unboxed games) currently for our K twins. Everything has been going well & we are going to finish orange & could move to red before Christmas.
  16. My son was similar until we started Right Start games and games from Rosie's videos (Education Unboxed).
  17. I have 5 year old b/g twins. My DD sounds similar to yours and my DS wanted no part of anything schoolish (never wanted to color, write, play educational ipad games, etc). Now my DS has better handwriting, can color quite well (still does not ever chose this activity for fun) and is picking up math very easily. His reading/phonics skills are not as strong as his sister's. He continues to be quite the wiggle worm but is definitely absorbing information. I do math and phonics separately and will likely continue with this plan. I really think the extra time is well worth it to meet each child's needs and avoid any additional competition and comparison.
  18. We have been really happy with these, super comfortable. http://www.amazon.com/Aqua-Sphere-Goggle-Clear-Frame/dp/B001Q3LTQE/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1350180429&sr=8-5&keywords=aqua+sphere+kids+goggles
  19. My son struggled a bit but did eventually get it, I would just randomly quiz him about how many minutes til during our day. I would move on.
  20. So sorry, I have been there and is was absolutely miserable. I hope your OB is understanding and proactive. They can put in a long term IV to allow for hydration and nutrition and there are some meds to help. Hang in there!!
