  1. Thank you! Yes, I have kids that are 11, 9 and 7 so we're in the same age ranges. I have to admit that consistency isn't my strongest suit, but I'm trying to get better! I did think my kids would like the TOPS kits as they seem to be quite hands-on.
  2. That's too funny! It's exactly what I was thinking about doing (although we would do it ourselves and not with a co-op). I was wondering about the Water book - it is one of the books I don't already have and wondered if I needed to buy it through Sonlight. Great feedback! Thanks! :001_smile:
  3. Sorry, I'm pretty new to homeschooling - what do you mean when you say it's "spiral?"
  4. OK, thanks! As I'm looking at it, I'm trying to figure out how to use it. Is it mostly an online curriculum? The site is a bit hard to navigate.
  5. Do you purchase this program independently or are you doing it through a school?
  6. Oops! Can't believe I did that - we are doing Core D - American History. My kids are in 5th, 4th and 2nd. We did Apologia Astronomy which was fun but we got sidetracked mid-year and didn't finish because I had a baby :001_smile:. Just wondering if I should start Apologia Swimming Creatures or if the Sonlight Science will be enough. I'm a bit of a curriculum junkie, so I have a tendency to order too much. Thanks for your response!
  7. I am excited to start Sonlight G - American History this year with my kids, but am wondering if the Science curriculum that is included with it will be enough. Has anyone used it? Would you supplement with another Science curriculum?
  8. Thanks! Do you use other resources for health ed?
  9. In the middle of "The Lost Years" by Mary Higgins Clark.
  10. Thanks! I appreciate the feedback about getting the teacher's guide - I was thinking of just getting the workbook.
  11. Thanks! I like the idea of using a common one for all the kids - I was thinking it would be really difficult to have them all doing different books at the same time.
  12. Actually, Mathnut, quick question - who is the publisher for Spanish for Children? I googled it, and am finding a lot of different possibilities...
  13. Thanks, Mathnut! :001_smile: I will check it out!
  14. What's the worst state to be a homeschooler? Cranky and sleep-deprived.
  15. First question: How do you like to toast your marshmallows? Golden brown all the way around - crisp on the outside and melty on the inside! How was your weekend? So-so. Big kids spent all of Saturday on a college film set as extras, one had a tummy-ache and was miserable. Spent today at church and at a museum in the afternoon to get out of the heat! Is anything special happening in the month of July? My DD's 8th birthday! Yay!
  16. What a great idea! I'm stealing it...:001_smile: Thanks!
  17. Thanks! I will check it out - I am definitely looking for more of an immersion program so this looks like it may be right up my alley!
  18. The South Beach Diet Quick and Easy Cookbook is awesome - great recipes and a lot of variety. Here's one of my favorites: Thai Shrimp Soup with Lime and Cilantro Good luck!
  19. I usually have a smoothie for breakfast, but I also sometimes like to make a quiche on the weekend and then have it around to eat for the week. Yum! Also, I just found this recipe that I will be making this week for http://www.sugarfreemom.com/recipes/personal-sized-baked-oatmeal-with-individual-toppings-gluten-free-diabetic-friendly/
  20. I use Amazon Prime for everything - not only because the shipping is free but because my stuff arrives SO quickly! Also, the amount of money I save at Christmas alone is well worth the membership fee. I just send all my gifts directly to out-of-town relatives and friends - the prices are great, I can include a note (I just mail their Christmas card separately), and I'm done! Love it!
  21. Help!I have a 5th, 4th and 2nd grader and I would really like to start a foreign language this year (probably Spanish). I'm completely overwhelmed with the number of curriculum options out there. What are some of your favorites?
