  1. Thanks for both of you! I will definitely check them out. Any other suggestions?
  2. I am looking for a good book to explain the different aspects of the US economy. Not a textbook, just a book that explains it in easily understandable terms. Topics like: explaining debt, recession, value of money... Unfortunately, this would be as much for me as for my ds! Thanks in advance!
  3. Does your state have vital records online? Like birth or death records?
  4. Philadelphia. I have researched all I can on Ancestry, etc. I'm to the point where I am needing information from state/county archives. I wouldn't want to put anyone out, that is why I am looking for someone who would be looking in archives for their own family information. I would never want to put anyone out by asking them to make a special trip.
  5. Anyone from NY, Pennsylvania or Virginia that can help me get information? (Outside of using Ancestry or Archives) Thank you!
  6. Three of us took Tamiflu. My son & I ended up just fine. My husband didn't fare well however. Almost as soon as he started taking it, he started having neurological side effects. He ended up in intensive care for a week bc his body systems were out of whack. Later he was transferred to a psych unit for a week. An otherwise docile man became violent & had hallucinations. He is now fine. Thousands of dollars & many tears later, there was no diagnosis. Do yourself a favor & google tamiflu neurologic or japanese tamiflu. After what we went through, I would never ever recommend this for anyone. FWIW, my daughter didn't take the tamiflu & recovered on the same timeline as my son & I from the flu.
  7. Thank you both for the information. It was most helpful.
  8. My son just started high school and I wanted to begin preparing him for taking the SAT/ACT. I have a question on test scores. When you apply to a college or for a scholarship, are all test scores reported or just the highest? IOW, if he bombs the first time, and does better the next, are both sets of scores reported to the institution receiving them? Or can you pick a certain testing date to send? Thanks for any information you can give me.
  9. Can anyone recommend a text or course for my son in Art Appreciation? TIA!
  10. I just bought Photoshop Extended CS3 on Amazon for my daughter and it was $169. New, in box, etc. You just have to look around. The current, newest version is CS4.
  11. When the board switched to this new site, I registered and my computer immediately got a virus. I assumed that it had something to do with the site/registration. My computer completely crashed and I lost a lot of important information. Has anyone else had probs with this? Is it safe? I have stayed away b/c I have been afraid to get back on again. This time I am at dh's office computer. (Hope I don't screw up his computer) How has everyone been? I have really missed coming on here.
  12. I think that a lot of schools/people think that it implies that the student dropped out of school and then got a GED. It implies that they didn't finish, etc. (This is not necessarily my viewpoint) I don't know about your state laws, but in IL, we determine when the child is graduated and give them a diploma. Of course, there are the state requirements that the student must fulfill. I agree, I would (if possible) consider him finished and give him a diploma.
