  1. My daughter got one several years ago from "Company Store Kids". It is still in great shape, and I wash it regularly. Suzanne
  2. Thank you so much! It will get me started. Anyone else? Suzanne
  3. Hi - Does anyone have a good list of books to go along with STOW 3? I have the activity guide, but the list is so long? Thank you, Suzanne
  4. Has anyone used any of the K'NEX Simple Machine Kits? I am thinking about ordering them to use next year for science. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you, Suzanne
  5. I have used the first grade and second grade levels. I buy the teacher's manual and we go through it together. The teacher's manual includes the story, activities, character lessons, etc... The second grade level also includes quizzes. Suzanne
  6. I have used the first and second grade levels. I think you would be missing a lot without the teaching manuals. The manual contains stories, vocabulary words, activities, and the second grade manual included quizzes for each lessons. Suzanne
  7. Look at Core 2. We have used it this year and really enjoyed it. Suzanne
  8. My daughter loves science and she has totally enjoyed NOEO. We used Biology I last year and this year we are doing Chemistry I. I have added extra experiments to it because she would love an experiment every day. But, the books are wonderful and I like having a starting place. Next year, we will do Physics I. Suzanne
  9. Neosporin might help. I have used it on cracked skin on my feet and hands. I have extremely dry skin. I sometimes mix it with a good cream. The Neosporin helps kill bacteria and it doesn't hurt as bad. Suzanne
  10. Has anyone used this music program? Someone mentioned it on another board, but I would like more information. Thank you, Suzanne
  11. Crafts stores sell small plastic paint bottles. They are clear, but would work for some experiments. Suzanne
  12. Meet the Masters is used online. Each lesson focuses on a specific artists. You learn about the artist's life and some of his/her famous works. Then, you do an art project based on one of his/her works. The art projects are very directed. We use it and enjoy it. I really like the on-line lessons and so does my daughter. She enjoys the art activities, but I wish they were a little less directed. That said, she prefers the art activities in Atelier. Atelier is dvd based. We absolutely love it!! My daughter even goes back and does some of the lessons over. I like that it is designed to be used independently. I just gather the materials and do any needed prep work. Then, my daughter completes the activity. We have used Atelier for 2 years now and plan to continue.
  13. We have Atelier and Meet the Masters too. We also prefer Atelier. We really love it! Suzanne
  14. I started to match up the chapters, but my daughter wanted to read it in order. So, we are reading the book in order. It has worked fine and at times been a good review. Suzanne
  15. Thank you for the review. I ordered the books at my daughter's request. She fell in love with Song School Latin this year. But, I haven't looked over it yet. One question, will those of you that use it, use the traditional or modern Greek pronunciation? Suzanne
  16. I was going to recommend "A Reason for Spelling" too. You do need the Teacher's Guide. It describes the activities for you. I bought the Audio Cd's too, but you could get by without them. My daughter loved the stories and it gave me a break from reading. Since, we do a lot of reading, it was worth it for me. Suzanne
  17. We used Core K and loved it. My daughter is in second grade now and she still talks about some of the books we enjoyed. Suzanne
  18. My husband and his mother had severe, chronic dandruff. We tried numerous expensive products, but nothing worked for very long. He went to a dermatologist who recommended Head and Shoulders Dry Scalp Formula. Now, neither one of them have dandruff at all. Suzanne
  19. What about other home health care agencies? My grandmother was taken off of hospice recently, and my mom now receives help from Home Health Care. You might talk to doctors or social workers and see what else is available. Home health isn't as helpful as hospice, but it is still a valuable service for a caregiver. Good luck and blessings, it is difficult to have a loved one suffer from Alzheimers. I personally believe Hospice needs to reconsider how they determine which of those type patients qualify and which do not. Suzanne
  20. My mother is taking care of my grandmother and Hospice has been such a blessing. They are caring, compassionate and very helpful. My grandmother has Alzheimers. They recently had to dismiss her because she is physically healthy right now. I wish they had some provision for helping patients like her on a more long term basis. She is physically okay right now, but mentally is a whole other story. Anyway, I would highly recommend hospice. Suzannne
  21. Thank you! I'll take a look at Teaching Textbooks too. I have heard that it is too easy, but I haven't looked at it for myself. Suzanne
  22. Thank you for sharing your experience. I am hoping some others will chime in on this thread too. I'm sure I could teach the 5/4 level of Saxon. I just think having it on the computer might add a little variety to our day. My daughter loves the computer, but HATES math so I thought it might help with motivation too. We are using Horizon right now and she loathes it. I am reluctant to switch because she actually does pretty good with it. But, I think it may be time to try something new. Suzanne
  23. Hi - I am considering using Saxon Teacher next year. Has anyone used it? I would appreciate any information you might have. I am looking at the 4/5 level. Thanks, Suzanne
  24. I don't tweak it much. I have just added in a few books. I also skip some of the discussion and writing assignments. I have also added a few things from Evan Moor to it. We are only on lesson 53. We are taking it slow because we are also using other things for history. Suzanne
