  1. Monfreda is the JH Geography teacher for 2014-15. Does that ring a bell? Please let me know! Thanks!
  2. Can you private message me or tell me why JH Geography was terrible and who taught it? I have my son signed up for it next year, along with four other TPS classes. Fro the most part, we have had a very good experience with TPS the last few years. Thank you so much for your insight!
  3. I heard Mrs. Howard give a presentation yesterday for TPS on early church literary history and I was very impressed. If my kiddos were taking spanish, I'd go with her in a heartbeat just based on her engaging presentation skills.
  4. Mrs. Leake is a wonderful teacher. She was teaching from Wheelock when my boys took Latin from her at TPS, but switched to LNM the following year.
  5. Mrs. Leake teaches Latin now, and she's good too. But she no longer uses Wheelock, if that matters to you. My boys have Mr. Spotts for Greek currently and he is very good. My middle is signed up for English II with Miss Shearon next year. So glad to hear she is highly recommended! I also have him signed up for Geography with Mr. Monfreda. Someone on these forums said JH Geography was awful. If someone could speak to that I would be so grateful. Mrs. Nelson is a wonderful math teacher. Both my boys loved her! Mr. Crosby, history teacher, was also a big hit. JH logic and apologetics was less so. Traditional Logic at Memoria Press with Mr. Piland was better, though he may be just doing admin anymore. Unless you really prefer modern logic, which TPS uses (Nance)
  6. I used the first two EG texts with my boys when they were younger (2nd, 3rd, 4th grade.) Alas, when we got to year three, we discovered the brand new textbook we had purchased was missing the first 24 pages. I wrote to the company, but never received a response. In the meantime, we discovered First Form Greek through Memoria Press, which both boys took this year (grades 5 and 8.) We were happy with the class, which is advertised as being worth one high school credit. The only drawback is that MP does NOT offer year two of Greek. I recently discovered that The Potter's School offers three years of Greek, and the teacher uses Machen. It is even more aggressive than Memoria Press, so I wish I had discovered them sooner. He makes it almost all the way through Machen in one year. I'd have the boys take this class in a heartbeat if it was offered at a reasonable time for west coast time zones. For some reason when I suggested a 4am class an insurrection ensued. If anyone knows of an online seminary or college course using Machen, I'm looking :)
  7. Oldest son (now 14) has taken Logic I, II, and Material Logic online. Both boys are enrolled in First Form Greek, oldest is in Classics II, and younger in Classics I. By and large, the instructors do a really good job at engaging the class and holding the kids accountable. The lessons are rigorous but well planned. We love Memoria Press!
