  1. This is what we done. My boys enjoyed it and we added Abeka and some additional supplemental information. They done well with it! I made up lab sheet and they completed a lab sheet after each lab and compiled a lab manual also.
  2. I am considering purchasing Spanish Now 1, but need some additional info. I know the text/workbook comes with 4 cd's. But, is there a teaching guide or test materials? BTW, has anyone used this and how do you feel about it? It is for my 7th grader who has had NO spanish in the past.
  3. I bought an epson 645 for $79 on sale at Office Max for personal reasons (we own rental property and need copies fairly often). I Have spend another $60 on ink, but have been using that ink for almost 2 years. And I copy stuff EVERY day. I LOVE it!! This is our first year hs'ing, and I knew that we would have a couple of years of "adjustment". Having instant access to coping just makes my life easier :D
  4. I have looked into, and am very interested in, the Biology 101 series. What does everyone think of this?? What are the pros? cons?
  5. This is our first year of HSing and I went with Apologia Biology because of the rave reviews. My poor DS HATES it!! read, read, read, answer 2 questions, read, read, read, again! This style of istruction is not beneficial to him. He doesnt have real good reading comprehension, and quickly looses interest. Is there anything else that is, perhaps, more visual? more interactive? more exciting? Or, do we need to just give it more time? We are only on cp 2. ;)
  6. If your kiddos are middle to high shcool age, and like animals, Character Sketches, is wonderful. It takes a trait (ex. responsibility, flexibilty, etc, ) and coordinates an animal and an example from the BIBLE. We LOVE them!! http://store.iblp.org/products/C123/ The books are large, leather-bound volumns, and although they can be expensive if bought new......I found them on ebay for basically shipping costs!!!;)
  7. As a first year homeschooler, we have completed 4 half days, with today being our first full day. I have a 7th grader and a 9th grader. It went as planned........I taught, they fussed. :D They share some subjects, but have independant work in others. But, at one time.....during geography, my 9th grader said "this is fun". ;) Hoping they get used to homeschooling......they are not going back to ps!!:)
  8. We've been married 25 years and this is EXACTLY how I do it. Winter and summer!! I never use the drier, unless it is an emergency!! Always hang "bottoms" (shorts, pants, undies) by the top and 'tops" by the bottom. :D
  9. Well, if you happen to find it, would you care to post the site, it might be something I could use too!!?? :D
  10. I went looking for these for my VERY RELUCTANT readers thinking that if I could find some, I would buy them to spark their non-existant reading interest. MUCH to my suprise, I found many of them as on-line reading....free. Many of you may already know of this site, but some may not. I hope its helpful! http://www.tkinter.smig.net/ClassicsIllustrated/index.htm
  11. Is this it? I saved this for us to us this year. Hope it helps! http://www.currclick.com/download_preview.php?pid=29643
  12. I know my DS 14 can write better than this. But, this is want was acceptable in his ps class. This sample was done in late Feb. It is a free writing assignment of 4 minutes with the given topic "I think the legal driving age should be....." DS14 response just as he wrote it: " I think the leigal driving age should be lower, to the age 13 because some people Can drive at that age and some cant and I wanna drive Places and I allready have a vehical and I wanna drive and not have to listen to my mom wying about how loud the music is or how Fast Im going." WHERE am I supposed to start?? Spelling? Grammar? Mechanics? Wow....just wow  This will be our first year of hs'ing and I will also have an upcoming 7th grader who cannot do any better. :bigear:
  13. I have seen many studys on/for young women. I am looking for something similiar to currclicks http://www.currclick.com/product/72707/Proverbs-Chapter-Thirty-One-Lapbook Proverbs 31 lapbook study. But, I need or would like, something geared toward young men. You know...how to grow into a biblical man. It could be a lapbook format, or a biblical study, or even a character study. I just want something geared toward raising young men in a biblical manner. Is there any such thing out there?? Ideas are appreciated!! ETA: My boys are 12 and 14
