  1. There's Malibu Cove High School. I have two daughters enrolled and one going in next year. I know they use Prentice Hall for some subjects and the rest of the textbooks are secular as well.
  2. lol it's fun to read everyone's experiences! I guess I'm lucky cuz my dd pretty much enjoys all of her schooling. She's always been a quick learner and likes to finish everything that she starts. Right now we're using the Seascape Private school 8th grade program and she really likes it. She requested specific subjects when we enrolled and they sent everything we wanted so it worked out perfectly. We plan to use their high school program next year and hopefully, she'll keep the momentum throughout the next fours years and into college! :001_smile:
  3. I've always given them 8 weeks. Not for any particular reason, it just ends up that way every year! lol But I think it's just about right.
  4. I used Spanish with my daughter when she was 7. Although I liked it, she unfortunately, didn't. I think it was really just because she was too small still. I tried it again with my other daughter when she was 11 and she thoroughly enjoyed it!
  5. I like the structure of a full boxed curriculum but only if it includes extras like teacher grading, progress reports and stuff like that so I can focus on just teaching my kids and trying to make it as fun as possible. I've done both the "boxed" curriculum and putting together everything on my own but I ended up preferring what I'm using now which is the Seascape Private School program. Im not sure if it would be considered a boxed curriculum since they use a variety of different publishers in each curriculum program and they tailor it to my kids levels and interests. When I started with them they sent me all the textbooks and workbooks, a schedule that I could base my day on and there was teacher help in case I needed it. When I received the programs I knew right off the bat that two of the textbooks were not going to work because the levels were off so I contacted the school and they promptly exchanged them for different levels and even changed the publisher to one they believed would work better for us. It worked out great and I've been really happy with them ever since. They give credits for our field trips and my kids really enjoy sending in their work for someone other than just me to see. They also love getting their progress reports after all their hard work. :001_smile:
  6. There's also Seascape Private School. They offer teacher services and work can be emailed, faxed or mailed in. :)
  7. Wow! Awesome thread! I love taking a peek at what everyone is using and getting ideas for supplemental stuff while I'm at it. As for me, I have two highschoolers re-enrolling in Malibu Cove High School's homeschooling program. My oldest will be graduating...can't believe how fast time goes by!! And I have two younger ones that I'm using the Seascape Private School curriculum with. We've used it before and love that it's tailored to my kids academic levels. I'm looking for a great art program to add on. Hoping to see suggestions here! :)
  8. Seascape Private School - All inclusive, they send a complete curriculum and daily schedule, plus teacher help. They use a lot of different publishers since they tailor each program to each student but I love what they've chosen for us and for my friend's son (who's also homeschooling with Seascape) too!:001_smile:
  9. My daughter's are currently enrolled in Malibu Cove High School and we're very happy with their curriculum and services. My younger daughter was struggling so much in public school so we pulled her out and after we started homeschooling her she became so much more self confident and her grades went up from D's to A's and B's! They are accredited and in fact, my older one has already begun applying at colleges and we've had no problems whatsoever with transcript acceptance.
  10. I just finished reading The Burning of Grey on my Kindle. Really loved it! It was suspenseful and fun to read. Really kept my interest through the whole thing. I would say it was totally worth the 4 bucks! :)
