  1. My dh experience was there was the person he works with , worked for an audiologist. Costco says some locations have audiologists, but not all. whike having nothing to compare it to, he is very happy with the service he has received from them.
  2. Dh got all that help at Costco and continues 2 years later to get them tweaked as needed. No charge . Audiologist at Costco appointments free with the purchase of hearing aids. .
  3. It would look beautiful. I agree the hearth is quite deep, but having had a few “sparks” fly out from our wood fireplace, I understand why. It is also extra seating when the fire is not lit.
  4. Dh has hearing aids from Costco. We didn’t check anywhere else, just went there, because they were recommended by so many people. Customer service is amazing. Whatever he needs to have checked, tweaked, repaired, etc, it’s free. I think his were under $2,000. He is quite happy with them. They are Bluetooth, and he can control them from his cell phone. He can listen to the Tv and he takes phone calls with them. Even if you don’t have a Costco membership, and she will need her own, she will save so much more using them there.
  5. We never had it actually happen but our neighbors had a tree that continually dropped limbs so we checked with our insurance. If their tree fell on cars in our driveway or our garage, our insurance would have to pay. However the insurance company would be contacting our neighbors insurance to seek some payment from them as well.
  6. Someplace between 1955 and 1975 fitted sheets were invented. I remember making beds and my mom called it a hospital corner. (She was neither a nurse or military, it’s just what they were called) I was happy to ditch that skill when elastic sheets were invented. However, I still put my top sheets on with that word stuck in my head..
  7. Mine were not terribly picky. except they didn’t like most fruits. Especially my boys…they ate most veggies, didn’t like salad, but fruit was a no go. My girls hated peas…one still does.
  8. I got married in 1975. My Mil gave me 2 flat sheets and several hand embroidered pillow case sets. She was an RN and “hospital corners” which is what a flat sheet needs to fit the bed, were part of her life. Elastic fitted bottom sheets were in use, altho I did know what a hospital corner was. I needed sheets so,I purchased printed fitted sheets to match the pillow cases. I agree todays mattresses are probably too thick to accommodate a “hospital corner” flat sheet.
  9. Hmmm I don’t think I could eat oysters, don’t like the texture at all but l might get some sardines. Beef is off my list for a while and I can’t have lettuce, but a burger sure sounds good! ( we don’t have an In and out burger here. 🥲
  10. All of those foods are tolerable and currently in rotation. Thank you, thus confirms what I am doing today.
  11. In the past 8 weeks I have had a Gi bleed, then largish precancerous polyp removed and this past week a 2nd bigger GI bleed. The polyp surgery site developed an ulcer. I am on blood thinners for chronic pulmonary embolisms and the thought is that the Wayfarin was causing the bleeds. I am starting Eliquis today. I am home now and need to heal my gut as well as raise hemoglobin. After a low of 8.1, it was 8.7 yesterday on discharge. Suggestions for soft, non gassy, foods to help me heal and get stronger. It’s been a rough couple months, my sister passed from colon cancer a week before my 1st GI Bleed and I am kind of spent mentally and physically. ETA , I know the basics, potatoes , eggs etc. I am Looking for food I don’t normally think of. My Dr told me to eat Kiwi fruit. I am putting sweet potatoes ( we eat them often, just out of currently) and beets on my list. Fruit and veggies I can eat currently are very few and I’m tired of green beans and cooked carrots. It will be better in a couple weeks and I can start adding back in salads, hemp hearts etc…
  12. Have you thought about getting g audible books from the library and packing a set of Bluetooth earbuds in your purse?
  13. Catherine’s, woman within, Roamsns all on the same website now. found this one https://www.catherines.com/products/long-tricot-knit-nightgown-/1010398.html?dwvar_1010398_color=4477863#cgid=null
  14. We found a very reputable but small moving company to move us several years ago. 3 guys, one larger trailer. They did not charge by weight. They were cheaper than any bigger name company…we shopped around. My DH packed every box himself, except kitchen, which I had help to accomplish. movers just moved the boxes. They were terrific. note: movers will not take liquids. Cleaning supplies, gas cans, etc. We either gave it away, or took in our 2vehicles.
  15. Dh and I are struggling with that this winter. Tea , honey and lemon help. You can add cinnamon and tumeric. We are doing Ricola lozenges when we are out of the house, church etc. it really stops cough for short periods of time.
  16. I remember it being an airport in Canada, and she was eating Poutine while reading the forums.
  17. Amway Prewash spray has been in my laundry room for over 30 years. I swear by it and yes it takes out stains that have gone thru the dryer,
  18. I started doing no seeds, on Saturday. Two days of low fiber and then 1 day of clear liquids.. Hubby is out and about and will get some canned something..canned veggies is not our norm! I found some squash ravioli pasta in the freezer that I will make tonight.. . I have applesauce, saving it for snack if I need it. Fish, mashed potatoes and mashed carrots tomorrow night is my menu. Was going for something different tonight. I had a colonoscopy (GI bleed) a month ago. That’s when they found the polyps, but they didn’t want to remove them at that time as to confuse the bleeding issue. This split prep is obnoxious. 5 years ago I did the Miralax, gaterade prep and it was intense, but not a big deal. No food restrictions prior to the day of the prep. I was told come back in 10 years, but my baby sister passed in January from colon cancer. I am thankful the GI bleed happened and the polyps were found. Now I just want them gone.
  19. Thanks. That’s my thought ,but I was seeing conflicting info. I am feeling nauseated from white bread turkey sandwich for lunch. ( too much coffee as well) I don’t eat this way normally! Trying to figure out a side for pasta…
  20. Colonoscopy on Thursday. Today is 1 of 2 of low fiber diet. I am thinking pasta for supper tonight…can I add a spring mix ceasar I am having polyps removed, I can’t mess this up.
  21. I would call The Corner Record Shop in Grandville. I don’t think they buy or sell comic books, etc, but maybe they can point you in the right direction.
  22. While I believe you can do this, I do believe there will be consequences as Medicare/Medicaid does a 5 year look back. I am surprised anyone is suggesting you do a loan. Please get another opinion..
  23. Having finished 2 8x8 albums for our youngest granddaughter , I am working on another photo album. 2016 we had our “family” photographer spend an afternoon with our whole big family. He had done 2 of our kids weddings, and several family photo shoots for us, so we were all very comfortable just hanging out with him. The plan was to just play with the grands kids the way we just hang out and goof off. We have moved so this album is now loaded with memories . Highlights are the “grandpa built” sandbox, , grandpas pedal cart he gave them all rides around the neighborhood, hanging out in the apple tree they all loved to climb, and blowing giant bubbles. At that time we had 12 grands, ages 13 to 6 weeks. It was a joyful fun day. We have one last granddaughter who arrived several years later, but she was there for a few years before we all moved and I am including a photo of her with grandpa by the firepit. It did rain, so the fire pit didn’t happen that day. But we tried to catch all the things the grands all love about that back yard.
  24. I received plain white corelle for a wedding gift, 48 years ago. I thought the green blue etc were ugly too. I have replaced my original white with the scalloped edge white. I add color to my table with serving dishes and cloth napkins. For kids, get the corelle. It works great,
  25. If I am microwaving a plate, I slide it onto a pad as I am removing it. I usually put a bowl on top of a plate when heating. The plate doesn’t get hot around the edges as no food is touching there.
