  1. I have been every year for the last 4 years, but not sure if I am going yet this year. If I do, it will be on Saturday to the vendor hall only.
  2. We did Counting first. Started Number Theory not long ago and it seems easier to me.
  3. Writing with Skill seems to be helping my struggling writer. She is in 9th and using the second level this year.
  4. I got only the Teacher's Edition since we are doing it together and mostly orally. I think there are some answers filled in, but I will just cover them or not let DD see those parts.
  5. There are sample schedules at classicalacademicpress.com. We are going to do Art of Argument for 9th this year. It will be a half credit, but we will stretch it out over the entire year. We will probably do it once or twice a week, depending on how many days we are schooling that week, for 30-45 minutes each day.
  6. There is more depth in the 7th grade book for certain topics, but I would say you would be fine to skip it. Just make sure you thoroughly cover the 8th grade book grammar.
  7. This book looks pretty good. I don't have it, but it got pretty good reviews.
  8. Have you seen The American Odyssey? It is what we will be using in 10th when we get there.
  9. We also read the hardback illustrated versions of Black Ships Before Troy and The Wanderings of Odysseus by Rosemary Sutcliff. They were great!
  10. I had both, but we chose to read The Trojan War by Coolidge and really enjoyed it. Never read the other one, so I can't comment on that, but I remember liking the Coolidge one.
  11. My DD has made progress at sounding out words (and not just guessing or making something up) using the REWARDS program, followed by all 8 Megawords books.
  12. We like the USA Gold here too. I get them at Target. They work great, sharpen great, made in the USA, and no microban. I gave away all of our other pencils.
  13. I saw that. I thought I would look at the one online first, and then see if I wanted to buy a hard copy. It looks pretty cool.
  14. We were going to do it this year too, but now I am rethinking. I already have it though, so I may just go ahead and try it.
  15. I have this bookmarked, but haven't really looked through it, so not sure if it is at the level you want: https://bookofbadarguments.com/?view=flipbook I also have these two books, but again, I haven't really looked through them. Just throwing them out in case they help. http://www.amazon.com/Harry-Stottlemeiers-Discovery-Matthew-Lipman/dp/0916834069 http://www.amazon.com/Logic-Rescue-Kris-Langman-ebook/dp/B001QTXLQ4/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1405605788&sr=1-1&keywords=Logic+to+the+rescue

  17. Here is my middle school history booklist if that helps you: https://www.dropbox.com/s/q6981hia2gsbyrt/Middle%20School%20History%20Booklist.pdf
  18. It does have synonyms for some entries, but no it is not really a thesaurus. I still really like it though. I had looked at a lot of dictionaries and actually considered the other one recommended above, but chose to go with this one. HTH!
  19. We are going to be using these books from K12: World History: Our Human Story and The American Odyssey I got the World History used for about $9 (still in decent shape) and the American one for $16 but it looks brand new.
  20. We love this dictionary: http://www.amazon.com/Websters-New-World-Students-Dictionary/dp/0028613198 And this is our thesaurus: http://www.christianbook.com/websters-new-world-rogets-z-thesaurus/9780028631226/pd/631226 The thesaurus has been fine, but I really like that dictionary!
  21. We are going to be using K12 American Odyssey for American History, but probably not until 10th. My rising 9th grader will be starting Medieval with a combo of K12 books (Human Odyssey and Our Human Story) for 9th. If you want to do Early Modern or Modern for 9th, I would use K12 Human Odyssey volumes 2 & 3 or parts of Our Human Story. Or just go straight into American History for 9th if you want (again, I like K12 American Odyssey).
  22. It isn't out yet, but I think it should be by the fall??? Someone else may know exactly when. ETA: Looks like August.
