ever heard of this: Vitamin Code
thefragile7393 replied to kfeusse's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I have...they are from the same company that does Garden of Life. Rather expensive...seem to be good. I have used GOL's green powder and Vitamin Code Vitamin C in the past and liked it. Vitacost is the cheapest place I've found for any of their stuff. -
Analgesia/anesthesia and birthing preferences

1st wonderful waterbirth but he was face up...which we didn't know until he came out. The back pain was horrible and I finally asked for sterile water injections which really really dulled the back pain so I could focus on the front pain. 2nd was a homebirth and everything went well with that....no back pain this time but my thighs really hurt....I wish I had an epidural for my thighs at that point oddly. It hurt but...it is the way to go for me unless there is a real emergency...which is why I will always utilize midwives -

NOEO....almost everything is included in the kits except very common household stuff or stuff that is easy to find. All books all lessons are right there and you can do 2 days for lessons or two days or however long you wish. -
New TLC show that doesn't horrify me!

I remember reading about them! This does look very interesting. Not everything from TLC is garbage but there is some stuff that makes me go :glare: -
Be honest-does this make me a snob?

:iagree: I couldn't have said it better. -
I went under...and I am glad I did, because mine were impacted...all of them. Since mine were impacted this will make a difference in our experiences as well. I had mine done two at a time. Both times I swelled up....I looked like I had a tumor in my jaw. The first day I was in pain that was controlled decently with percocet, though I had to constantly change the gauze in the extraction areas for a few hours. I had to use ice packs or frozen veggies frequently. The following days the pain was dealable. I had them done on my days off and I went to work as normal. The second time for the other two was worse....I didn't swell quite as badly (still had the tumor look) but my face was bruised! I looked like I had been in a fight! I needed many ice packs and percocets for the first night....that was honestly awful. Both times it took a week for the swelling to go down.

Another s/o - if you DON'T vaccinate...
thefragile7393 replied to StaceyinLA's topic in General Education Discussion Board
You do realize that that whooping cough (lately) has been mainly in VAXED kids right? That the shot does not prevent transmission or infection, just a milder case? blaming those who don't vax is pretty ridiculous when you actually look at numbers and who is getting what. www.insidevaccines.info has studies taken straight from PubMed. I'd link directly but unfortunately where I am the overly sensitive blocker has it, well, blocked. The unvaxed I know all take care of their kids when they are sick and if a vaccine available disease they keep them away from everyone. Actually, even those with vax'ed kids do the same. Blaming the unvaxed only for sickness is very unreasonable, considering ANYONE, vaxed or not can catch a disease and spread it-and it DOES happen-and no one should be lulled into a sense of security simply because they have a shot. My kids are no more of a threat because they have no shots-I keep them away from everyone anytime they are sick and kept them and myself away from others when they had a vaccine available disease. -
Science for busy boys ages 6 & 4?
thefragile7393 replied to Esperella's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
NOEO. No really. I have Chemistry 1 and I am starting this with my son and he is loving it! I love that the experiments and all the books come in the kit. The instructors book has all the lessons and there are notebooking pages. There are pages where you can record the results of experiments, pages for drawing or definitions of terms. I don't think it is busy work at all, but it is a mix of CM/WTM, and I lean towards relaxed CM. It's open and go, lots of experiments, lots of cool books. I think your kids may like it. There is also Real Science Odyssey. It's similar to NOEO but, IMO, more rigorous. In Level One Biology there are TONS of experiments, animal observation, etc. I think there is more writing, but of course at this age it would be more narration/dictation anyway so it can be worked around. Nancy Larson is another great one, meaty, with kits included. -

Even if you choose to you should also have a plan. -

No. Why would it? It isn't a deadly disease in a healthy person, provided proper care is taken. Keep the child away from all people, watch who you are around yourself as much as possible and take very good care to avoid immunocompromised ones. Take care of it. It's no different then many other illnesses but because there is a vaccine we are trained to freak out when outbreaks happen....which will continue to happen because the vaccine does not prevent transmission or infection anyway. Insidevaccines.info has the link to the CDC study that discovered this...sorry I am not at home to link it myself. What scares me is that doctors rely so much on vaccines that they have no clue how to properly treat these illnesses. -
The song has helped my son a lot. Using it with gestures or other manipulatives has helped him be able to get the idea. Still needs a lot of practice.

NBC Olympics coverage rant!

Yeah this has long gone on for many many years, none of them are pure metals. They would be pretty expensive to make if they were. -
Not directed towards me but I would be interested. I was with the yahoo group for this but then they got on some weird tangent in a different book....Savior of the World or something. So I would be greatly interested in joining too!

I am in the minority but I don't see anything wrong. 18 year olds weren't the best babysitters. If he is in speech therapy perhaps he has other issues going on as well that make it hard to sit still. At 32 I have a problem sitting still for long periods of time. Engage the little guy maybe? Not a bad idea, but it didn't occur to you at the time. I don't see anything wrong and I'm not one to speak up either to every little thing. It does not sound like you "Bawled out" anyone but I wasn't there. Was it a big deal? In the long run maybe not. Maybe it was a mistake. I've had snappy moments with strangers as well
