  1. I have been reading both books (and several others :tongue_smilie: ) ... just googled these two together to see if anyone had already discussed the comparison. I'm attempting to match the best parts of both and come up with an approach that suits us. Would love to know how you've gone with it, Heart_Mom, and anything you've learned in the process of trying. TIA.
  2. It sounds like you're already doing a great job. I think programs may bog you down too much and perhaps be discouraging. Your daughter wants to write, so ... I would also suggest Brave Writer. It treats students like would-be writers. You can buy The Writer's Jungle at Homeschool Buyers Coop for a 50% discount. I haven't finished reading it, but think it will help you know the stages your child will go through, and how to support her. There's a story in there (or online, I read too much so can't be sure where I saw it) of a mother saying her struggling older child went through all the phases in less than a year, went from being virtually a non writer to a confident writer. If you wish to you can then contact the author Julie Bogart and ask her advice about other resources you may like to use. Hope that helps! Would love to hear what works for you.
  3. We just read them to the children now and then, generally 1/4 to 1/2 the book at a time. The kids love them, and we find them great for prompting deep and meaningful discussion. So for me, they are a cross between an excellent picture book and an informal scripture & virtue resource. We bought them when the children were 3 or 4, and at age 7 they still enjoy them.
  4. I haven't used it but this page seems to show that it's from 6000BC. http://www.pandiapress.com/?page_id=58
  5. I'm looking for the same. It seems most/ all Christian home ed history resources are based on a young earth creation world view. Have you found anything?
  6. If you're in Australia like us (wanting metric) ... my son (7) loves the Targeting Maths cd roms (from Pascal Press) which reinforce computation and maths vocab through fun games ... we use Lab 3 to supplement Singapore 2A and 2B (thinking he'll start 3A and 3B in about June). I'd suggest Lab 3 and 4 for you. Costs about $19.95 plus postage from Pascal Press, for each level for a home use version.
