  1. Absolutely! Even as he gets older and my girls become more independent with their school work, it might be possible to have all 3 home. Thank you everyone for helping me feel better. I was having a down night when I posted this last night. But now I feel better reading all your responses.
  2. I'll have to check that out. I didn't know they had one.
  3. I guess I was just feeling like homeschooling a special needs child wasn't a option, but maybe it's worth looking at when the time comes.
  4. I had always planned on homeschooling my kids and I am currently homeschooling my two daughters. Then along came my son that was born with down syndrome and I was great broken. I have a few more years then his therapy will be through the public school system which breaks my heart. I can't imagine sending him to public, but at the same time, I don't know how one would home school a special needs child. Especially since his therapy would be done through them. I feel so sad that I can't keep him home with me. I just want to keep him safe from those who don't know how to accept him for the sweet little boy he is. Anyone else in the same situation with a special needs child and can sympathize with me?
  5. Specifically for the k-3 grade age. We've loved reading eggs and abcmouse in the past, but we won't have internet after this weekend. And recommendations for games that teach that don't require internet to play?
  6. Reading- Read 30 min to mom in the morning and 30 minutes by herself in the afternoon. Writing- WWE, FLL1, & Pentime 2 Math- Saxon 3 Spelling- Natural speller word lists used with spelling city Science- Earth and space this year with Bill nye videos and lots of correlating books. misc- Five in a row volume 2, Mavis beacon typing, and Timez attack That's the current plan, though I keep changing it weekly. So we'll see what is ends up being by August.
  7. My daughter is just starting to learn her multiplication facts. I have bought some games to help make learning them fun and once she learns them the games will help with continual practice. We have tri-fact-a multiplication Speed Math war (with multiplication facts) And I just bought times tales (DVD) that uses stories to teach the upper times tables. We should have a fun summer full of games. I think continual practice is the key and making it fun.
  8. We have a back yard party, usually with sprinklers to run through and we make ice cream.
  9. The natural speller book has words broke down by rules. That might help.

  12. Ok, I went out to my garage and found I had the other books. It looks like i have 3 books for each level. Cool.
  13. So why do you like the older editions better? Just curious
  14. Interesting. Do I need to buy anything to go asking with the hard bound book? It looks like the paper back ones have a total of three books. I know one is math practice and the other is tests. (I think)
  15. I bought a whole lot of saxon books over last summer. The earlier grades are definately he homeschool version, the upper, I'm not so sure. This is what my books look like. What is the difference between the ones I have (picture above) and these (picture below? Should I get rid of the hard cover ones and get the paper back, and most likely homeschool ones?
  16. I only have saxon books through 3 so I was wondering those that use saxon, it at some point do they teach 11 & 12 multiplication facts
  17. We're going to Disneyworld at the beginning of next school year too. I'm so excited. Definately would make for a great start to the year.
  18. What was your favorite homeschool year and why? What made it the best?
