We've loved RSO science. We've used 3 of there books. However, the samples of pbysics looks dry. I could be wrong. (Anyone tried it?) So my searches is on. This would be for 3rd and 5th grade. Looking for (if it exists): -low prep. (I'm tired of digging up supplies) -Comes with all supplies (except perishables and kitchen tools) -easy to get done -Not dry or boring textbook like. -manageable amount of experiments (that work) or could be done independent with supplies set out. -dare I say fun? -maybe lessons on the computer? I feel burnt out right now and don't feel a lot of enthusiasms for science. Which should be one of the funnest hands on parts of school. my daughters really love science and ask for more hands on experiments. I think i need to try something new to renew my passion to teach it. Ideas?

Anyone used supercharged science and felt it was worth the money?

We've used Real science odyssey for life, earth and space, and are 3/4 way through chemistry. Its been a nice open and go curriculum. I bought the supply box to i didn't have to hunt down supplies. What hasn't been in the box has been perishable items like celery and marshmallows. I'm planning on using their physics next year, but i still like to see whats out there. We've really enjoyed RSO.

What has been your favorite science curriculum? Why is it your favorite? Which ones have tried from that publisher? (Etc. Biology, chemistry)

I think CLE looks like a good option for my daughter. I tested her and she got 76 on the 300 placement test. It says that she should start at 400. Depending on what 401 looks like, I'll do the 401 as a good review. Then proceed through the rest of the book. I hope Rio regain her confidence. And hopefully she'll be able to do some of this independent because she loves being able to work independently. I think this will be a nice curriculum for her. She loves math and i want to keep it that way. I plan on ordering it today.

That's a good suggestion. Thanks! I actually did write out her problems for her for a couple of months. It'd be nice to have a workbook so i didn't have to spent so much prep time rewriting out her lessons though.

We have been using saxon from k though the middle of 54. I think we've got a road block. All of this year has been a struggle. My daughter loves the constant review she gets fromm saxon, but something is not clicking. I think what it's holding her back is: The length of the lessons. The rewriting of problems onto paper. And i think the lessons are too wordy. I hear CLE is similar to saxon and the examples of CLE look really good. The lessons look cleaner and clearer. The review look great. I love that you write in the book. (I think most of the problem my daughter is having is just transcribing the problems wrong. Writing isn't her sttength). For those of you who have used it and kept with it, what can you tell me about the pros and cons for you? Also included what grades you've used. Thank you so much!

So I have a 4th grader this next year and we are going to do Chemistry. My daughter loves memorizing things so I thought I'd let her work on memorizing the periodic table as well as the element abbreviations. I remember in Jr. high learning the element abbreviations a fun way. For example, AU come back with my gold. I have googled till I'm blue in the face but can't find anything fun out there like this. Does anyone know where I can find something fun like this? I thought it would be fun to use this video to memorize the actual periodic table (http://www.memorizeperiodictable.com/) We will be using R.E.A.L science odyssey chemistry. I'd like to add to this with other science experiments and games. What fun resources have to used for chemistry?

Do anyone use it? There doesn't seem to be any examples online of this and I am wondering what the pages are like? Is there addition, subtraction, multiplication and division?

We did the REAL Science Odyssey life science this year and we really have enjoyed it.
