  1. Baby #4 is due mid October.....so 19 weeks along. No idea whether boy or girl. We have 2 boys and 1 girl so dd and I are cheering for a girl to even things out a bit!!! We shall see!
  2. This has been a hit at my house this year with my 2nd grade dd. We chose to do the Life of Jesus. One day we read the story out of the Bible and another day we read it out of a children's bible and we review on the third day. She loves being able to draw a picture to go with the story. It's working here and rather inexpensive! Here is the link: Bible Scribe
  3. Another good friend of mine just mentioned BJU also. I think I'll look into it. My ds "tolerates" the notebooking in co-op but it is certainly not his favorite thing. I was looking at the NOEO Science but if it's more notebooking than I don't think it will be for him.
  4. We've done Apologia Elementary Zoo 1 and 2 for the last two years. Our co-op is moving on to Zoo3 in the fall. I'm just feeling like my 6th grader needs a little something more. I mean we've done birds and we're loving the sea creature book but next would be land animals. I think I'm ready for him to do something besides Zoology. What are you all planning for 6th grade science? Or what have you done and really liked? Thanks!
  5. Happy Happy Birthday to you!!!!!!!!! Hope you are having a great day!:party:
  6. Since I haven't participated in a while I thought I'd share a family pic: Prevailing Purpose
  7. We use R & S for English (5th grade) and I outsource the writing to Home2teach. My son has taken several courses and I'm very pleased with the classes and the progress he is making in writing! With my dd (2nd grade)--my plan is to continue to use FLL and use SWB's new writing program until she is ready for the online classes at home2teach. Great thread!
  8. I finally had a chance to read everyone's responses. You ladies are so encouraging!!! Dh and I have been talking a lot about this and I believe at this point we're going to stay on the waiting list at our local ps for a spot (this is where he already gets speech) but decline VPK at a daycare center just to get more socialization. He does get a lot of socialization between our friends, neighborhood play, church, etc. The more I think about it he gets a lot of language exposure. He shares a room with my 11 yo ds who is constantly listening to good books like "The Hobbit" and Chronicles of Narnia on CD. He also attends co-op with my older children and 1 hour is a Pre-K class taught by one our mom's who has a background teaching special education. Our "gut" tells us to keep him it at home for VPK and just continue our speech services twice a week at the local ps. If a spot comes open at the school where he is receiving services than we will consider it. He has come so far already....from 2 word sentences to full sentences. His problem is more people understanding him. I'm going to look into some of those resources that were recommended!! Thanks again everyone!
  9. My youngest ds (4) receives speech therapy twice a week through our local school district. He has made a lot of improvement this year since this started. His speech therapist really wants me to put him into a Voluntary Pre-K class next year. She feels that putting him in a classroom environment will force his speech to improve because he will have to communicate with so many people in that environment. At first I understood her point of view but I'm not sure I want him to go to school for 3 hours a day next year. Currently there are no spots available at that school so my only option would be a local daycare that offers the VPK and then taking him back to the school for speech. I want to do what is best for him and I certainly want to see his speech improve (it's already improved a lot) but is it critical that he be in a "school classroom" setting to do this? I have 2 other kids at home and baby #4 due in October--- and frankly I don't want to be running my 4 yr old to school each day---nor do I want him away from home that much! He is only 4!! His speech therapist just keeps telling me how "critical" it is to his treatment that he be in school!! So some of you moms with speech kids help me through this!! Please!! Is it really important for him to go to a classroom each day?
  10. I am in the same shoes as you!! I have an 8 y/o DD who also has "stinky armpits" already and she does bathe every night. I know I need to start deodorant with her soon. Can you tell me where you got a "natural deodorant" at and what brand? Thanks!
  11. Hope you are having a great day!! Sending many Happy Birthday wishes your way!!:party:
  12. But would like to understand it also. I had the same thought.....why hold it early?? And if they did it intentionally then now why backtrack on the decision?:confused::confused:
  13. My heart goes out to you today and your family. I'm praying for you all!
