  1. Thanks. I love the 🌺. I am enjoying catching up on the boards (kind of... lol.) It's sunny and 85 degrees. No one has interrupted me for the last hour and a half, which is probably a record! I am sleepy though. And we have ants. So.many.ants. I have no idea why. We have never had this problem before... Urf.
  2. Hey gals! I have taken a mental health day off today and apparently, that is the only way I get any time on the boards anymore. Ds14 is at a tennis meet, ds12 is with his dad getting ready for a club event tonight, ils are quiet, and I came to see my girls  I will be doing a bit of ketchup. Is anyone else SO ready for this year to be over? I will write a ketchup post myself later. This year has been one crazeh ride. Miss y'all.
  3. We did Lukeion I this year and are now finished. I would say that - more than anything else - a strong *grammar* background would be the best investment of your years prior to Lukeion classes. They teach the Latin beautifully and comprehensively - you don't need prior Latin to start the sequence - but if your child is not strong in grammar (terminology and use), they may struggle unnecessarily. Also, study skills are really important to success in those classes. Amy is a terrific instructor and has high expectations for workload, timeliness, etc. Those expectations make their courses stand out in a crowd. However, many students flounder because of poor time management skills, etc. Just some food for thought:)
  4. My son took this in the fall and enjoyed it very much. Workload was reasonable. There is a 3 page assignment due each week and every other week he took a quiz. The class meets one hour per week. One thing to be aware of is that the grading is VERY SPECIFIC. Some of the problems involve figuring out words from their roots, which sounds easy. But, some of these words are not easy. I have a pretty extensive vocabulary, and there were enough that I had never heard before to humble me, lol. Point being, the words were challenging. And Lukeion is pretty detail oriented in general. So, a one letter misspelling was enough to make a problem completely wrong. So the student can have the figured out many difficult words in an assignment and still get a mediocre grade. Once I figured that out, I reevaluated my goals for that class. I decided that he was learning a huge amount and that we were going to set the grade to the side and just focus on the learning. He enjoyed the class so much and really put in the time and effort, so that approach was right for us. He did end up with a B:-) He is in Barbarian Diagramming with Regan now and is loving it as well. If you have any other questions, let me know.
  5. I don't remember that. Did someone get hurt? I hope not.
  6. Me too. After I play Halo with the kids, I can barely walk, lol.
  7. Except Ikslo. *He* just ordered pizza and is playing D&D with him on-line friends in the basement.
  8. Do you have any idea how much I want to be you right now? Your ability to create healthy balance intrigues me  Heck, your ability to actually *create* anything intrigues me:-)
  9. I will be stalking you to practice my German lol. If Germany had you, then I like it:-)
  10. I know I am terrible tonight, but did anyone snicker just a little at the thought of creating a new curse, "Go critique yourself." I have much shame... these are the days I miss Tex.
  11. I don't know how inspiring this is going to be, but when I get stuck, I have to think LESS about food. Tracking, points, etc is not good for me. I juice for a few days, eating bits in between and try to keep my mind busy. Then, I try to stay on that bus. As I get older, I have found I need *much* less food. My meals are small. Sometimes, I will leave out a small plate of sausage, cheese, olives and veggies and munch on a few bites here and there. I also try not to make everyday food taste too good, lol. Dining out, fine. But, my everyday is fuel more than an epicurean experience. But I also have a DH who appreciate the effort I make to stay in shape and doesn't try to sabotage me, lol. Getting the eating down first and then adding exercise later can help. I have a few friends who get on bandwagons and fall off pretty quickly because it is just too much of a shift in their day right now. Homeschooling and other mid-life responsibilities can cause a great deal of stress. Walking, stretching and some mild weight bearing here and there might be a better approach to going balls-to-the-wall with BeachBody or Insanity, if you are having a hard time ramping up. YMMV, just a slightly different perspective. Good luck:-)
  12. Ew. And, child, why on the green earth would you think that *I* would be handling that little chore for you? No.Way.
  13. I probably could have used better word choices than those 2 goods in the same sentence. It is pathetic that I feel like I have to explain that:-)
  14. I always wonder if one of us is "that guy". I sincerely hope not. If someone is that good though, they should use their powers for good:-)
  15. FWIW, I didn't get the impression you were trying to pick a fight. I was wondering if there was something personal going on because you explained yourself pretty clearly and not unkindly and you clarified exactly who and what situation you were speaking to. The seas are making me want chocolate even MORE :D No stress eating going on here, lol.
  16. I am now laughing at a new thread in the seas. I am sure it will get taken down, but it was just a good balance. To Slache, probably. I really believe the internet is like being in a car. Someone feels like they have to pick their nose, but thinks no one can see them. PSA: Windows don't hide boogie digging:-)
  17. So, so true! And there aren't many of those lovely words, like hygge and fika. I think that the very practical German attitude precludes such extravagances lol.
