I have it on my list to buy, i've never been disappointed with anything GBC in the binding area. Basically it's just the hole punch - the rest of it you do manually. I wouldn't have had it on my radar until i found out it did coils though, i'd just use the other stuff i have here you know?

I had considered buying this one a few months ago, but changed my mind because it only punches 4 pages at a time. I was hoping there was a "stronger" machine available at an affordable price. I don't want to pay a couple of hundred bucks for a binding machine. BUT, I want a binding machine!! Maybe I'll just have to go for it and buy this one.

The PRoclick system can use coils too.

You just need to make sure you use the proper pitch coils

I would really love to purchase a coil binding machine, but don't know what kind to get.

Yes, as a matter of fact. My 16yo used the "Owner's Manual" and also read current health news in the newspaper and on-line. I liked the book, thought it covers lots of basic information in a pleasant and readable fashion. For a final project he researched the pros and cons of coffee consumption, a topic near and dear to his heart as he had just discovered he likes coffee!
What a great idea! Did you supplement with anything else or just use the book and health articles? Would you please share any other suggestions on how you did this?

Can anyone recommend a good coil binding machine? I was going to buy one a few months ago but never did because I didn't know which one to buy.

That's the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Clearly, psychology would count as one of the three social science credits required for admission.
Thanks, Linda. It looks like we won't be able to count it as a science. I just checked one of the colleges dd is interested in and psych is counted as social studies rather than science. Dd will have plenty of history/social studies so doesn't need psych as one of them. Rats! I'm going to have her do psych anyway since she's so interested in it.
Back to the drawing board on finding a science that she is interested in.

Thanks for the info. It sounds like the Myers book is the way to go.
Mary, I haven't really been worrying too much about state requirements for graduation. I think we'll have it pretty much covered. I'm starting to look into college admissions requirements. I'm seeing that the college's that dd is most interested in require 2 years of high school science with one being lab based. Do you think that the Myer's would qualify as science under those conditions?
Also, let me know how much you want for the book and SG. I'll talk with dd and see if this is the direction she wants to go. I think it probably will be...

Has anyone found or put together an Intro to Psych course for high school?
My dd would like a psych course for science next year, but the only one I've found is Oak Meadow. I'd like to know if there are any other options that anyone has found.
She's also interested in cognitive studies. Does anyone know of a high school course in that area?

Thank you so much for taking the time to share so much info! It sounds like the kind of astronomy course dd is looking for. And, it would be totally workable to do the field activities throughout the year. I appreciate your trying to analyze whether the Christian aspect would be a problem or not. It sounds like it probably would not, but I am going to have dd read through your post and help make the decision. The problem that she had with Apologia was that he was very condescending and used a lot of circular reasoning. It sounds like that doesn't exist in Signs & Seasons.
I first learned about homeschooling MANY years ago (early '80s) from Mothering magazine. Homeschooling was considered part of an alternative lifestyle that appealed to us. It's interesting the direction that homeschooling (and homeschooling resources) has taken since then.

I'd love to know more about this.
I have a 10th grade dd who "should" be doing chemistry but just isn't ready (or interested). I'm looking for some high school level science "something" for her to do between now and next fall. She's interested in astronomy and this sounds like a possibility but we're not Christian. We tried one of the Apologia courses a couple of years ago and it was a disaster for us. So, I'm a little leery of using another Christian program. Would you please tell me more about this?

We're going to go ahead and do this. Now, I just need to decide if we should use the edition of his book that we already have, or purchase the revised edition.
