  1. I would put the sofa in front of the window, then get bookshelves or cubes that go as high up the wall as possible. When in doubt, go up in a small space, I had tons of wall shelves and hooks in our old house to hold misc stuff.

If there is room I would put the chair in the corner next to the sofa kind of at an angle.

I would also consider one larger low square table for the center of the room, that kids could sit on pillows and play at.

  2. Side by side should be last on your list. Bleh. My 2nd favorite fridge is the one with the freezer on bottom. Makes so much more sense than freezer on top. But my 1st favorite is my current fridge -- it's freezerless (all fridge)!! Love, love it. So much space. We have a full sized freezer just off the kitchen. I picked it up through Sears.com.

This is what I want too, with a separate chest freezer. I hate my side by side, and we limited by a precise opening so a lot of the french doors won't fit.

I also want either brushed stainless or black next time, I hate the shiny stainless, it looks smeary and dirty all the time.

  3. Ok you guys are making me feel better! :)

    Thanks!

I also want to get my hair redone. I'm thinking about going dark with some bright red and blonde highlights. Hmm....

Oh yeah, what about pants? Would those colored skinny jean type pants (NOT leggings lol) be ok you think?

I'm 33 and wear those, I just wear longer looser shirts with them, like crotch length.

I also wear mostly long skirts and.sundresses with flip flops when it is warm. I don't like shorts much, but when it is 100+ for weeks on end I stop.caring what I look like and start wearing as little as possible without scaring anyone!

  4. I think of my gay friends and how hard coming out was for them. How worried they were even coming out to me (and I already knew, LOL). They shouldn't have to be afraid. It should be as easy as saying "I don't like broccoli."

I don't think either of my boys are gay. I don't get that impression. But, I've told them both that it doesn't matter to me one little bit. It's not even something I would be momentarily sad about. Now, ax murderer? Yes, I would cry. Please, don't be an ax murderer. Don't make your momma cry. :)

I don't think DS is gay, he does for sure notice pretty girls now. But he is not athletic and is just a kind soul. But people.have asked me how I would feel if he was. Honestly I can't imagine anyone asking a mom that, but it would have no impact on how I felt or thought about him. We have told him that too, that we don't care who anyone loves. Just as long as they are happy and being treated well. Who the hell cares about the specifics!

He watched some Torch wood with me this winter, that took some explaining Since it was his first exposure to the idea of being bi. It did give us an opportunity for some good discussions though!

  5. Try Zymox drops once he is done with the antibiotics. We have hounds with big floppy ears and it works really really well. I use it 2-3 times a day for an active infection, and once a week or so for maintenance.

It won't work with his other treatment, but next time it is really worth a try.

Adding yogurt one probiotics to his diet is a good idea too, in my experience most ear infection have both a fungal and bacterial element to them. Our dogs ear starts to smell like yucky bread before he starts showing signs of infection. I can usually stop it with the Zymox within a day or two.

most of the people we know do not have the money right now to pay for repairs. Everyone we know is struggling. He was self employed until a couple yrs ago. The only option was to start working for a company where he makes half the amount he was making while self employed. He does get some paying side jobs every once in a while and still has his contractors permit but does not have the money to advertise anymore. Advertising around here is hit or miss any way and we can't spend the money when he may not even get enough jobs to pay for the advertising.

Try advertising on Craigslist, we just hired several highly skilled contractors and I found all of them on Craigslist

They all offered me photos of their work, their license and references if I wanted them.

  7. We just moved from 1000 square feet that was poorly laid out and 100 years old, to just over 2000 square feet, but to me it feels much much bigger than double our old house. The layout is much more open, and it has 9 closets vs the 3 small ones we had before.

I would not want to go any bigger, this is the perfect size for us to live in forever. We also went from a tiny city lot to an acre, and that makes a huge difference in how cramped we feel IMO.

  8. Hmm, I clean with microfiber, but I never thought to do their feet with it! I have also contemplated a shallow tub near the door and training them to walk through it, on their way in.

I might just do the craft paper idea, we have a big snowstorm coming, which means mud for days and days!

  9. I thought these tile floors would be super easy to clean. But not so much!

There might not be a magic solution, but I'm sure I'm not the only one dealing with this.

    :willy_nilly: :willy_nilly: :willy_nilly:

We have one large room kitchen, dining, and living, as well as a den off the side with 16x16 slightly textured porcelain tiles that are supposed to look like slate. High traffic doesn't even begin to describe it. And this red clay is so fine and sticky and EVERYWHERE!

We have a mud problem but cannot pave the driveway or have the areas surrounding the house leveled for at least another month. This means at least 3 months before I can get any sort of ground decent cover going in the high traffic front yard area, and we are slipping and sliding in much every time we come in and out of the car.

Usually we take our shoes off and put a clean pair when we come in, but sometimes it isn't practical. For example: yesterday we had a car full of groceries, so a LOT of dirt was tracked in and is now dried and caked on my floors. The dogs also go out to potty and play, and despite having a rug on either side of the door, their feet still track in a lot of wet sticky clay, which then dries on the floor.

The vacuum doesn't help much, it mostly just kicks it around even more, and my broom only gets the loose top stuff and takes forever in this big room. The only way to get them looking at all decent is with my Hoover Wetjet, but it is not practical for everyday use!

I am also having to vacuum the stairs and landing everyday, which is a huge pain, but all the loose silt gets tracked onto the carpet and is going to ruin it quickly!!

  10. Amoxicillin doesn't touch a bad infection for me anymore. This last fall I did a round of that, two rounds of Doxycycline, and then finally ended up needing 3 weeks on Biaxin, which was miserable.

I also ended up treating mine using Zymox drops which is an enzyme and probiotic ear drop for animals. I had stopped getting the nasty snot and swelling and blood clots, but I was still getting sores inside my nose that weren't healing. The zymox cleared those up really quickly. I think that it had become a combination of bacteria and yeast from the antibiotics.

Im not saying he should put dog meds in his nose, but I would want to see if there was a fungal aspect to the infection.

  11. ARGGGGGHHHHH!

Had to throw this out somewhere. Why is it that every year - near tax refund time - prices of certain books on Amazon go up? Third party sellers, I mean. I've been stalking Human Odyssey Vol 2 since last fall. I needed it a month ago, but the price suddenly doubled at the first of the year from about $16 to $30. And for the last two weeks? About $45. Used, of course. Can't do it. Not when every other book we need has also gone up in price over the last few months, too. I think the sellers have caught on. :glare: Where are the magical states that give homeschool families money towards school books and supplies every year?? Or maybe I just need to win the lottery.

That stinks! I was going to order those too.

when you have time, can you walk me through how you coordinate CHOLL and HO? Like talk to me like I am stupid, and need you to hold my hand while I cross the street!

I am doing CHOLL for sure, starting this week and through the spring while we attempt to finally finish Greece and Rome, but trying to nail down my spines for stuff next fall, I am torn between HO, and K12 human Odyssey, or doing MP The Middle Ages and CHOLL and one of the Odyssey.
