Thanks for all the responses. I am inclined to think it’s anxiety. She is always so excited about social activities, but then when we arrived, she freezes up. She doesn’t have this problem when she is with people she knows well. We had lunch with two girls and a mum a few weeks ago, and she was so quiet, barely said two words. After we left, I asked her if everything was all right and that’s when she told me about the fading and tunnel like feeling. She also gets it in a classroom setting, and can’t focus on what the teacher is saying, so that confused me. We tried an online class and she could concentrate either.

Hi, I don’t post very much, but I do read a lot of your posts. I have a 14 year old dd who is having such a difficult time socially. I noticed this a few weeks ago, but she just let on that she’s been dealing with this for a while. When she is in a big group she tends to become very quiet and just clams up. When I asked her about it, she said everything sort of fades and the voices sound like they are in a tunnel, and that she can’t concentrate. She has always been quiet, but not to this extent. We just relocated, so I thought this was it, but according to her, this has been going on for a few years now. I feel awful for not noticing it, but she had such a large group of friends and was always running around and chatting. Now I think about it, I’m not sure if she was just following along or actually participating. Any ideas, how can I help her? She has a doctor’s appointment tomorrow, not for this, but I will bring it up. I apologise for any grammatical errors, but I’m so upset and typing on my phone.

Could it be the sauce? My DD would get really sick after eating store bought sauces. Now I make my own and she has had no problems.

Thank you so much for the responses. I knew this was the right place to ask! I showed her some of the loft beds, but she is concerned about tumbling out. She is excited about the extra floor space and all the bookshelves she can fit in there, along with a window seat, and a bean bag chair. Hmm, it doesn't sound like there will be any floor space after all. Thanks for the heads up about the x-long twin. She is tall, so that is probably a necessity. Is it difficult to find sheets that fit? We have a California king and can't always find good sheets at a reasonable price.

Hello, I am mostly a lurker, and really enjoy being a part of this board. My 11 year old, soon to be 12 (in a month), has requested that we replace her full bed with a twin. We just moved into a house with a smaller bedroom than what she is used to. (She does have a second room that she uses for crafts and music and whatever else she wants). My husband thinks it is a bad idea, and I hesitant to do this, as she has ever only slept in a full. I worry that once the novelty wears off she will want her old bed back. Her reason behind this is for more floor space. Would you honour her request, or is it a bad idea? Has anybody's kids moved from a full bed to a twin? I know it is usually the other way around. Thank you in advance.

Following along. My daughter is going into 6th grade now and will probably go to PS in 9th (not sure yet). I would like it to be an easy transition for her, so we may start a bit early on these goals.

Thank you all for the replies, I am so excited because we will probably be moving the first week of December. Woohoo, can you tell I am excited! We lived in Texas for seven years until May of this year, when we sold our house and moved to Nevada. We were in need of a change, but have come to the conclusion that Nevada is not the place for us. We have been renting since we moved out here and our lease ends in December, we are so glad we gave ourselves six months to decide whether to buy a house here or not. So colorado here we come! I am counting down the days.:hurray:

We will be renting a place near Denver for a few months so we can get a feel for the different areas before purchasing a home. Hello, I am new here, mostly lurking and enjoying reading and learning a lot from the board. This my first post to the general board, so please be kind? :) My dh and I are planning to move to colorado soon, however, we can not agree on a time. I would love to spend Christmas there, which would mean moving the first week of December as our lease ends around that time. My dh is hesitant to move then, because he is worried that the cold temps. maybe a bit too much for us, so he suggested that we stay until May, when it warms up. We live where it stays hot most of the year with no seasonal changes. Even my 8 year old is excited about the move and would really love to have a cold and maybe snowy Christmas season. So ladies and what would you do, would it be December or May? TIA
