  1. I am sorry if this is inappropriate or in the wrong forum. But i by accident left my pages 23-26 (which is really only 2 pages) at the library looking for the accompanying books. Would anyone mind copying just those pages for me and sending them to me? I could even pay
  2. How do you incorporate the vocabulary words? Feel free to post a link if there is already a discussion. Ijust couldn't find one.

  4. I am doing Prima Latina with my littles at the moment. I was thinking of switching them to Latin for children A. It looks more engaging. Has anyone done this and met major problems?
  5. :grouphug: You are not alone. It is frustrating feeling like we "should" have done something as their parents and guardians. Fact of the matter is, you know now and you are doing what you can. And that is all we are responsible to do.
  6. This is awesome. I haven't had a chance to read through all the comments but this is so great! Thanks for sharing :D
  7. LOL. I am in the same boat. I just bought my kiddoes Gateway to Arabic book 1 ( I think) My arabic teacher is using book 2 with me. It is HEAVY with vocabulary which is kind of overwhelming for me since it is only me speaking arabic in the house. But with you and hubby it may be a nice addition. I purchased mine from noor art.
  8. I have to give another positive review for TT. My DS is using it for level 4. (I actually bought a PC only version by accident for DD so we have been using LOF primarily with a supplement workbook from BN so she is at least doing SOMETHING.) But both kiddoes love TT. it is completely independent and completely on the CD-roms sent with the program. We have the textbook that goes along with it, in fact, when DS needs to work out a problem he does it in the textbook. I know some people who have the CD's only and work problems out on whiteboards. My people like having books to work from though.
  9. I am interested in it also. Are there a lot of fun graphics and stuff or does it get straight to the point? I would get the free trial myself but i am at work:tongue_smilie:
  10. I don't know what GT or the K12 program is, but my DS HATEs writing. In fact, i found that most of the reason why we were having problems when we first started stemmed from his inability to keep up with the writing. He loves homeschooling because he can still express his knowledge without writing. Our math is on the computer so he can type in his answers. I use a workbook and 5 minute math once a week because i read a study that children who write their work learn better. I basically wanted to make sure he can do it. His language arts is all writing because he needs the practice but he also gets a lot of oral work. We have a good mix of oral vs written competency and it seems to work well. i like that theory of input vs output tho, i had never heard of it.
  11. i don't know if i am afraid of the price but i feel like there are a world of options and i am afraid to pic just one!:tongue_smilie:where should i look for a good microscope for both kiddoes?
  12. so my DD is signed up for Grammar Voyage...I dont know who is is more excited, she or I :D
  13. Problem is, I really don't know how to play. I have been loosely following the idiots guide and we have learned one topic a day. I just would like some insight into other activities to keep them interested. I think we have the basics down. I usually get 6-8 kids each week. Any ideas?
  14. thank you. i want to send my DD to the MCT Caesar's English II and Grammar Voyage for the spring. I am hoping it will be more exciting, she was totally bored with the program when it was just me doing it. part of it is because I got the wrong books tho...:glare:
  15. Has anyone every gone through any of the programs at onlineg3.com? I want to sign up DD for MCT classes but $199 plus the cost of books seems kind of steep... I don't know:001_huh:
  16. Same here. I am just giving them things that challenge them when it feels right. I love the fact that they love learning without feeling pressured to keep up or stress from not being challenged. I don't think it is a bad idea to have your kiddo tested, especially since you can get some (free) assistance with resources.
  17. My kids are doing grammar and Latin right now. I have ZERO latin background and they have had no problems learning or retaining information. The Latin has actually reinforced their grammar. My kiddoes are doing Prima Latina and using the instructional DVD's as their teacher. It is about 20-25 minutes of actual instruction then there are review exercises in the student workbook. I have a teacher workbook I refer to when they have questions but I am pretty much hands off. My kiddoes are young so this program works for them but Memoria Press does have basic instruction courses for older students. I personally love the program. They work on it twice a week for about 25 minutes. My only complaint is that it is christian latin and i am not christian. I would love to find a program that does not have as much of a religious influence. :001_smile:
  18. I do my lesson plans 2 weeks at a time because things are always changing around here. I work and school as well as run extracurricular activities for them so sometimes i am just too tired to get to everything. doing it 2 weeks at a time in pencil helps me stay focused without getting frazzled about getting "behind" in our work. especially since we are moving at their respective paces.
  19. thanks. so it sounds like it is really a matter of finding the perfect fit. my kiddoes liked the camp they went to the last two years for the most part but I also remember hearing complaints from them and the camp. we will see.
  20. thanks. i almost felt like i was missing something or i wasn't giving them enough education attention. thanks. we do a lot of activities outside the house; chess club, story club, tae kwondo etc. I almost felt like i was spending more time out then in the house. cool beans thanks. oh yea, and dd will def read her history book in bed at night. ds will turn on his TT Cd without me even knowing! the only part is lesson planning. i like having everything mapped out, when they do that it kind of throws me!
  21. Does anyone send their kids to sleepover camp? how do they adjust with the other kids. we have gone to camp for the last two years, unfortunately they were really too young . they still had fun. this year they will be going to a different camp (I haven't found one tho) and i feel with them being older and homeschooled they may have a harder time. what do you think?
  22. I don't know if it is because we have to break up the day so I can sleep or if I am lazy but we don't tend to have "school" for very long. I try to limit the time we spend on things so their interest is maintained and we have different extracurriculars every day to mix it up. but if we just like sat and went straight through I don't think our day would be longer than like 4 or 5 hours. is that okay? do you think I should spend more time with them? sometimes we don't even start until 1 or 2 but those days we will ahve discussions until like 9. idk...:glare:
