  1. It will be difficult, if not impossible, to use an app without the other person having it too. My young kids (7 and 10) use Voxer to communicate with their aunts sometimes. They can send texts, photos, and even voice messages on it.
  2. Some things going into my 18 year old nephews stocking who will ship out to boot camp in January...... Ghirardellhi peppermint bark chocolate squares A mug with packets of different flavored of hot chocolate A wallet ninja A Christian t-shirt Mini Dr Who figures Dr Who bookmark $5 gift card to the Chinese take out place And I need to figure out 5 more things :)
  3. I always make muffins and bring them. Or things like yogurt, hard boiled eggs, bagels and cream cheese, Kashi bars.
  4. Yes, stupid is off limits around here. I've actually told my kids that it's okay for them to use stupid in reference to a thing....such as, that movie was stupid! However, they refuse to use it and reprimand me whenever I use it LOL. They're very much rule followers when it comes to things like that. You probably won't believe me but my kids have never, ever called each other a mean name. It's off limits in our house. And I've reinforced this by not allowing TV shows/cartoons in which the characters are constantly calling names. Don't think they're perfect though....I can't seem to curb the hitting :glare:.
  5. We do family game night 1-2 nights a week.....my 10 and 7 year old girls enjoy Headbandz, Faces, Outburst, and Monopoly.
  6. Umm, this FL girl keeps her temp at 74 during the daytime, year around. At night it is 72. I'd freeze in your houses!
  7. Catch Phrase. It's our go-to game for family gatherings. It's so funny and it actually requires some skill and knowledge.
  8. Any Disney movie to get them excited about the characters that they will meet! I have three girls, just about the same ages as yours (mine are 10, 7, and 3). Maybe some of the non-princess ones....Robin Hood, The Fox and The Hound, etc.
  9. This is why I was hesitant to get another dog. We put our 14 year old dog down this past April due to his worsening diabetes. I had to pay for insulin and needles each month, which wasn't too expensive....about $25 per vial, which lasted about a month. But I kept having to take him to the vet.....the emergency vet for a seizure ($$$), then to the vet for a skin condition, countless tests due to bladder control, pain management, etc. It was upwards of probably $600-$700 dollars during his last year. We finally had to put him down....for one, due to the fact that he just didn't seem happy anymore, he seemed very uncomfortable....for two, the cost was getting out of control. Now we have a 10 month old puppy that we got when he was 8 weeks old. We love him, but I'm not sure what I would do if I found out he had to be on meds starting so young. I guess it would depend on the cost of the meds each month. If it were over $50-$60 per month, I'm not sure we could/would do it. It would be a very difficult decision though.
  10. There's been many times where I've found myself wishing that I could play my iPad on the TV. I use Pinterest a lot for school and pull up a lot of videos, photos, works of art, etc. I'd love to be able to project these onto the TV so that we can all view them easily. We also have some learning games that I'd love for all of us to be able to view at one time. With airplay, can you easily project ANY app onto the TV screen.....basically whatever you see on your iPad screen will be projected on the big TV? Anyone do this for school?
  11. My philosophy is if you have to ask, I'd go ahead and throw it out. I won't mess around with food poisoning....too miserable!
  12. Wipes....lots of wipes! We go through some serious amounts of wipes. My kids seem to use them for everything, even the 7 and 10 year old. With 8 kids, there's probably some toddlers/preschoolers in the mix that could still use wipes too.
  13. I'd have done the same thing! It's so nice to read about other introverted people. I always feel like I'm the only one who acts/feels these ways!
  14. Well, my 7 and 10 year olds are so shy that saying " thank you" after receiving candy is a big step. I require them to say thank you and I'm not going to push the trick or treat part. I guess they were probably considered rude then. Just remember that you never know the situation behind the child.
  15. My 10 year old daughter does. It's $4.95 per month for up to 10 players. She takes it out of her allowance each month. I won't allow her to play on a public server so this was how she's able to play with her cousin and friend. We use hosthorde.com. They've been absolutely fantastic! If I've had a question or didn't understand something with the server, they are very quick to walk me through whatever I need to do. I highly recommend them.
  16. We always go camping at Disney for the week of Halloween. We attend the Halloween party and the campground has lots of great activities, including trick or treating. So we'll have two opportunities to wear our costumes. DD10 - the green ninja from Ninjago DD7 - Izzy from Jake and the Neverland Pirates DD3 - Jake from Jake and the Neverland Pirates Nephew18 - Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid DH and I - I was going to be Where's Waldo (already bought the stuff but I'll save it for next year) but decided for DH and I to be Ninja Turtles. I bought us the costume tee shirts and we'll wear masks with it. I contemplated the turtle shell backpack, but I'm not totally sure yet. I'm Michelangelo and he's Leonardo....though he doesn't know this yet LOL.
  17. First reaction.....VERY irritated, for several reasons: 1. It's rude. 2. It's teaching the kids to be rude. 3. I'm taking the time and effort to make a meal for the family...one should be thankful for that. And it's teaching the kids to be ungrateful that mom cooks for the family if they see dad bring something home. Also, the kids may prefer dads meal, and then the whining commences. Or if dad does bring enough home for the kids, the meal mom made is wasted. 4. It's spending money unnecessarily.
  18. I second the minute to win it games! Always a hit with adults and kids alike! I'd also check out Pinterest for some Halloween snack ideas. There's some great ones on there! Will the party be long enough for a movie? If not, maybe you can have a Halloween movie playing in the background.
  19. One of the best episodes EVER, IMO!!!! Yes, the beginning was very gruesome (I even closed my eyes in parts!). I'm glad they moved past that and got to the good parts. I loved when Daryl ran to Carol. It gave us a peek behind that tough guy exterior. And I was so happy to see Rick and Carl reunited with Judith. I've been waiting so long for that! Can't wait for next week....very interesting to see Morgan again!
  20. 7/12 here....did better than 69% of people. I would have done better pre-kids and pre-homeschooling though. I never have time to keep up with the news anymore. And frankly, everything on the news is pretty depressing anyways. Though I did miss one that I just wasn't thinking clearly about....should have gotten that one.
  21. We just use Walmart....never had a problem. I've used Zenni but have the most trouble with the fit from there.
  22. DD10 is going as the green ninja from Ninjago. DD7 is going as Izzy from Jake and The Neverland Pirates. DD3 is going as Jake from Jake and The Neverland Pirates....I think I'll put a blue bow in her hair or something LOL. Nephew 18 is going as Price Eric from The Little Mermaid. I'm going as Where's Waldo. And we have to find something for DH! We'll be at Disney for Halloween, as usual! We usually do a family theme but no one could agree this year LOL.
  23. Fever does cause an increased heart rate. Maybe she's feeling her heart beating faster?
  24. I usually would say...."Hey, I'm going to close the garage door so the fumes don't get in here. Is that fine?" That way he knows what I want, but there's also an opportunity for him to let me know if there's valid reason to leave it open too. That's probably the way I usually word things.
  25. Yikes!!! Wow, I'm not sure. I assume they got the most durable pair on the market? Maybe sports goggles would be better at his age? My daughter had just turned 3 when she got glasses, but was surprisingly very good with them. She never took them off unless she was going swimming, taking a bath, or going to sleep. She's now 7 and has never broken a pair of glasses. Maybe she's just extra careful?
