My dd15 is a hero today. She rescued a little girl that was drowning while we were at the beach. I am so proud to be her mom.

My cousin won the drummer of the year award at the CCMAs last night!

With 2 puppies and 3 kittens and 4 kids the house is seldom quiet. Fully enjoying the silence right now. all 5 furries are asleep, 1 boy watching a movie, 1 girl out of town, 1 girl out babysitting, and 1 boy reading means silence, pure awesome silence :)

So happy the 2 cats fully accepted the new puppy no problem so far. The youngest kitten and puppy are already playing together, the older kitten is being watchful and cautious but I caught him and the puppy having a nap under the kitchen table earlier together. Hope things go just as well when the other furry kids join the family in the coming weeks.

just submitted another article for publication. The magazine from my homeschool board arrived last week with my last one published, so attempting again for the Sept issue. I never saw myself as a writer, but this is fun :)

I hate bitter chocolate. Milk chocolate is best though semi-sweet is acceptable. But bitter chocolate, ick.

Can can, can you can? yes I can! lol In the last 2 days I have canned strawberry jam, peach jam, apple sauce and strawberry lemonade concentrate. Tomorrow is pickles and then no more until the pain in my feet from standing in front fo the stove for hours on ends is totally gone

I've never canned OR can-canned... surprised it took em so long to find a video that was both not raunchy AND decent quality. :D

Mama-san that sounds yummy :)
Other items on my list this summer: salsa(regular and peach), tomato sauce, kiwi preserves, raspberry jam, autumn cranberry pear jam, apple butter, cranapple butter, blueberry syrup, strawberry syrup, just hot packed fruits in light syrup (pears, peaches, plums, cherries etc),oranges in cointreau, ketchup, relish, bbq sauce, plum sauce, pickled roasted red peppers and pizza sauce. The goal is to can 1-2 things most days to have a good stash at the end...

Can't sleep, don;t know if my brother and sil are okay or not, many communities in the city they live in have been evacuated due to flooding. I don't know the exact community they live in and it is too late to call them to check on them

finally heard back last night, sort of. Sil posted on fb they were safe, but still can't get ahold of brother on phone. Found out the name of their community and it was partially evacuated so far. Hoping they (and their brand new house) remain safe and dry. Out in Alberta there is no such thing as flood insurance, so if they flood they lose everything and insurance doesn't cover any of it.

I love ebay right now. Got TC Vandive's Iliad and Odyssey still in their shrink wrap for a fraction of the price. I have drooled over TC dvds for a while but they are so expensive I thought I would never get to use them. Now I have 2 enroute.

fingers crossed that everyone that said manula labor for surly teens is right...teens will eb doing hard manual labour farm chores in exchange for free riding lessons from a certified instructor. Mucking stalls, painting fences, animal care etc and she is tough with a 2 strike policy, lying, bad attitude or laziness gets you 1 warning and then fired.

you don't need alcohol to feel light headed, just try to be silly with your kid playing a harmonica very very quickly without much pausing for air. Oh boy, that was a dumb idea, though dd5 got a kick out of it

dd5's advice for vegetarians that like to eat meat (like she says she is) is to ask the animal first if it is a good animal or bad animals, good animals you can not kill and eat, but bad animals you can. The animals will always tell the truth she says, so just ask first and be careful, then you can be a vegetarian that likes to eat meat.

Another successful day of resourcefulness, aside from the free horse riding I found for dd, I also managed to find her 3 more babysitting clients, and will be going tomorrow to pick up some free moose meat. :) For a while there I thought I had lost my resource finding mojo, but it appears to be back in full swing.

DD13 has declared me the best mom ever. I found her free horse riding, something she has been begging for years to do but I could not afford it. I found a way for her to do so for free!

How to stop the zombie apopolips according to my dd5. The zombies are not really mean, they are just lonely because they don't have any friends. So to stop the apopolips you have to help them make friends, and then they will be happy and not eat you.

Praying for peace for Kalanamak and her family. Praying that God works a miracle and heals her, and if He doesn't that He welcome her home with loving arms and knows how ticked we are that he is taking back one of the good ones far too soon.

From my house to yours: My parenting tip of the day. When your teen is acting like a spazzing freak over every little thing, tell them life could be worse, they could have herpes. Make it your go to phrase for the day, that nothing in their life that day could be worse than dealing with herpes. It helps, knock said teen back into reality and seeing they have it pretty good.

The girls have 1/2 their bedroom back. It has been filled with the shelves of school books I took out of the livingroom for the rno have been clogging it up since Aug. FInally have 1/2 of it out, working on rest today. Rearranging furniture and books is tiring.
