  1. And, first, it's cool that this is the first year the National Museum of African American History and Culture is going to be open to the public. Plus, the museum does live webcasts and saves them for viewing anytime at Ustream.tv. Which is my next point-- I had to create a free account to see the museum's videos (wanted to make sure I could). When I made the account it the app showed me other things I might want to view. Monterey Bay Aquarium has an account! I've been following them on Twitter b/c they have great ocean life stuff. Audubon and NASA use the service, too. So, if you are looking for videos and didn't know about this source, now you do. : ) Oops, here's a link: http://www.ustream.tv/explore/all
  2. Here's a blog listing several: http://www.scienceisforkids.com/animal-webcams/
  3. "Almost two years ago (2/15), Gorsuch wrote an en-banc opinion in United States v. Rentz that I saved because it provides a great example of using sentence diagramming to facilitate statutory interpretation." https://formalegalis.org/2016/12/21/sentence-diagramming/
  4. My friends all say computer time is bad so you have to stop now.
  5. Can opener. I want one that can be cleaned in the dishwasher w/o becoming rusty. Handwashing would be ok, but the blade is hard to clean this way.
  6. This hashtag is trending today on Twitter. Real scientists sharing their careers and lives. Caution, though, these are real people sharing--some posts are a little NC-17.
  7. Adding another resource for leadership training. These are written for adults, but applicable to your high school and college students preparing to enter the job market: https://leadershipfreak.blog/
  8. Congratulations, you've now identified the people in your life who don't respect you or your parenting decisions. Be aware of this moving forward. If they are family members, be aware that they may try to undercut you with your children. Establish your boundaries and take the respect you deserve as the parent of your child.
  9. I just found this: https://www.awesomestories.com/Signup I've not checked it out yet.
  10. Sorry, I was quick posting over lunch. Perhaps some of the information in the article can give you a jumping point for research? My noise intolerance involves just about everything and has gotten worse as I get older. I use headphones and/or earplugs sometimes. I have ADHD, so I'm sure that plays a role.
  11. The body can be very intolerant of bad ergonomics. : )

  13. The biggest issues for me were reaching up to mess with an itchy spot on my head (causing overuse of the shoulder and elbow), setting my keyboard at the wrong height (causing me to tightly bend at the elbow), and sleeping on my side with my hand under my head (again bending at the shoulder AND tightly bending at the elbow). Repetitious motion or a sustained hold combined with awkward positioning create a bad situation. Overstress can do the same- heavy lifting or lifting from an awkward angle. Look for something you do regularly and just change it up a little. Take breaks, adjust the position so that it is less severe, etc. Our local orthos are always busy. Keep trying. Maybe look for sports medicine clinics in your area.
  14. Back when I struggled with acne, choices were limited. Retin-A was a prescription drug (lotion) at the time. But, it worked the best at healing my skin and limiting scars. I think the same ingredient is available in OTC lotions now. Do check the side-effects of long-term use though. It has been too long ago for me to remember if there were any issues.
  15. Totally cool. My DH talks about going to college with one of our kids once he retires. (Of course we have an Aspie, so it might be a necessity.)
  16. ADHD very much can manifest similar to ODD. VERY MUCH. (Says the mom of an 11 y.o. called Mr. Contratian) Once you lose the stream of thought to the amygdala all bets are off. Just read up and learn how to direct the behaviors. :grouphug:
  17. My position has always been, if you will be arrested for doing this as an adult, then I need to teach you to control yourself as a child. My boys are spaced such that each one weighs about twice as much as the next. So, hitting is definitely out. When the oldest first hit his growth spurt, he had no idea how much bigger and stronger he was. I am glad we had already put a stop to hitting before that. I usually reserved punishment for hitting for only the most extreme cases. In most instances, I took an educational approach. "I understand that you are feeling X and want to express it, but you must never touch another person while expressing your anger..." (I do distinguish for self-defense.)
  18. Read your post more carefully. There can be several different causes for the tingling in your pinky. Here's an article that sums up some of the leading causes of hand pain. If anything jumps out at you from the list, let me know. I can point you to more detailed research. http://bridgecaremedical.com/category/pain-types/hand-pain/
  19. Oh I had that test once! Horrid! I ached for so long afterwards.
  20. And... starter information for cubital tunnel syndrome: https://www.workplacetesting.com/definition/1601/cubital-tunnel-syndrome You may be able to alleviate the problem with behavioral changes and physical therapy. (Hope you can!) :001_smile:

  23. Yes, whether working or staying at home a family's financial plan should account for the needs of each member. We have insurance, etc. I know my legal rights with regard to retirement savings (though I don't anticipate needing to exercise those rights). I suppose it is a little easier for me to relax because I did get my degree before babies came along. But I've not worked full-time for many years.
