  1. If it persists she needs to mention it to her dr. I had the same symptoms on BC - turned out to be due to hyperthyroid.
  2. Nope not worth it - I got a kindle keyboard 3g for black friday for $50 - at that low of a price the warranty is rarely worth it.
  3. Have you considered moving? I know here in South Texas there is no waiting list for services in most cases.
  4. Not good for us - we are just starting down the road to an official diagnosis for DD - we strongly suspect ASD and SPD. Hers is quite mild, but as she ages it is becoming more apparent and more problematic for her. She wouldn't qualify under the new definition - she just barely meets the current one. We are in the position of needing therapy to work on some issues now that I don't know how to work with her on further - I really hope this doesn't prevent us from getting what she needs.
  5. What you're looking for is a formal lab report. It's been years since I had to write one in high school, but there is a format - I think Real science for kids teaches it in a simple form.
  6. I would explain to them that there is no where locally near you that stocks these toys outside of the holidays, and could they provide a voucher with either a longer expiration or an online code. Otherwise - if they still have the entire new toy in stock, I'd press for them sending out a new one as a replacement if you send in the complete old one. How bad is the crack? I've fixed things like that with super glue before if it's not too bad.
  7. We do everything except Girl Scouts daily, so general education is our focus right now.
  8. Very interesting - I know I'm Vit. D deficient as I cover all my skin except my face and hands when out of the house - my Dr. wants me on supplements but they affect my thyroid so I can't take them.
  9. I got a kindle in November, and have found myself since then second guessing a lot of the classics on my shelf - If I can get them free why take up valuable shelf space? On the other hand, DD isn't allowed to read from my kindle without supervision {she's 5}, so I have kept some for her to read when I'm not around.
  10. Yes and no - it's complicated. If it's cold outside {and inside}, then DD normally wears sweats to do school in, and she also sleeps in sweats. If it's warm, she wears a school uniform that we mutually decided on at our thrift shop. This way she is not mistaken for one of the local public school kids {we live a block from the elementary school} and it also seems to help her transition into school mode better.
  11. Really we don't get very dirty around here, so unless there is a need for a shower outside of schedule it's normally twice a week or so and just a daily freshen-up at the sink on off days. As for the jammies - it depends. If I'm going somewhere I tend to shower that morning then get dressed for the day, or shower the night before and get ready for bed.
  12. What is your heat set on? If no one else is cold - get your thyroid checked. Low thyroid will make you freeze from the inside out lol. Definately - my winter outfit is sweatpants covered by a larger pair of sweatpants, a thin long sleeve t-shirt covered by a sweatshirt covered by a fleece coat. Plus regular socks covered by fleece socks. But I have thyroid issues where I'm always freezing - it has to be close to 80 before I thaw out even a little
  13. What's for lunch today? DD just woke up at noon, so she's having breakfast of cold cereal. I had a Smart One - trying to lose a little weight and they are portion controlled. What are you up to today besides schooling? We're actually not schooling today - we're still off from family events and the holidays. I'm rewriting lesson plans to better reflect where DD is and what we want to cover, and hope to get started back next week. I'm also doing a major house cleaning and decluttering and reworking where things are, so it's a bit of chaos right now. what's your weather like today? 68F out right now - I think we are to get into the mid 70's today. Unfortunately the Mountain Cedar is so high we're still stuck in the house.
  14. We're pretty relaxed about sleep here really. I have to take medication every 6 hours for the rest of my life, so I don't get to bed until midnight or so, and wake between 6 and 8am. DD has ASD and is a night owl, and often goes to sleep 2-5am and sleeps until noon-1pm. If she's not up by 1pm I generally start trying to wake her so we can do school while the sun is still up, as our school area doesn't have good artificial light. I really really wish she slept on a normal schedule sometimes - trying to get her up for field trips early is terrible!
  15. I'm new here to WTM - is this thread open to anyone to post about their day?
  16. I'm not very familiar with RSO and have a few questions about it too - since there was already a thread I thought I'd ask them here. I found the student notebook pages for Life and E&S at my local homeschool used book room last week for $3 and picked them up thinking they looked good. I think they might be an older version maybe? What do I need to go with the student notebook pages to use these? Can I use just what I have already without buying the textbooks since it looks like they are $50 or so each which is way out of my budget. I'd be using them with a science crazy 2nd grader - for K we used all the MSB books and videos, 1st was Behold and See 1 by CHC, and now we're looking for 2nd.
