  1. We use it twice a week, on Tues. & Thurs. I read the history page aloud as they're getting set up and then put on the dvd. I pause it occasionally if they need to catch up with her, but other than that, they just follow along with what she's doing. Their supplies so far have included paper (we use a 9x12 or 9x13 white sketch paper), pencils, ultra fine black markers for labeling and fine black markers for drawing, and occasionally a ruler and protractor. We've been using Sharpie brand markers and they've been fine btw. My kids notoriously lose and/or break the tips off of expensive pens, :glare: so I decided cheaper was better for now. We study history on Mon, Wed, and Friday so this is in addition to history for us.
  2. They did a really nice job! We're on lesson 8 and loving it as well. I've been impressed with her materials in general. Everything we've tried we've enjoyed.
  3. This looks well done. I've been looking for something to cover the upcoming elections and suddenly realized they're only 3 weeks away--yikes!
  4. Oh, I'm so sorry! :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: That is awful. I'll be praying for you and your son.
  5. I'm so sad to see all of your losses. :grouphug: I had one loss, in April 2001, which was my only pregnancy. Both of my kids were adopted earlier that year and the year before and I'm ever so grateful for them.
  6. I'm going through the teacher training program for the Logic of English. I downloaded and printed the guide off the website for $10 and am watching the videos on Youtube. I'm amazed by how much I didn't know about spelling and etymology. It's fascinating. I'm also continuing my Bible studies, specifically reformed theology. My other favorite thing is reading biographies & autobiographies.
  7. I bought a hard copy of Elements this year and there are several pages in color.
  8. We do our timelines two ways. One is with the book, which after a 4 year rotation will hold all of our timeline figures. I purchased the placement guide and we use it all the time. It really helps my kids to get things in the proper order. You certainly don't need their timeline book, and I know a lot of people make their own, but I really like having it and think of it as a sort of keep sake. We also use a tri-fold presentation board--a different one for every year, so that at the end of a 4 year rotation we'll have 4 different ones. They're nice because they easily fold away and don't take up much room. This way we can print off the bigger figures to use on the tri-fold board and the smaller ones for the book. Here are some pictures of our boards on my Pinterest history page.
  9. :chillpill: I think you're the one who needs to be embarassed for your poor behavior and witness by publicly gossiping about your fellow brothers & sisters in Christ. I don't agree with them but I agree with you even less. Seems you like to point out how so many Christians are doing things you disagree with in order to make yourself more popular with fringe/nominal Christians or non Christians. Feel better? :glare:
  10. I made this twice last year and it was amazing both times!
  11. :iagree: This is exactly how I use mine. It's right next to the stove also. I love it.
  12. This is simply not true. Ken Ham does not say that you are not a Christian if don't believe in the literal 6 day creation. What he does say is that if you are a Christian and you ascribe to the millions-of-years theory then you are compromising God's word. It's a biblical authorityissue, not salvation issue.
  13. He's young and not able to be independent yet. Two pages of MM at his age is also likely too much. Slow him down a bit and hold his hand more.
  14. I had a friend who went to a wedding where the mother of the groom auctioned off the leftover food after the reception. Can you imagine? That's actually the craziest thing I ever heard of at a wedding.
  15. We moved our school room this summer so this is our newly remodeled room.
  16. Yes, i started at 38 with missing periods & hot flashes and now at 41 the hot flashes and periods are gone.
  17. :iagree: Unless there were some really extreme circumstances I agree.
  18. Yes, we had an outside gas leak on our street that took them three years to find and fix. Many neighbors reported it before they finally came and took care of it. The city ended up having to dig trenches all down our street and replacing all of the pipes because they never could find the exact spot where the leak was. I would definitely call if you suspect there's a leak.
  19. I grew up listening to Alfred Hitchcock's ghost stories. Takes me right back to listening to his record underneath the blankets with my sister.
  20. Praying! :grouphug: I had a doctor who had this type of cancer when he was a young man and beat it. It was also very aggressive and he walks with a pronounced limp and a cane but possible to beat it. I hope this little one beats it as well.
  21. We've combined MUS & TT for both kids for the last two years with no problems. They do one lesson of TT (about 22 problems per lesson) and one page of MUS (about 20 per page) each day. I like MUS because it's mastery and TT is used for review since it's spiral.
